Progress Reports and Accomplishments

Okay! The practice DEFINITELY paid off. Went to the arcade today and passed three new 9-footers! Including both my enemies, Can't Stop Fallin' in Love Speed Mix with a B and Saints Go Marching with a C. I also passed Stoic, with a C.

It felt awesome to finally get those songs out of the way. They've been giving my trouble forever! CSFiLSM I actually like a lot more now that I can beat it. Saints Go Marching is also a lot of fun, and I can do the crossovers nearly perfectly, but now its those gallops that are giving me a little trouble. And Stoic, wow, that was pretty tough.

Yep, had a nice day, DDR wise. :)

Today. Was. Tight.

I AA'd not 1, not 2, but 3 new 9fters. Which were CSFiL(speed mix), Matsuri Japan, and Orion.78 (not the civ mix).

I also AA'd Healing Vision.

i'm lovin' it. :)

yeah i still step on those stupid arrows... ...so what? >_>
Went to the arcade for the first time in about a week. Passed three new 9-footers. Ska a Go Go, Tears and Tsugaru Apple Mix, which was by far the easiest 9 I've ever played.
Easiest you've ever played? Sheesh. Try Be Lovin', or Irrestisiblement, or Paranoia KCET, or Drop Out Oni... all pieces of cake.

Shush. I suck and keep failing Irrestiblemente *despite* having it memorized. Same thing with V (for Extreme). It's annoying as all Hell.

Be Lovin' is really easy except from the end which always keeps me fron A'ing it. Irresistiblement is pretty easy but tricky, and KCET should definitely be an 8. Haven't tried Drop Out Oni though.

I still think Tsugaru Apple Mix is easier than all those, except *maybe* KCET. I almost AA'ed my first try and I've never done that with an other 9-footer.

Sorry, Maddie. ;)

I *finally* got an extended arcade session today, and had a few accomplishements. The best of which is: I passed Cartoon Heroes!! I got a D, but I passed it. I tried it on my first song - thanks, Kel. :)

I think I was premature when I said I had passed all the 9-footers, because I keep discovering more. But anyway, also today I passed V (Oni) for the first time, and finally played the new steps to Paranoia Eternal, which I (barely) passed.

A couple of smaller accomplishments: Got past the freeze on Max 300 again, and I full-comboed that crazy 16th-note run at the end of Ska a Go Go. And I came within one good of my first Doubles full-combo (Afronova light).

Awesome. Cartoon Heroes is HARD. I've only barely passed it once, and that was on x1.5.

Played for a good while at the arcade today. Passed 2 new 9-footers, Drop Out Oni and Dead End. Drop Out Oni was really easy except for the end and Dead End was also pretty easy. I can't believe I had trouble with it on Konamix. I also tried Bag on x3 and it was pretty fun, but I'm just not a fan of that song. It felt weird "dancing" to bag pipe music.

Something interesting I noticed today. I was playing on our MAX2 machine and saw that Burnin' the Floor was a 9-footer, so I played it and was shocked at how easy it was. Then, later when I was playing on the Extreme, I saw it was marked as a 7. Was it mismarked on MAX2? And isn't it an older song anyway? It's pretty strange to have a 7-footer mislabeled as a 9-footer.

I also noticed that the sticker on the side of the pad on our MAX2 machine said "Get on the Dance Stage" while the Extreme just said Dance Dance Revolution. So I'm thinking our MAX2 was originally a European Dancing Stage game before. Pretty weird.

I am proud to say that I never used speed modifiers on Cartoon Heroes. I use x1.5 on a few songs to make them easier when I'm playing for fun (Burning Heat, So Deep, Stoic, Waka Laka), but I've passed them all on x1.

I love Bag, the steps are so weird. I can't come close to passing it though, unless it's on x3.

Burnin' the Floor is indeed mislabeled in MAX2. It's a 7-footer in all other versions, including Konamix. There are some others, though, that I wonder if they're mislabeled... i.e. 8 feet for Witch Doctor.

Well , I passed my first standard song last week , Saints Go Marching.;)

(Newbie DDR player)

---------------
I love how this game attracts so much attention , even if you suck.;)

Saints Go Marching is an awesome song, I play it a lot now. Keep praticing so you can try it on Heavy, it's insane! :)

I use speed mods to pratice songs, of if I'm just plain tired. But I'll only count myself as passing a song if I passed it without mods. That's why I don't say I "really" passed Cartoon Heroes. I played it the other day without mods and tried for the first while, then just stopped and watched the arrows scroll up. My friends all love that song, and it's really fun on Standard, so that's what I usually play it on.

The other night I also tried Captain Jack, thinking it would be easier cause it's one of the older songs.. not the case. Definitely going to have to work at that one a little bit.

I know, I know..it's really nothing -- but I finally managed to pass Wonda (Speed K Mix) on Maniac.

(I also passed Cowgirl on Heavy which isn't remotely hard -- but I'd never tried.)

My weakness is eighth note sequences involving jumps. They are my death and burial on any song.

Ah, Wonda. I really miss 5th Mix, it's such an awesome mix. Too bad I wasn't a Heavy player back when I played on it.

Cowgirl is such a fun song, I still play it a lot even though I feel like a doofus everytime I do. :)

As for 8th note jumps, I think pretty much everyone has a problem with those. I've always had trouble with them, and I still struggle with them a little.

Cowgirl is definitely my fav. song, but I can never get the gallop sections right. I've done them before, but I can't consistantly make it through all three.

I just passed Irresistable for my fourth 9-footer, but I can't seem to pass destiny lover anymore.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Got bored and decied to play a little MAX at home. Beat two new 9-footers! The first was Electro Tuned, which seemed sort of easy, except for the beginning which threw me off a bit. I ended with like a 250 combo.

And then second.. and I'm very proud of this.. Rhythm and Police! That's one of the last 9-footers that's really been giving me trouble. Next up to pass: Exotic Ethnic. :)

Also tried Trip Machine Climax but didn't pass it, but I'm pretty sure I can pass it later on. Didn't really feel like doing all those 8th jump steps. Blah.

I love Cowgirl, but I don't play it when anyone's watching...

I also was playing the original MAX last night, and I had (what I think is) a pretty major accomplishment.... I AA'ed Era with 12 greats! I've never even come close to that with any difficult heavy song (i.e. not a 6-footer or below).

I was kicking perfect-attack butt last night in general. I also AA'ed Synchronized Love with 33 greats and got within one good of AAing two more 9-footers (Matsuri Japan and Broken My Heart).

Whoever it was that said Paranoia KCET was easy was dead on. I passed it on my first try. Yay.

--Madison

I told you. ;) I just don't understand how that piece of cake could be a 9-footer, while Paranoia Evolution is an 8-footer. Evolution is extremely difficult.

Evolution kicks my ass. I haven't even tried heavy yet, as standard is hard enough. It's not so much that I can't read it, it's that I don't have the stamina. I don't play everyday like you idiots do. ;)

I look at it this way: you can either go to some stinky gym and do boring, repetitve exercises for 30 minutes a day, or play DDR for 30 minutes a day and actually have some fun while you work out.

I've been "working out" in this way for 15 months now (as opposed to the previous 26 years of no physical activity at all), and I've never felt healthier. Increased stamina and lung capacity, better coordination, bigger calf muscles... all from a video game... who would have thought.
