Six Flags St. Louis-anything?

Joe is correct. I spoke with the GCI guys at Phunphest...they are NOT going to put their trains on non-GCI coasters.

IMO....and GCI certainly doesn't have to listen to ME, LOL....

GCI should branch out and form a separate division specifically for wooden coaster trains...it really is a STRENGTH of their company, and those trains are the best thing that can happen to a wooden coaster (short of having ME marathon on it)...

....and just *imagine* how much Paramount would owe them if they could make GOOD trains for Sonny and save PKI *megamillions* in maintenance for THAT....beast...;)

Neither Paramount nor CF has even one coaster from them, it seems like an EXCELLENT way to "grow the brand"....

Oh, that's right, SFStL....love the place...:)

What about sfkk. the rumor is they are getting a Batman Knight Flight. Is the park going to get it or not.
The best way to answer the question that heads the topic, "Not a damn thing".

Was at the park for probably my last time this year on Thursday. There was nothing going on any were. The only thing out of the unusual is it seemed like the park was winterized quite quickly this year. Sorry kids guess we'll have to wait and see if I was right (unfortunately like usual) next year.

And has anyone else heard the rumor that the park might open a little earlier then when it usually does. Which is around April 20th? Kind of would like to figure out early this year when I need to go back into the park.

Six Flags St. Louis opens on March 25, which is Good Friday the "normal" day they open on, but it is earlier than usual. The entire 2005 schedule is on the parks website here http://www.sixflags.com/parks/stlouis/index.asp?date=3/16/2005.

Also, the park is getting a something new in 2005 as was mentioned in the conference call last week.

Do you know what they're getting next year SFZIP?

Is it a coaster or a flat? That would awesome if we get a new original design coaster!!! I would be so excited. And it has been a tradition for me to go to Six Flags the first day it opens so I will keep that tradition up for 2005...I hope. If they get a coaster im there without a doubt. = D

I don't know what the park is getting in 2005 and it probably won't be anything that big/major. Construction of anything has not started yet and more than likely won't until January.

If Six Flags is buying a lot of Tornado slides (which it looks like they are) then the park could easily get one of those. The waterpark has got nothing new since it opened in 1999 and a park of similar size SFFT got one last year. Or the park could get new kiddie rides and family rides similar to what SFGAm. or SFOG did in 2004.

OK! thanks alot! = D *** Edited 11/17/2004 7:39:57 PM UTC by SFSTLsteven***

I think that IF they build a tornado it needs to go over by the speed slides OR back behind Kahuna. I think that by building it over by the speed slides you can show it off more though.

Ok so the park is SUPPOSE to get something? With this early opening I think I will probably be goign back in or around Feb. 10th. This kidna stinks that the park is opening so early this year. I thought I would get to have at least a spring break. Guess not any more :(.

Ha ha bossstl, you have fun pushing your little carts around.

Yes it is true according to the conference call made to the six flags investors that we are indeed getting something new. I am pretty sure it is not something major though. All of the major attractions were specifically mentioned in the call, such as Kinga Ka and the new chicago waterpark. Here was one thought that I had though. There were A LOT of rumors of a new coaster for 2006. I was thinking that if this were true, they would begin building at the end of 2005 which is why it would be included in the investment conference call although it would not be open to the public until '06. Just a thought, but probably not right.

River King Mine Train Op 2004
Mr. Freeze Op 2005

They better get a new coaster in 2006 as WOF is bringing in the big iron that year. Also it sounds like SDC isn't done playing yet. :)
Do you really think WoF and SFStL are in that close of competition with one another?
Of course they are! The parks are 3.5 hours away from each other. Someone in the middle could easily go to either park. If you believe that the parks aren't in competition, that who is SFStL in competition with?

Also something to chew on… I live 2+ hours away and I have talked to more than a few families/people that have given up on SFStL completely and started heading west two hours to Holiday World.

Of course there are SOME people in the middle, but I think that SFStL is more in competition with other local attractions such as the zoo or the science center. I'll bet the percentage of people that live in the middle, say Columbia or one of those other cities is pretty small when compared to the percentage of locals. Pure speculation.
Point taken... BUT your comparing oranges and tangerines. Both are similar but not the same. When it comes down to it, the people that want to visit a theme park will want to go to a theme park and not "give in" to the zoo or the science center (vice versa applies).

I would be curious to see the amount of "local" St. Louis people compared with the people that are in a two hour radius of St. Louis. My hunch is that the radius yields more than the city.

My Final Word: The parks are very much in competition for those people between them, just like any other pair of parks. If parks weren't, I wouldn't get bombarded with IB, HW, AND SFStL commercials in my hometown (Not that HW commericals are bad, Paula :-)).

Well unlike other states, the "locals" in Missouri actually travel to places that are "not local" in the state to get thrills. When Boomerang opened at WOF you should have heard all of the people saying "Mr. Freeze is better." See CF:LP was under the allusion that people didn't travel in MO either. When you go to SFStL I gurantee you'll see at least 5 shirts that say Wildfire or Mamba.

Also if they weren't in competition why did we hear "it's playtime" in KC and "break out of your routine" in StL? And we hear SDC/CC/WWB commercials everywhere in the state. "Together we're the best that we can be....Together!"

My experience tells me that SFStL (as most other parks in big cities), is more directly in competition with the major sports franchises, the movies, the malls, and *touristy* stuff, etc., than they could ever be from another park HOURS away...

Some days I'd rather go the #1 zoo in the nation (it was released not too long ago that the St. Louis Zoo had stolen the #1 spot from San Diego) than go to a park where I feel in the minority. Lots of stupid people there. Oh and Grant's Farm is a lot of fun too.
