RCT3 demo tweaks

I got my problem fixed, it was i didn't have the right driver...hehehe. Wow...runs pretty good on my comp! :)
I got no problems with video my problems are with the sound it cuts out constantly during the intro.... I have a pentium III 800 Mhz, 256 MB memory, ati radeon 9600 128MB and a Sound Blaster Audiology LS sound card. I got the latest sound card drivers but that was no help. anything i need to tweak maybe?

Watch the tram car please....
Lord Gonchar,

Where did you find the hacked drivers for your card? I'm getting crappy rates with my ATI card.

Now I'll have the latest graphics card on my christmass list, mine runs slowly, but I have a 1.8ghz computer. Must need more RAM.

The "latest" will set you back $500, which is a total waste of money if you ask me. I would go for the "second latest."

Heya

i was running at 1600x1200 for a laugh and got about 20frames a second at any given point (between 18 and 22) which is cool for running the game imo. although i did turn reflective water off

Specs = 512mb RAM, Radeon 9600XT, athlon 2500+ *** Edited 9/28/2004 2:20:36 PM UTC by roomraider***

What exactly is your problem, i had some, maybe i can help!

Wow, Jeff! Thanks for the tip! The program was running ok, but lagging. Now it's full speed ahead. Turning off water reflections and terrain textures made an incredible difference! Everything else is working great, sound, night, and all. Although it does take a while to load. But I'm thinking more RAM would help out the situation and I could possibly run it with everything on.

-Dell P4 2.8 GHz
-80GB ATA Ultra Hard Drive
-512MB Dual Channel DDR SDRAM
-128MB DDR NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Graphics Card

One question though. I went into the Options.txt, and the SkipBannerSequence was already set at 0. However, I still get the long annoying banner intro (Atari, Atari copyright, Frontier games, ATI, Atari, Atari, yadda yadda). Any suggestions?

^Set it to 1 instead.

It means you're pretty much F'd. That's ancient video hardware.

Memory and hard drives are not going to fix any of your problems. The key issues are the CPU, the video card and updated drivers. If you have an ATI card giving you crap, ATI posted a driver fix today.

Anyway... If you want a sandbox, rename demo.dat to something else and copy one of the tutorials into the program's root directory and rename it demo.dat. Also, if you want to play longer, apparently it's as easy as starting the game, then pushing your system clock back a day.

Where can I find the information about my graphics card and RAM? And what is RAM anyway?
Wha? Jeff, My system is only 7 months old, and it's not an ATI card, as mentioned. I can't tell if you're refering to my post or not. I'm assuming you're not. (but you know what happens when we assume ;) )

Gonch, I'll try setting the SkipBannerSequence to 1 when I get home from work. Thanks. *** Edited 9/28/2004 5:16:19 PM UTC by Danimales***

Danimales, Jeff was responding to Bakeman's post which Bake had subsequently deleted and posted something else after Jeff.

RAM stands for Random Access Memory. It's like the workspace to put running applications on.

Ahhh! Thanks Redman. I was really confused for a minute there! Although, that's not too uncommon... ;)
So even though my comp runs NoLimits at 60fps, I'm screwed with this game? I can seriously count each individual frame during the demo. It's like a strobe light.

Sorry for deleting my post, I thought my first one was never posted so I kinda repeated myself, but then I found my old one. Anyway, what can I do about this? And where can you turn off growing grass and water reflection? *** Edited 9/28/2004 5:40:40 PM UTC by Bakeman***

RTFM! Come on man... do a little poking around first.

I did and I couldn't find it. Never mind.
Help.

We followed directions for sandbox mode, but are unable to build anything. can see all the pretty land, but the game will not let us place anything.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Anybody figure out yet how to get more time when playing it other than the 45 minutes? There has to be a timer somewhere, where you can change it to give you an unlimited time.

I tried setting my clock back a day, or even an hour (ahead or behind)... and as soon as you mess with the computer clock while the game is in progress, it'll automatically kick you back to the title screen, as if it knows you messed with something!

I'll give anyone a cookie to those who can figure it out first! I'm still messing around, but haven't found it as of yet (or unlimited cash).
