Six Flags New Stuff

I still think its weird to see the Goliath name given to a Batman clone, should be interesting though. Batman is known for being a compact design so I guess a name implying great size doesn't seem fitting ( then again the other batman clone Great White is only 30 mins or so away )
Aside from the constant complaints of "clone" rides. I think Six Flags is making the best move it has made in a long time.

The ride's they are putting in are proven rides that a sure to be a success. Most of them are smaller rides are what I consider all-around rides for everyone.

For anyone saying Shapiro is building a whole bunch of coasters. All the rides that have been announced are ones that make sense for that park. Unlike the old management that put a very large investment like S:ROS in a park that can't really support such a ride like Darien Lake.

So SFKK isn't getting ANYTHING? I thought Shapiro liked our park.....:(. Please, at least some type of flat!

I was hoping SFKK would get something as well, although not because it had to do with Shapiro liking the park. It's been 2 years since Top Eliminator Dragsters was closed down and the area blocked off. The pathway back to Twisted Twins really needs to be reopened for better park flow, and I figured this would be the year they got around to it.

Is it for sure they done with announcements, though? I mean, supposedly there's an eighth coaster yet to be revealed. Of course that could be an error on the part of the news source. But also, only two kiddie areas were announced other than the seven coasters, that seems a little odd........I'd hope there are some more non-coaster additions as well

And that's what I was hoping SFKK would add - either a flat or two or a kiddie/family area. Save the coaster for a year or two later, we need new flats and/or family rides after losing Quake, Chaos, Great Race, Thriller Bees, ect. *** Edited 9/27/2007 10:28:30 PM UTC by MrPKI***

Any chance that the Wild Wedgie could be a Deluge-style ride, which may be close enough to a coaster that they considered it one for the press release?

As for those Dark Knight rides, what is the capacity of the mouse at Disney like? If it is decent, and considering that Disney installed one I would think they would be at least okay... no? Anyway, I think this could be really neat. It sounds like it will really be themed, which would be new for Six Flags as a chain, and something that I would love to have at their parks when I go. I don't always need Nitro, sometimes I'm in a Dark Ride mood. Now I'll have one :)

I just found something interesting.

If you look on SFKK's website they're advertising '08 season passes (suprise, suprise), and they have this little "Six reasons to buy an '08 pass" campaign. One of the reasons mentioned is "Nine World Class Coasters". Now even if you count Twisted Twins as two coasters (as SF commonly does) you only come up the 8 as the park total.

Now this could well be a mistake on the website's part, but it makes you wonder.;) Here's the link to the page for anyone interested.

Edit: Looking at the post above me, it's possible they could be counting Deluge as one of the nine, so it may not be of any significance after all. *** Edited 9/27/2007 11:17:07 PM UTC by MrPKI***

They do count Deluge as a coaster. It was promoted as one before it opened.

TT is counted as 2 coasters.

You have 9 at the park.

shh... Don't complain about your home park not getting anything on this site, you will get flamed.

A day at the park is what you make it!

Did it look like I was complaining? I was just saying what I hoped the park would get. I have another home park too.;)

I can't believe I didn't think of Deluge being the ninth coaster, though. Typical for Six Flags I guess.

That's true only if you work the complaint into every single post you make regardless of the topic. Not that anyone around here does that [cough::cough::BATWING FAN SFA::cough::cough]

Who is BATWING FAN SFA?

Is he the guy that sold me that broken record? ;)

Any idea on where the Dark Night at SFGAM is going? Is it the location next to Superman that was rumored?
I thought I read somewhere that at least one of these Dark Knight coasters is replacing Deja Vu.

I think I was wrong. I believe Thomas Town is replacing SFOG's Deja Vu. Not sure about Great America.

Georgia's Vu is leaving; Thomas Town is taking it's place. Great America's Vu is rumored to be going away as is SFMM's. Shapiro has a hard-on about removing rides with excessive downtime and/or are a drain on the maintenance budget. Flashback, Psyclone, Chiller, the Vu's...those are but the tip of the iceberg.
^ I wouldn't say Psyclone fit any of those descriptions. It certainly had very little downtime and was neither a huge maintenance nightmare either.

However, I do know that its very low patronage helped lead to its demise -- not to mention all the complaints of bodily injury and headache logged in at Guest Relations. No joke, the coaster was ridden about as much as Gene Shalit's dick.

Six new coasters together that cost the company less than what was spent on Tatsu alone.

I hate to nitpick, but each Dark Knight is $7.5 million, the woodie is $7 million, and each Tony Hawk is $6.5 million, for a total of $42.5 million. Tatsu was only $21 million.

But if your point was that they're spending much less on coasters now, now that Shapiro is in town, then yes, they are.

However, $7.5 million seems like an awful lot for a wild mouse, considering they could spend an extra $4.6 million and have a Fahrenheit.

^ It's not nitpicking! You're just correcting me. I obviously did not do a proper add up of the money spent on those coasters...but yes, that's the point I was trying to get across. They're spending less on coasters now.

As for the $7.5 million price tag for The Dark Knight coasters, I think that also includes the money that will be spent on the building enclosure and the queue theming.

^Not just the queue theming, but the theming that will be involved while riding them.
