SFGadv will be recieiving a new rollercoaster in 2008. Magic Mountain has plans for a new roller coaster as well, but it has been scrapped until the future plans for the park pan out.It would have been an out and back woodie.
SFGRADV probably won't be recieving any coasters for 08,the days of spoiling SFMM,SFGRADV & SFGRAM with coaster after coaster every two years are over.
If things don't go well for the chain in 07 SFGRADV might just find itself on the chopping block....the current owners aren't going to have the millions of dollars to blow on cap ex spending like the previous owners had.
As is they're struggling to pay off their debt right now which is why so many non essential expenditures, such as the daily parades, costumed characters & other things were cancelled mid season.SFI needs to start investing in rides for the parks that the previous management overlooked...those three parks <SFGRADV,MM & GRAM> aren't able to sustain the financial weight of the entire company.
Universal has looked at Gadv a number of times. They offered, If I remember correctly, 120 million for the park about 4 or 5 years ago. Six Flags said no. Universal has come back time and time again looking to take the park right off of Six Flags' hands.
So, you are correct in the assumption that GADV may find itself in a new pair of hands soon.
But trust me, that's only a good sign, not a bad sign of things to come.
Look at the state of things here with SFI for a minute.
Why do you think Shapiro is looking to offload SFMM right now? He's looking to offload it because the coaster to family ride ratio is horribly off balance over there & SFGRADV has been following in it's footsteps quite recently.
Burke's management was so focused on adding coaster after coaster year after year at SFMM for the sake of a stupid record that they totally alienated the rest of their market by not adding flats & other rides that the whole family could enjoy.
Coasters also don't come cheap either & for a company that's $2 billion in debt<thanks to Burke's haphazard spending & management> they can no longer afford the huge multi-million dollar rides of the past 5 years...that's why they're going with the two spinners for 07 instead of a couple of huge woodies or a B&M because they're less expensive.
Shapiro made it clear that there will be "no more goliath's" being built for the forseeable future simply because they can't a fford it right now.SFGRADV has recieved S:UF,KK & recently ET.That's more than enough coasters for them when you compare it to some of the other SF parks that havn't recieved a single coaster in upwards of 5 to 7 years.
Sirloindude, who agrees that riding out SROS may have been one of the best decisions the company ever made (whether it was intentional or not is up for debate), but who thinks that it has been ridden out long enough. *** Edited 9/19/2006 1:14:50 AM UTC by sirloindude***
13 Boomerang, 9 SLC, and 8 B-TR clones
Shapiro made it clear that there will be "no more goliath's" being built for the forseeable future
And I believe there was an article a few days after that one you referenced where he clarified and said something like "Well, I didn't mean no new coasters, just not as many". (paraphrasing)
Now I don't necessarily believe Makel, but I do think it's kind of funny that most of you are acting like you're on the board of SFI or something simply because you read a few quotes from Shapiro. Nobody knows what their plan is.
And with the recent email I got telling me to get my 2007 Six Flags SP for "JUST $79.99!!" it doesn't seem like they learned anything this year...so...
13 Boomerang, 9 SLC, and 8 B-TR clones
I don't think they realize that they need to raise SP prices and lower the gate. It's quite obvious to me.
So, with little things like that, the continued catering to teens through advertising and all the other little sacrafices made to Shapiro's "plan" throughout the season, it almost appears as though said plan has been abandoned altogether.
EDIT - Oh, and regarding the discounted SP price, you are correct, but for as long as I can remember the "discount" has been at most $10, but usually more like $5. So I'd guess next years prices are going to be $84.99-$89.99. Still too cheap IMO. *** Edited 9/19/2006 4:01:06 AM UTC by MrX***
I implore all of you to go to www.gadv.com and search for his old posts. Assuming they aren't deleted or locked because of how ridiculous they are.
There is always a chance of some crazy thing like a ball coaster actually happening. But it's been a rumor since before Ka opened. Nothing new coming from him.
Don't pay any attention to what Makel says.

Just a tip:http://www.coasterbuzz.com/staff.htm
Scroll toward the bottom.
Wow. I wonder if that page will get updated when the 'new' CoasterBuzz makes it's way online? :)
It's a fourth generation Intamin roller coaster. First drop of 256 feet with a top speed of 84 MPH. It will be called Insanity and placed in a new section of the park called "Wiggles World".
For all the doubters, sorry you feel that way.
But, if you are wrong, you have to admit you were totally wrong and a complete tool, and give us an explaination for why you were spouting off a crap rumor. (You made it up for attention, you were lying, whatever.....)
For those who missed it, there was a poster here last year who did the EXACT same thing that Makel is doing now....EXACT. Her "uncle" was managment at SFA and they were getting 3 new coasters for 2006. She described them in detail on many occasions, and despite everything we said, swore up and down that she was right and "We'll see" when it get's announced. Well, we all know what happened at SFA this year, but it was priceless to see her try to explain why she was wrong :)
For the record, I hope your rumor is true, but I really don't think for a split second it is. *** Edited 9/20/2006 1:49:08 AM UTC by Peabody***

Gee, those 5 year olds are going to pissed when they see a new coaster in Wiggles World they aren't tall enough to ride.
Seriously, though, not trying to feed the trolls, just looking for any excuse to post some fruit salad...
(and I didn't even have to click the link :) )
...wait, that's just sad.
All of you act like your on the board of SFI, when I already know 150% fact that this roller coaster is happening.. let me take you through a tour of some of my breaking news at GADV.com:
"Kingda Ka....456ft tall........128mph"OH REALLY?

Well, There is your 2005 Rollercoaster Ladies and Gentleman.
Not what I expected.
Well Nhl, think I had the time to sit there and make all that up? Yeah, good one. Those are your specs, whether you like them or not!" Wait, I guess I could have made all of those specs up right? This post was on September 29th during the afternoon, NOWHERE ON the web could you find these specs. Wait, they all called my fools bluff.
You've said your piece. You've gotten feedback from the general consensus.
So what?
Should these guys be fawning all over you, hailing you as the next savior of classified amusement park information?
Because if the answer is, "no" - then you've gotten pretty much all of the reaction you're going to get and the attention whoring is rather unflattering.
My advice? Come back with this info about a year or so from now when anybody might remotely care.
So what exactly will go on in this new world? What will exactly start wiggling? What is going to be insane and possibly wiggle?
Oh man makel, the ideas are endless. I am now starting to see the light (AKA Joliet Jake). :)
You are my newfound hero. Thanks for gracing us with your prescence on Coasterbuzz.
My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

IIRC, you posted that info on gadv.com like 24 hours before it was officially announced. That's not really being "in the know".
Now I'm not saying you are right or wrong, and quite frankly I couldn't care less. I think everybody else feels the same and that's why you are getting the attitude you think you're getting or whatever. Right now there is no way to prove you right or wrong, so it's just senseless to go and kiss your ass. I don't think anybody really thinks you're right/wrong/whatever, but why would people thank you or congratulate you when we have to wait a year to find out if it's true?
Just relax. If you're right, you'll get your praise...
In a year.

Yeah...especially since a whole lotta people knew about King-of-Krap loooooooong before that ;)
Um yeah, Shapiro obviously can't wait to plop down another $20+ million on an unproven Intamin coaster when he can't even fully staff his parks.
This is the most idiotic crap posted here since the 500ft rumors. ;)

His only posts are in 2 threads, where he's only talked about this topic. He's made it clear he's already not welcome at another message board, so considering he registered here only for the purpose of revealing this "news," I get the feeling he's not going to last that long. Trolls and spammers tend to be flash in the pan type things anyway...
