SFGAM 6/23..never again. NEVER!

Associated parks:
None

Ummm.........PointMan....Please point out where I passed judgement or criticized anyone. All I was doing was urging Ms. MPG not to get so bent out of shape because of a few mishaps at her local theme park.

I'm not trying to make this a personal matter, therefore I don't think I'm understanding the reason for your personal attack on me, seeing as how I've never spoken to you or about you before.

And as for stoogemanmoe, I'm sure he will be more than happy to defend himself without any help from me, as I believe in the ability of people to fight their own battles.

The statement

"You are much too much judgemental and critical of others to truly be Pagan at heart." is a judgement on the personal character of MPG. You don't know MPG and I'll bet your not a recognized authority on paganism. This is statement was a personal attack against her with no merit.

"I don't think I'm understanding the reason for your personal attack on me"

If you wish to consider my last posting a personal attack that's your business. I was merely pointing out that your message and Stoogemanmoe's were personal attacks against MPG.

"And as for stoogemanmoe, I'm sure he will be more than happy to defend himself without any help from me, as I believe in the ability of people to fight their own battles."

Who's fighting a battle? MPG simply posted her opinion about SFGAm. She has a right to her opinion and attacks on her ability to be a mother and attacks on her religious beliefs are just way out of line. I didn't know we were at a battle forum, where attacks on one's character and religious beliefs were considered proper.

I have to agree with Pointman. MPG is entitled to her opinions. Although her "hoochies" and "gangbanger" comments are just as offensive, she was not personally attacking anyone in particular. I guess the scantilly clad young females at my home park of CP would fall under the "hoochie" category as well. Heck, even I probably did at one time, 20 odd years ago.

There is no telling how the excrement got there. Assuming someone did it on purpose seems a bit far-fetched to me, but not out of the realms of possibilities, I guess. It could very well have been an accidental dropping by a child who simply waited too long to hit the bathroom.

I AGREE that the park is responsible for keeping their pathways and restrooms clean. No one knows how long that mess was there (unless MPG checked back often to see if and when it was cleaned up). Being stepped in doesn't tell how long it was there, it could have been stepped in immediately after it was "deposited". Regardless, I would be more inclined to believe the park was not keeping up with cleanliness if there were several instances of filth, not just one.

I also look at the overall experience in a park when I make judgements as to whether I would go back or not, including cleanliness and all around atmosphere. Great rides with little to no wait are wonderful, but not the only reason I visit.

I do not, though, place the blame on any park for the behaviour of the guests. In many cases, the swearing, obnoxious and rude behaviour of guests cannot be adequately controlled, and is simply something I've learned to live with in this day and age.

I can't tell you how many times I've lectured some youngster in line near me for his/her behavior. Most times they are embarassed and stop the behaviour. Sometimes if it continues, my admonishments are supported by other adults around me (i've found that if you find the courage to speak up, support is soon to follow). In on-going worst cases, I report the behaviour to someone in the park providing a full description of the person(s).

As for the bridge incident, although CP has a sign that only so many guests are allowed at one time, and for only 1 or 2 splashes, that rule is broken often, even with an employee monitoring it. Afterall, on very hot, sticky days, everyone wants to cool off. Rules get bent and broken, and it can be frustrating if you are trying to abide by the rules, and others are not. But once again, that's something I've learned to live with. Life is too short to sweat the small things.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

Whoa!! Hang on here! Who is attacking anyone's religious beliefs?? Didn't I state that I was Pagan as well? I've been practicing Wicca for 5 years now! I think people are taking my comments WAY out of context!

And I in no way said anything personal about MPG. I merely thought that she was stressing too much about something that was beyond her control anyway. If that is offensive, I apologize. Of course she is entitled to her opinions. I don't think I claimed otherwise......

Yes I WAS wearing the CP shirt. What about it? I have CP on my license plates too. Is there something wrong with that??

As far as whether I am a good motheror not, I have no kids yet and you better believe they won't behave the way I see some of these kids today behaving.

As for my religious beliefs, that is NUNYA BIZNESS!! But if you MUST know, I am not PAGAN, I am of my own belief system when it comes to that.

I try not to judge others, but when they are encroaching on MY good time, no matter where it is, I am going to make sure people know about it.

Like was said before, I was only posting my opinion about a bad day at a lousy park. Is there an unwritten rule that says ALL TRs have to be happy and great??

If there is a rule like that, maybe Jeff should put it in the TOS or something.

Is there that big of a cultural difference from place to place that "hoochie" has a negative connotation? People I know here in Northeast Ohio use the word to describe any female who dresses in a manner that causes you to notice their goodies, and that's a good thing.

I don't know, Jeff...........The variation of that term that I always heard, "hoochie mama", was always used in connection with a gal who wore "Daisy Duke" shorts and half shirts where the bottom hem barely covered her chestal region.

I guess whether it's good or bad depends on who says it.........If it's a guy, it's usually a compliment. If it's another girl.....it's usually meant as a catty insult. At least that had always been my understanding.

When I say "Hoochie" I don't mean it in a good way. When said "hoochies" don't lookm ore that 14 or 15 years old, that's even worse. If a grown woman wants to look like that, hey, more power to her.

I used to model lingerie for a living so I know from whence I speak. But young teenage girls? I don't think so. Sorry but I find it offensive and a Jenny Jones show in the waiting.

Waaaaaaaay off topic here.... but:

Our 3 1/2 old neice, who for some reason just loves to always be putting on Chapstick, or "Lip-glops" (i.e. Lip Gloss) as she calls it, informed my wife the other day "Mommie says if I put too much lip glops on I'll look like a 'hoochie mamma'."

Not coaster related... but I just thought I would add that to the conversation.

In the neighborhoods that I've lived in for the past 8 years a "hoochie" is a "ho," with nothing positive implied at all.

"drop rides, not bombs."

SFLake, that is truly funny. Kids really DO say the darndest things. I'll bet she was DEAD SERIOUS when she said that too!! :)

Hey, calm down!! I just asked a question. If you were wearing a CP shirt, than I saw you right between Iron Wolf and the Games Gallery.

If you noticed a tall guy with a ponytail and a 7 year old spanish looking girl, then you might have noticed me as well. :)

Nope. Can't say that I did. I'm just not into people watching when I am trying my darndest to limp along to keep up with my ride partner. :)

PointMan said Of course, the philosophy of not passing judgements on others doesn't apply to lallen and stoogemanmoe, only to MPG.

Ummm.. I'm not passing judgement on anyone. Just saying "if". Jeff, I'm with you. If women wnat to show their goods and like showing their goods, well then that's good..lol. Just because a woman dresses scantily, doesn't mean she is a "hoochie". Some women dress that way especially in the summer to stay cool ;) I personnally like looking at the socalled "hoochie ho's". I like to people watch, but I don't stand there and classify people according to what they wear. I made the bootcamp statement in haste and I shouldn't have I'm sorry. But you just can't classify people as to how they lok or how many tattoos they have or how many noserings they wear, and damn people that do judge people like that make me sick to my stomach. As Abe Lincoln said, " all men are created equal". Well, the same goes for each and every person, be it man or woman. Now I'm getting off my soapbox before I fall thru.

MPG, I think I saw you. Was it a black shirt with the blue Cedar Point logo? I could've sworn I saw one out of the cornor of my eye...

-----------------
Down with the trims!

Women who dress like hoochies are actually revealing their insecurities in the sense that they apparently are not confident that their character and personality are enough to attract a man, reducing themselves to a piece of meat and doing a disservice to women in the process in that it conditions men to view women in this manner.

And as far as money goes, I bring home about 12 grand a year. I guess that makes me "lower class" in terms of income but I have more class, dignity and decency than some of the dregs I saw at the park on Sunday.

Lemme share a little observation with everybody here.

I think I'm in a good position to make it because I grew up a middle-class minority who was the 'first on the block' as a kid (and the only one with a pool in the yard), watched NW Detroit change, watched my folks struggle with the decision whether to join the flight to the suburbs and finally leave for a $300K some-odd house adjoining some tony golf course with a guest bathroom bigger than my old bedroom.

Personally, I live about 30 miles outside of the city and commute downtown for work. While I've got a white picket fence (okay, redwood-stained) and my kids grow up in the 'burbs, I still drive almost daily from downtown to 'Da Hood' for lunch....if I don't just take the bus sometimes just to remember what it's like.

I get along with everyone from the dirt-poor to my triple-digit friends and relatives. They're all just people to me.

But I have found that many of the have-nots--regardless of race--tend to run around with this massive inferiority complex. There's this mental scoreboard of sorts they keep checking themselves against. From folks who drive customized, expensive cars but live in hovels to folks on public aid who 'break the bank' to wear expensive clothing to people living in cruddy, third-world suburbs just to say they don't live in 'the ghetto'. I guess it somehow anesthetizes the pain of a life that sucks. I wouldn't know.

What makes it so pathetic is you can't really tell who's who from mere observation...which kid with the 'gangsta lean' actually lives has rich parents in Naperville or Aurora or is really on public aid from the South Side. Nor is a choice of car going to tell you a person's income. My white clerical worker drives a new Mountaineer...and I think she's crazy. It depreciates and rusts just like anything else. Just because I CAN afford it doesn't mean I WILL afford it.

Why can't I shake the feeling that MPG would take one look at me and figure I'm a 'gangbanger' when in reality I'm a family man and she couldn't pay my daycare bill--much less my house note?

No, that makes you a hoochie.

Ride the New England Bush!

Maybe in your eyes it does but at least I make an honest living. I drive a brand new car, have a good job with a big company (just started there so my pay is not that good YET) and I don't walk around with my goodies hanging out for all to see. THAT is why I am not a hoochie!!

Hey Jeff, how about closing this one?? I'm tired of all the personal attacks because I dared to offer a differing (bad) opinion of one of our revered parks.
