Before this is closed, want to get one thing in...
Hoochie comments aside, I do agree with MPG on one thing. It seems that you are "allowed" to write a bad review about certain parks, but yet other parks are "untouchable"... write one unflattering word about "favorite" parks (even though you may have said nothing but good things about that same park in the rest of your TR), and you are flamed.
Some people just can't seem to fathom the fact that not everyone loves their favorite parks, and that... now prepare yourselves and sit down for this one... a person can have a crappy day at any park on any given day.

PS to SLFAKE - Anyone who thinks certain parks are 'untouchable' obviously hasn't read the CPlaya 100 reviews....especially parks 4 and 5 (SFGAM and CP). Click down below and enlighten yourself. I haven't been flamed yet.

I really think sfgam is a great clean park! CP has all the big roller coasters and great rides, but the place is disgusting! The resterants at CP are what really got me. It was old and had some really bad upkeep and I didn't really want to eat there. It was really gross. Also I wouln't complian about the pleople there and what they wear because that is what most teenage girls wear! And at CP I have never seen so many hicks in my life! IMO SFGAm is a very well run and clean park. If you don't like it don't go, no one is forcing you to go.

Yes I WAS wearing the CP shirt. What about it? I have CP on my license plates too. Is there something wrong with that??
Perhaps there's nothing wrong with it, but it screams one thing to me...PO!NTER! Which, from what I've seen, means that no matter how well another park performs, it can *never* compare to Cedar Point. Plus, you picked on some relatively minor things, as the actual *operation* of the park seemed to be pretty good on your visit.
As for the comments made by several that people who make more money enjoy high class entertainment? I don't think that's true. My father is a CEO and makes over $600,000 a year and he *loves* coasters and amusement parks, he's ridden over 300 coasters and visited more parks than me! He thinks opera is boring. Hell, he's even started posting to r.r-c! We even still have a car we use for our park trips that has over 170,000 miles on it! When we go to parks together, we bring the "crap car" to the park so as to minimize its risk of getting keyed, windows smashed, etc. Of course, he does feel that alot of the clientele is uncivilized and animal-like, but you find that everywhere nowadays.
Just my $0.05...

Is there that big of a cultural difference from place to place that "hoochie" has a negative connotation? People I know here in Northeast Ohio use the word to describe any female who dresses in a manner that causes you to notice their goodies, and that's a good thing.
I think there is. Here in Central New Jersey, calling a girl a "hoochie" would almost certainly get you nothing but slapped. I've never heard "hoochie" used in any way *except* as a negative connotation. Heh....

Not sure I would consider a person a PO!NTER simply because they are wearing a CP T-shirt. Personally, I usually wear a coaster or park T when visiting a Park, but never related to the park that I am visiting. Last week at Darien Lake, I wore a Gwasi T (I think). At Conneaut Lake and Waldameer I wore a Talon T. At Kennywood I wore a S:RoS from SFDL. Funny thing is... I don't even own a T from my home park (Hershey... plenty of hockey stuff... but no park stuff). So, a T from a certain park doesn't mean you are hopelessly and mindlessly devoted to that park.
That being said.... CP on your liscense plate... hmmm... well... okay, now perhaps you have crossed the line and can becalled a PO!NTER.
Because it is not right to do so!! Plain and simple. Why should others have to wait in line to get wet and some just do their own thing?? Not right. And people who have the attitude of "entitlement" to do so are wrong too.No one is "entitled" to anything...you have to EARN it!!
Who gives a crap about following Rules, I still feel there is absolutly nothing wrong with standing on a bridge to a water ride to get wet, I mean its not like its against the law, and liable for them to kick you out the park, so people keep braking the rules, WOOHOO, All People are doing is just getting wet by any means possible because its a hot day. Are you seriously telling me, that if the temperature was 80-90 degrees and there is a 1-2hr queue for the water ride, would you queue up to get wet, or just simply stand on the bridge to get wet, Personally, I know what option I would choose every single time and I'm sure others would do the same too.

Yeah, I don't wear coaster/park clothes to the parks either, so that was a moot point. Anyway, I agree with what you said about the t-shirts, but as soon as I read that she has Cedar Point plates too, her TR lost all credibility in my book.

Ive always thought of the term "hoochie" as another word for calling a woman a "Whore" which may be a postiive for some people but wouldnt be considered a positive for most people and i wouldnt want my daughter to called a "hoochie mama".
And back to topic i think it is always good for people too express there thoughts on any park after visiting them and relaying it to us. It does seem some people do take their home parks way too personally and take it as a personal attack if negative comments are made about them. SFGAM is my home park and i think some of the comments made by the poster i agree with and some i dont, but i wouldnt attack that person for expressing herself and her thoughts. No park is perfect and they should be held too high standards and shouldnt be off limits to critiscim.

You will if you ever have your car stolen or a family member killed. You'll probably be screaming how people should follow rules as loud as you can. What a stupid comment you just made there.

Try exiting the ride when 200 people are packed on the bridge trying to get get wet. Especially on a wet bridge over water, your just asking for someone to get hurt. Once more another stupid comment.
I mean its not like its against the law, and liable for them to kick you out the park, so people keep braking the rules, WOOHOO,
You don't have to break laws to get kicked out of a park. If the park wanted to, they could kick you out for standing on the bridge if it's posted not to do it. You know this, so why make such a stupid comment.
All People are doing is just getting wet by any means possible because its a hot day. You know what my option would be, go to a water park. Paul, your comments here are actually discouraging from visiting SFGAm. I almost went last year but held back due to one reason, lines. It is my understanding that SFGAm is always crowded. Now I hear a defender of the park encouraging others to act like fools. So, you won't be seeing me there any time soon. You folks can have your long lines and your people who act like PaulD.
Excuse me for having a bad experience at a "top 5 park" and daring to tell you folks about it. If it's so top 5, then how come it never ranks as such anywhere??
Anyway, I had a bad time and will never go back. Just chalk it up to one less person in line in front of you.
Did you vote for the top park in the coaster buzz awards? Im glad that another person (especially someone with an attitude like yours wont be in line with me). SFGAM can be put up against any park. I have never seen any of what you have described in 50 + visits. It is an earth shaking movement if i see someone linejump at that park, and 90% of the people are good people. Try not being so uptight next time you go, because i know you wont be able to resist a park as good as THAT forever.
peace

I too, can fully understand someone getting upset if a day at a park didn't go completely smoothly for them, but this TR brought that to extremes.
You can't blame the park for what patrons choose to wear, as long as its within the park guidelines for proper attire. And you also can't expect a park to be run like a police state, with security people every 10 feet.
People go to parks to relax, have fun, and enjoy the company of others who are there to do the same thing. There may be a few bad apples that show up, but those few bad apples shouldn't create the impression that the whole tree is rotten.

While I agree that, to a certain extent, a "crowd" has a tendency to come to the defense of high-ranking parks that are shown in a negative light, I think the main problem here is that MPG is seeing this almost as a personal attack against her.
The truth is that some people have good days, and some people have bad days. To the extent that MPG described, it seems that the majority of the problems were caused by the general public, and not necessarily the park (though, I do feel that the excrement issue does go both ways). However, it seems to me that not too many people are taking issue with the original comments she made, but rather with the follow up comments, which seem awfully judgemental and derogatory.
So MPG, please realize that perhaps your defense could have been more eloquent...very few of the comments actually criticize your main points and, to be truthful, it seems the flaming was initiated by your taking offense to someone taking offense to your own words.
I think this topic could be benefited by EVERYONE lightening up just a bit...

How is it a stupid comment, I just voiced my opinion in that I feel there is nothing wrong with standing on a bridge to a water ride to get wet especially if its a Hot day, Lots of Parks allow you to do it on their water chute rides without any trouble at all(BGT,SFMW,SFWOA,CP etc) so why cant all parks allow you to have the same pleasure.
This is quite hilarious that I have discouraged someone from visiting the park when I've never been to SFGAM, and not even a defender of the park. Also I'm not trying to encourage others to act like fools, I'm trying to get people to use common sense into ways of getting wet without queueing up for a water ride if they wish to do so. I do it all the time, and I'm puzzled why other people dont.
Paul,
I'm just amazed at how you quote a message without reading it. The reason it's stupid to crowd a narrow, wet bridge over water is because it's really, really easy for someone to get hurt. When people congregate on the bridge, it gets crowded(are you with me so far). Once the bridge is crowded, it's hard to get through. When people can't get of the ride because too many stupid inconsiderate people are cloggin the ext, people start shoving.(still there Paul?) On a wet crowded bridge, when people start other people will be slammed into railings and some will slip and fall and are then at the risk of being trampled. Now do you understand why parks don't let you stand on the bridge? BTW, I've been to CP and SFWoA and I know for a fact that they don't allow you to enter the bridge through the exit, unlike your claims. Michigan's Adventure doesn't either.
So yes, when you encourage people to jam the bridge exits on shoot the chute rides, you are encouraging foolishness. Other people don't do it because it's dangerous and it's against park rules.
