There is still a good sized parking lot between where the woodie is going in and where that tacky theater with the castle motif is. The other thing they could do is move parking back to the other side of the park which is where parking and the park entrance originally was when the park was called Mutton Hollow. This will be the third incarnation of this park.

Remember, this park had a few parking lots in the area. The photo on the link will show you where this woodie is going... Firestorm will be going in the area where the min- golf courses are located(see photo).

The total land for the new park is 112 acres. That is a pretty decent sized park. With 25 attractions, that also is a very good number to start. I'm sure some of the 112 acres will be set aside for expansion.

Well, considering their 2 flagship parks bring in over 5 million visitors per year, I think they can afford a laser light show with some fireworks. Remember, this park will be like a Pleasure Island with boardwalk style rides and it will only operate in the late afternoon to early morning hours.
I think this is what Branson has been dying for. If you have ever been there, you will know that after SDC and White Water close, there is basically nothing to do after 9pm. This park will give people a reason to hang out in town into the late hours instead of heading back to the hotel to go to sleep. Nightlife helps out the Disney parks a bunch, and this park will do the EXACT same thing to Branson visitors.
Come on... riding a top 10 woodie, then walking across the way to get a mixed drink, then watching a cool laser light show.. what could be better???? :)

If a Six Flags park can have nightly fireworks, SDC can have nightly fireworks.

SDC Inc I am betting does very well profit wise with its parks and other properties, so, if they say they will have fireworks and lasers I got to believe them. SDC and DW I bet have higher per-caps than other parks with maybe the exception of some Disney parks.

Riding that top 10 woodie while fireworks blur as you fly around the turns and dive down the drops.

Well, I'm not sure about the high capacity of the SDC parks. Maybe I'm wrong on this one. After searching both of there sites, I found that Dollywood brought in 2.5 million visitors for 2001, and Silver Dollar City had 2.4 million, which is by far both parks most succesful seasons ever.
I was thinking this could mean that Dollywood will eventully gain a "Celebration City" of its own. It might take a while, but I could definitley see it happening.

I mean that visitors to SDC and DW spend more money compared to other parks because of all the shops, great food, crafts, etc. The official CCity press release from SDC Inc. states that there will be a " tremendous outdoor laser production show" and does not mention fireworks. http://sdcprops.silverdollarcity.com/press_releases/celebrationcity.asp

One thing about the attendance is that these parks stay open longer into the year. How late do they operate? This obviously helps the attendance, but are the people visiting in the winter paying as much to enter and buying as much stuff while in the park?
Anyway, I think this park could thrive. It's looking like they are trying to fill a particular niche that should definately produce some peeps. It should also help keeping people out of their rooms and spending money instead.
DW and SDC are open till late December for the Christmas season. Lots of wassel, hot cidar, orniments/decorations, etc. sold during this time of the year. If I remember right admission price is slightly lower during this time. Coasters are open weather permitting. Needs to be roughly above 45 degrees or so.
Silevr Dollar City's most heavily attended day nomally falls during the Christmas season.
Dollywood's most heavily attended day is during the Grand Opening Weekend Celebration with Dolly Parton.

Yea, thats what I thought. Ever from the beggining, they've said it would be something like Citywalk or Pleasure Island.
I wonder how there "Laser and Pyrotechnics Show" will do. They'll keep it nightly for the first season, and after that they'll start that "on a budget" crap

The Policy at SDC was WildFire and Thunderation can opperate at 33 degrees without any rain or snow, and 38 degrees with rain or snow. I know for a fact that the min temp is not 45 degrees otherwise thier rides would hardly ever be open in The Early Spring or Late Fall. I been to SDC enough and I was told be a reliable source about this policy.

Chris,
I never asked anybody and was just going on my personal observations that the times I am there during in the winter that the coasters run weater permitting and they seemed to stop running TNT and WF if the temp got below the mid 40s. Some reliable source told you 33 or 38 or whatever then fine.
