The Sandusky Register is reporting that Space Spiral and Disaster Transport will be removed for a Bolliger & Mabillard wing coaster to open in 2013 at Cedar Point.
Read more from PointBuzz.
Yeah, I'm not sure about that either, early rumors have always been Wing coaster, and the pic of the shipping label kinda confirmed that.
Jesus, now my every word is taken literally? I was joking that the wing coaster for CP is now going to Knott's because of the leak. I guess it isn't funny (or even stupid) if I have to explain it.

I just want to know what happened to the Hooters they were supposed to get.

Be careful, Jeff. The Michigan's Adventure fans will be upset it's not going there. :)
This Isn't A Hospital--It's An Insane Asylum!
If MiA could support a 170' Wing coaster, it would already have been built.

Wow, this page is just dripping with win. Better put $5 in the family dryer and see if that helps with the chafing later on.
Yeah, I know this is probably not how they intended to announce this, but shouldn't the higher ups be pretty good at keeping secrets? Doesn't seem like this was someone who violated a non-disclosure.
I thought it was ironic because there was so much hype for the flume, which really didn't deserve it. Yet here is a ride that deserves the hype and gets announced by accident.
But, "announced" only to people who read the Sandusky Register (I have no joke here) or coaster dweebs...not a big deal. There will still be a big ol' PR push for the GP.
The way I see it, there is some benefit to leaking info in this situation.
Really there isn't much to lose by leaking the info. There is some risk of loosing a competitive edge if someone else is building a wing coaster and they want to one up Cedar Point's stats. At the same time, the seating gimmic is the really marketable part, not the height or speed. When you build a ride like Millennium or Dragster, there is a much bigger emphasis on breaking a height or speed record.
In terms of coaster count, I don't think that really matters if Magic Mountain has more at this point. People are going to be influenced to visit simply because of a new coaster, not because they have more than some park on the other side of the country.

Are you suggesting that any marketing effort going forward is pointless? I think that's a big stretch. If you really want to get down to it, people have been guessing the same thing that the Regisucker reported for at good year or so. No one is any closer to knowing what the name is, the specifics of the layout, potential themes, etc.

If SoCal people complain, then it will go to Dorney, though.
Wrong. Dorney only gets used coasters, remember? :)

I don't think I'm alone here, but I specifically chose a side trip to Waldameer rather than Cedar Point (from Pittsburgh) next week because Cedar Point is building something big next year which I eventually plan on riding and Waldameer probably won't be building anything big in the foreseeable future.
I'm not sure how many people postpone trips to Cedar Point because something big is coming next year, but I bet it's greater than 0.

I know I've made decisions based on what's coming next year and it's the basis behind Universal Orlando's online ad campaign this year.

Hmmm. Let's see.
