If you guys can wait until January 4, it is rehire day for employees and then somebody should be able to figure out what is going on at the park for 2003.
This is the first time I have posted, but I thought I should share my findings. I talked to a security guard from SFSL that used to be a ride op with me and he told me it was a "Zipper" ride. They tore out the Great Escape arcade so they could put it in there. All the arcade stuff is going to Axis Games by Ninja.
That sounds very plausable because towards the season end they started slowly gutting axis of its "carnival" games and then finally in late october, they completely in late October or at least those were my observations. It doesnt make sense to tear out the Great Escape, it seems (from at least the visible parts) that the building is in rather good shape. Also if you take out great Escape there is not much room there to put in that big of a flat and a line.

But what do I know I am jsut a stupied teenager, thats ignorent to the world.

Oh I think not my good buddy bossstl :), I think the Great Escape area would b acceptable. Its not a very big ride and there lots of room around the building itself. I don't know if anyone else noticed this but it was always unreasonably wet in that building...the carpet was always soaking wet and when it rains the place is like a waterfall. So yes! RIP IT OUT! teehee.. And those pieces that are in the parking lot exactly match up to a picture of a zipper. Rounded looking ride vehicles and long supports is what I saw. I think it would make a lovely addition to the park...I love flats, especially Chance Rides. Too bad were not getting a Chaos. *bites lip* I agree with you about the gutting of Axis Games...there was hardly anything in there during FF.
Interesting that a park would be installing a Zipper ride, and in of all places where the Great Escape was.... That would be a tough area to theme a ride like that to.

What exactly is a Zipper ride?

Is there a webstite with a picture of one, and also, will this ride be used, or is it new?

They are sold by Chance Morgan go here for specs and a picture.

WOW, that looks really fun, but i wish is was a tower, like and intamin 3rd generation freefall

I would be a bit surprised if they took out the Great Escape building. But I also can say that by the end of the year it really was the Axis Arcade and not Axis Games. It is a fairly interesting choice for a new ride, if it ends up being true it will probably be a used ride. I guess we will find out soon enough.

Are there any pictures yet?

I personally think the old hannibarrel site would be the best place for any new ride. It is a very vacant part of the park (a lot of those backdrop buildings with no guts). The proposed area (axis arcade) is very busy with tight, congested walkways.

Glad to hear about a new ride nonetheless

Steve

I think the hannibarrel site is only good for one thing...the Hannibarrel's. Put them back!

As for the Zipper...if it is true...that would be a strange addition. Yes, the park can use some more flats, but not one that has a horrible capacity and huge load time. I don't remember off hand how many cars are on a Zipper, but loading two at a time is horrible for capacity.

Are there any other "permanent" parks that have a Zipper in them?

LeSourdsville Lake has one....the park is *permanent*, it's the NAME that appears to be "flexible"....ROFL.

Zippers have 12 cars and load 2 cars [4 people] at a time. Americana and Coney both have Zippers.
