Posted | Contributed by Tekwardo

Shanghai Disneyland will close its gates on Saturday in an effort to stop the spread of a new SARS-like virus that has killed 26 people and sickened at least 881, primarily in China. It’s not known when the theme park may reopen.

The 60's TV show. I know I last watched it early in my childhood because it was before I would recognize Morticia as attractive.

The have to let a little sunshine in too, right? So bleach can have maximum effect. Thats what I heard anyway.

And lets hope the worst thing that happens to Simon with Covid is watching the Addams Family.

My dentist has classic TV running (Addams Family and Munsters mostly). Think its to take your mind off any dental procedures: compared to those shows, a root canal doesn't seem so bad.

I was just watching the original Addams Family the other day for the first time in years and yes, Morticia is smokin' hot. (Sometimes literally.)

I think that it held up really well.

The laugh track is weird (Simon: "Who keeps laughing?"), but it's not as silly or dumb as I expected.

If you have Disney+, the Fauci doc is available now. It's pretty good. It's really interesting because they cut it in a way that compares the pandemic response to that of AIDS in the late 80's and 90's, both of which he was there for. Interesting how he was the villain then from all sides, but the underlying problem was remarkably similar, in that people rejected science literacy. Non-experts wanted to set policy.

The guy sure has unfairly taken a lot of crap in the last two years. He seems like a very good human.

Doctors Are Injecting Bleach to Treat COVID in Bolivia

That only proves that Bolivian doctors hate poor COVID patients.

Disney will be proud.

Moderna hates poor people. I don't think people appreciate the risk of not getting the rest of the world vaccinated. Another infection wave could produce a mutation that the vaccines are not effective against, and we're back at square one.

In the case of Moderna, they may appreciate it, they just don't care. Or maybe they see it as another potential business opportunity.

The appalling thing is how much critical public funding they received at the outset (as the NYT article says). They literally wouldn't exist without the government support.

Yeah, I agree with you there. If you take public money, that changes the way you have to engage.

This is a really good read about what to expect for the future of the virus. The last part is particularly worth calling out: Human behavior has more to do with outcomes than that of the virus or its mutations.

Just hit reader view and it bypasses the majority of them.

NYT makes all of the Covid articles free, but I think they still want you to have a login.

The gist is similar to the second half of my post here. (from 6 months ago)

COVID-19 is not going away. It will likely evolve into a mild threat like the flu or cold. There's an off chance it mutates in exactly the right way in people still spreading it (the implication is those still not vaccinated and/or not taking precautions, like masks) and gets ahead of our current vaccines and become even more deadly.

*shrug*

Does that science include telling people they will literally get AIDS from sharing a box of serial with an AIDS patient? ( Yes, he actually said that) Man, he was so spot on (eye roll)

Imagine a disease so deadly that you no longer need hundreds of thousands of nurses as firing them seems to be this administration's strategy.

I find it "interesting" (read: telling) that the vast majority of the criticism leveled against Fauci has to do with things other than science or come from a misunderstand of what science is. We've said it a million times already, but all I hear is "You can't tell me what to do!"
