Six Flags New Stuff

Goliath!?! I have a better idea for SFFT's Batman clone.....

JAMES BROWN: The Ride - The hardest working coaster design in history!

^^^ Didn't see that post coming from a mile away.
For the person that said they hope it's enclosed... all 3 of them say that they're in "total darkness", so I'd say yes.
Total darkness is both cool and boring. It makes things unexpected but also says "we were too cheap to spend money on theming." ;)
Moosh is right, it sounds like a mouse... but I can't figure out the 32 capacity on Six Flags' site. Mack's lists the Wild Mouse as 4 people per car and 17 cars.
^^^^^^That's better than a thought it was going to be. I like Mack mice like California Adventure. I hope the darkness doesn't make it worse though.

All these roller coasters are kind of cheap now. I don't see tons and tons of people pouring in for any of these rides except maybe Fiesta Texas. And this is supposed to be the thrilling year (not the Kid Year). I really doubt that attendance will increase by a lot in 2008 based on these rides except maybe Fiesta. *** Edited 9/27/2007 3:17:06 PM UTC by Spinout***

32 people per hour? This is Six Flags we're talking about, lol.
Mack Mice have 8 cars with 4 passengers each, that's how they are getting the 32.

Also as proof, the Six Flags coasters are listed as being 1,213 feet long, the same as the standard Mack mouse.

Add that to the 6 hairpin turns that Mack Mice have, well I think we've got a match.

Can you IMAGINE the LINE for these coasters next summer! Eeeks.

Umm...hate to be the bearer of bad news but that sounds like a Mack Mouse.

I'm thinking the same thing. That or an e-motion coaster.

I was a tad surprised to see the "vandalized train platform" description. Didn't they "de-vandalize" Batman: The Ride because it wasn't "family friendly"? Now they're putting in new vandalized rides?

I'm really excited to get a new coaster at Great Adventure, especially since The Chiller is going away. But, I have to be honest and say they really need a new branding team. Naming every coaster in your chain Batman or Superman is starting to get VERY confusing - even for enthusiasts. I also don't buy the cr@p about the general public not knowing any better. I talk to plenty of "average" park guests and they get confused very easily. *** Edited 9/27/2007 3:26:01 PM UTC by halltd***

They should use some other characters other than Batman such as Batgirl, Robin, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, and so on. They could use villians like Poison Ivy, Catwoman, Mr. Freeze, Doomsday, Lex Luther and so on. Yes, they do have some roller coasters by those characters, but for Mr. Freeze, they only have two not including the Chiller which is more about Batman and Robin I guess than Mr. Freeze.

If they have a Batman ride, they should name another thing they want to add something different like above. They could even have named this ride, Joker's something. I thought Joker's Revenge, or even Jinx was a good name. *** Edited 9/27/2007 3:36:05 PM UTC by Spinout***

I don't know what the problem is with the name. ITs not like they are adding a third batman coaster to great adventure. They are replacing a batman coaster with another batman coaster.

This also gives them the chance to cross market with the movie. Now if they were smart they will have an advertisement for the ride that goes on before the movie starts.

^^^ Is the vandalization going to be there when the ride opens, or is Six Flags merely finding a way to explain how the ride is going to look in a few week's time?

^ I don't have a problem with the name because "The Dark Knight" seems to be the official name, allowing the Batman name to fade into the background.

The youngstar coaster also fits this profile so dont rright away start thinking this is a wild mouse. Actually I think all of mack coasters can be made to fit 32 people.

Sierra Sidewinder also has 2 trains of 16 people each. *** Edited 9/27/2007 3:42:36 PM UTC by majortom1981***

I'm inclined to think this isn't a wild mouse. Great America's getting one and they already have a wild mouse-style coaster. Granted, it's going to be indoors, but still...
I believe completely that it's going to be a wild mouse. Great America has one, but it's not the same. It spins, and thus it's completely different. I hate the spinning mice, but the other mice; I love like California Adventure.
^^ I take that back. Can I do that? ;)
From Press Release:

"The Dark Knight Coaster will use storytelling, physical movement, video, sound and special effects to bring guests a one-of-a-kind dark ride experience."

I think it could also be like sierra side winder. Thats a new type of spinning coaster right? How does that compare to a wild mouse? *** Edited 9/27/2007 4:31:36 PM UTC by majortom1981***
If it spun, I'm sure they would have said that.
I agree they do sound like wild mouse coasters, but the Euro-Mir also has hairpin turns so I don't think you can completely rule out a spinner. (Though I tend to agree with halltd that they would have mentioned the spinning in the description.)

Anyone else think they kind of skimped on the Thomas Town for SFoG? The Thomas ride will be a huge hit, no doubt, but I would have thought a Bertie the Bus and/or Harold the Helicopter would have been included as well.

I think the Wiggles World will be a smash at the Great Escape. (I know my son would love it!)

Anyone else surprised there wasn't a single waterpark attraction announced given the trend of the past couple of years? Kind of shocked there weren't a couple of new slides here or there.
