Six Flags is cleaning up

At least I think we can all agree that 3 million for Operation Spygirl was not a very good investment.

I also think is hard to really get to the bottom of the DV debate without knowing exactly how much money it was costing to maintain it on an annual basis. Spinout, you seem pretty knowledgeable--any estimates?
I am not hating on the Gem of a Park Marriott opened in 1976. Or the park that closed out the 2005 season. It's what has become of this park under Shapiro that causes anger. All we need is a kick back to the thrill ride direction we once owned and all will be well. We didn't need 3Million dollars wasted on SpyGirl which the general public panned. 2007 was not one of Six Flags shining moments. Maybe the B@M Dive Coaster for 2009 will snap us out of our boring routine, but that's not set in stone yet. I beg everyone to go to Great America in 2008 they need all the help we can offer.

I also wanted to note that after years of problems Cedar Point didn't give up on Dragster. Every visit this year it operated with very little down time, interesting a park staying commite to a ride.

^^^I have no idea.

I don't believe Six Flags is willing to spend the money to get a B&M Dive Machine. I'm thinking it's not going to happen, and a Euro-Fighter or something less expensive is more in the range they are going to put in. A 16 million ride is too expensive for them now under Shapiro.

I am so sorry for any confusion I caused on my last post. I was just pointing out that while high maintanence rides are leaving Six Flags, Cedar Fair is doing all they can to save them. Next year Dragster and Son of Beast will operate while De Ja Vu's and Chillers are gone. I do believe in 2009 if Great America doesn't get the B@M Dive Coaster Great Adventure will. Keep in mind 10 million to rebrand a ride at M.M., why not build a reliable one for 16 million. However as I said before I would rather see anything then a multi seat coaster at Great America. Counting to four has been a problem since Iron Wolf Opened. All will be fine in 2009 and I'm sticking to that.
Did you guys see the wonderful wooden coaster layout for California's Great America? Since Gurnee is built a little larger in scale, (Yes, I have been to both) just think of the possiblities around our full scale Sky Trek Tower. I will admit I'd much rather see a Maverick type coaster built in that spot, talk about bringing crowds back. Build that and Great America will never be the same. Dreaming is a good thing to do..some dreams do come true.

Just received a new Great America Christmas Season Pass offer. One free 32oz mug and one free all day refills, plus .99 refills all season. As a first step towards next season this is a very welcome one. Oh I can express many feelings about the park, however they know my true feelings and good intentions. That soil it sits on in Gurnee is sacred to me.

They must have SOLD one of the Deja Vu's, or Six Flags _______ _______ is saying let's keep Deja Vu up another year.

The Kontiki, and S&S ride are no longer available either. The Round-Up is in the process of being sold, I'm guessing.

^SFMM has basically confirmed they're keeping their Vu for the time being. Probably letting the "immense disappointment" from Psyclone's removal work its way out of the system... ;)

But SFMM's wasn't listed for sale. There were 2 listed for sale (SFGAm & SFOG), and now there's only one available.

"Nevermind".... ;)

Interesting that SWAT has also sold....love that ride, even if the cycle could use a little something extra...

What amazes me is when I point out a great deal Great America is offering for 2008, and say it's a step in the right direction Chitown shakes his head. Where's the love, join me at the park next year and will go over both positives and negatives. My truth from your fiction and end the name calling. Come/see/learn/understand/most things actually are good/However amazing landscaping in 2007 was posted and received the biggest laugh of the year. We will show you the truth and the truth will set you free. Remember it's November and the parks operating at it's best CLOSED!

Happy Holidays even to the haters. Peace on earth good will towards man.

When you get your head out of your ass, let me know. What have you been pointing out in great deal that SFGAm is offering in 2008? You also need to quit the religious type statements when it comes to this subject. This isn't church or any other sacred ground. It's actually an insult.

If you think Burke was a better CEO then Shapiro, explain why he is gone and his "plop a bunch of multi-million dollar coasters in parks every year" method didn't work.

You aren't a just a coaster tool, you are the toolbox.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

Nobody said SFMM's Deja Vu was for sale, which it wasn't anyway, just to set the record straight...again.

As for the impri site now only listing one unit for sale, we can all naturally and safely assume that one of them is going through a sale pending. Whether it was the SFoG or SFGAm unit that was sold really should be of no significance. ;)

Im suprised how quickly the Six Flags rides are actually selling, and the fact that they are actually selling is impressive as well. Interesting to watch...
Wow, rejecting my olive branch. Keep in mind under Burke Great America was Six Flags cash cow. Now we bailed out alot of other mistakes he made, however he rewarded the park yearly. Now Shapiro who grew up going to this park just doesn't understand what people expect at Great America. Go ahead spend tons of money on rehabing X give Gurnee Mack in a Box. Funny how M.M. was a park he wanted to sell now he's dropping millions on Arrows final flop. People on posts locally commonly refer to Shapiro as the Devil, I wonder why. I personally agree with many of the family friendly ideas. I love shows, Parades, Looney Tunes meet and greet. Food is getting better but here is another thought to rattle your cage, have you noticed since he both Johnny Rockets no other new food deals have arouse. Now don't you find that just a bit strange? I sure don't, again he is free to plop 6 J.R. in each park. Don't worry his days are even more numbered Rueters contanstly points this out. I wish no chain down turns in attendence and spending. Again, ask yourself why is this happening, don't blame Burke. Why do locals call him names? Why do people who work for him have a whole different view this year from last? Could it be the upcoming Full-Time staff reductions? The fact regular employees are walking billboards for Heinz Ketcup, I really love the caps. Finally answer me this how can Cedar Point balance the best Coasters with more family friendly areas then Six Flags Parks? Has he even been to Cedar Point? I doubt it he would have learned a thing or two.
The center of the universe apparently also known as SFGAM already has a hyper, an invert, a flying coaster, an Impulse, a stand-up, a racing woodie, a Cy-clone, a spinning mouse, an Intamin drop and a whole separate waterpark sitting next door.

At some point in time--big budget or not--you're just plain gonna run out of 'big projects that (purportedly) bring in the crowds' to throw at it. Honestly.

Besides the waterpark, which apparently brings in more people than it can handle almost every day. Would you cheer if they built another wavepool and three dozen slides? Actual 'crowds' be damned, I'm thinking no.

And how many kids do you have and what are their ages? When mine were tiny, they picked SF's offerings above CF's each and every time.

So what are your 'ideas' and how would they work? A $25 million project that CP can only afford because they're filling resort hotels, too? A $15 million project unlike one they already have? The GP's been doing B&Ms longer than anyone else in America. Nothing new there. And another hundred or so foot-tall woodie? Oh, please. They have two of those already. It wouldn't do much.

I'm waiting with bated breath for more run-on sentences!

Okay, fine. I'm lying. But we all know they're on the way...

Uhm, I seriously doubt that you know enough people on a personal enough basis that work at one of the Six Flags parks to make a blanket statement about their feelings about Shapiro as a CEO. Remember -- the ones who are ride operators don't exactly matter. The ones who work the whole year do.

Oh, and since I actually do have a couple friends at one of the parks, your statement about the "upcoming" full-time staff reductions is most obviously wrong.

I guess there really isn't a need to point out the problems with your posts any further, as I'm sure you'll think that (and Chitown's) responses are "blind to the reality of the situation" or whatever, but if you aren't willing to listen to reasonable opinions from other people, I'd suggest giving up or taking the time to formulate a really thought through response. You're not convincing anyone on here about anything that you have said.
