Also you will get better framerates if you take off high quality trees in the options file in the rct 3 demo directory.
P.S. The sandbox thingy didn't work at all. How do i make that work? *** Edited 9/29/2004 11:34:55 PM UTC by Kyle Fobe***

I renamed the scenario3.dat file as demo.dat and was able to get unlimited money and an empty park to build in. No idea how to get rid of that time limit though...
Where did you find the scenario3.dat file that you renamed? I can't seem to find it?
I have not been able to get the time tweak to work yet though :(

Can someone help me, please? I did what both Jeff and Lord G. said about getting into sandbox mode and that works great as I get the piece of land. But I am not allowed to place any rides anywhere. Has anyone else encountered this, and how can I fix it? Thanks a million!

Currently, I'm hitting anywhere from 30FPS to 75FPS with everything turned on and a ton of activity on-screen. If I leave everything on default, it's a steady 75FPS. Mind you, this is at 1024x768. I know it could go higher if I optomize it but I'm ok with at least 60.
Athlon 64 3400+, 1024 meg of RAM, Geforce 6800 Ultra 256meg gfx.
I get 90fps during the day dropping to 65/70 at night. Running 1024x768 with all the options on full.
Dropping to 800x600 i get 100fps.
I still can't get the hang of building coasters though! might be a while before I upload anything. :(
Edited to correct typos as pointed out by the lovely Jeff, I typed the post quickly on my lunchbreak and blatantly wasn't paying attention. *** Edited 9/30/2004 4:42:28 PM UTC by Ross McColl***
2.66 proccesser, 256 MB Memory, 120 GB Hard Drive, 64MB GeForce video card.
The biggest change in hardware is that the new cards (ATI's Xxxx and Nvidia's 6xxx) offload a lot of the work to the card. The prior generations rely more on the CPU. You can get good performance out of a 5700, for example, but only if you have a faster CPU.

Of course, I'm generally on the higher end of the spectrum, but I also game, and write code for a living:
Office PC: Athlon XP-M 2200+ overclocked to 2.2 GHz (making it roughly equivalent to an Athlon XP 3000+); 1024 MB PC3200 RAM; ATI 9700 Pro 128MB; 2 x 100 gig SATA hard drives; Iiyama 22" monitor
Home Theater PC: Pentium 4 1.6A overclocked to 2.3 GHz; 512MB PC2700 RAM; ATI 9600XP 128MB; 30 gig + 160 gig ATA hard drives; Sony 50" LCD rear-projection HDTV :)
On a side-note, RCT3 doesn't seem to accept any resolutions other than 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x1024. I tried installing RCT3 on my HTPC and setting it to 960x734 (the custom 4:3 resolution I use on my TV) by editing the .txt file, and got an assertion failure upon launch. Oh well, worth a shot, for now I'll be running RCT3 on the 22" monitor instead of the 50" HDTV :-)

Gregleg, I just assumed that people talking in a pc game section on a web based forum knew a lot about pc's and had up-to-date systems.
I accept this is an incorrect assumption! I've been hanging out with pc geeks for too long that I expect everyone on the net to have top spec stuff!

Below is a thread where someone posted a way to manipulate your system clock with a .bat file. Hopefully this will solve all of our problems with the game timer. The code is 7 posts down from the top.
An alternate trick is to wait until you get the "11 minutes left" message and ALT/TAB out of the game, set the clock back 30 minutes or so and go back into the game. Just make a note of when you begin your game and never set the clock before that.
