All I need is 4.5 million bucks and a half a mile long sliver of land and maybe someone could build me my very own Shivering Timbers. ;)

V2SFGAm: you don't need to make two posts for two different thoughts. you can combine them in one post and seperate them into paragraphs.
as for the amount of time, well it depends on the weather a bit. if there's ten feet of snow on the ground all winter, then it may take a little longer than expected to remove SW and build Supers. it should be open when the park opens, if not a few weeks later. most coasters are finished well before the park opens so even with the lag of the construction start date, the ride should be on schedual. we're talking about a Beemer here, the first train out of the station always runs exactly the way Walter and Claude want it to.
I just had a good idea for a flyer in New Orleans. it goes along with the Delta Flyers name. basically, I was looking at the coasters in Old Indiana and picked part of a name from there. Delta Demon. I know it may be confusing with another Demon being in the park, but it would probably fit better than invading space crabs and a superhero from up north.

Do any of you know how to build a sundial out of a pen and a donut?

Honestly, I really hope Shockwave stays and this coaster new will have us flying near or inside Shockwave's footprint. I agree, Shockwave has been rough and nowhere near the stellar attraction it was when it opened in 1988, but I sincerely hope that something can be done either to the trains or track to fix it. It's a beautiful ride. I have such fond memories of this coaster, and I will be sad to see it go. I’m hoping the equipment by Shockwave is simply for maintenance purposes.
When or if it actually is removed, I will try to post some newspaper clippings I have from it’s opening year. Shockwave’s debut got quite a lot of coverage back then. I dare say that the hype was almost comparable to “X” or “Millennium Force” (It was the tallest coaster in the world with the most inversions at the time.) I recently came across these clippings when I visited my parents this summer. It’s amazing the things a 30 year old discovers when he goes to clear out some of his possessions from his childhood home.
;-)
(Funny… I still fell like I’m in my late teens or early twenties. Some people never grow up.)
greghaus - Sounds like you're in the same boat as me. I'm dependent on the CTA/Metra/Pace to get to SFGAm, as well. It's actually pretty easy and hassle free to get to the park that way, even if it does take a little longer.

Does anyone have a site with shockwave deconstruction photos up yet? Which means the crane around it and the equipment.
edit: Nevermind I just checked coasterworld. Thanks BullGuy.

question is, are you bold enough to go over to 63rd and King Drive :)

Hostyl - I'm *bold* enough, but I don't really want to be bothered with owning a car right now. I just don't *need* one. I actually had a car, and got rid of it as it was an unwanted expense for me.
People that I know that live outside of the city think I'm insane for not owning a car, but it's really not that big of a deal. In fact, I know people that let their car sit for days on end because they either don't want to give up their spot or they simply don't need to drive that often.
Besides, when I want to go on a 'liberal' crying spree about oil consumption, the environment, and other matters, no one can say that I'm being hypocritical. I'm conserving fossil fuels by taking those 'efficient' CTA busses. ;)
