Progress Reports and Accomplishments

I hear you. I've been telling my volleyball kids for the last year that playing DDR will increase your vertical. In fact, I swear Kara mentioned it helped hers.

I have an extreme machine five minutes walk outside of work -- so after eating lunch, when there's nothing else to do and it's raining and miserable, I exercise.

It's also a convenient way of getting quarters back for the bus ride back to the apartment.

I tried playing DDR at lunch once, but it doesn't work so well with business casual clothing. My dress shoes are slippery as heck, and I sweated through my dress shirt... gross. :) I'll stick with Beatmania and Ms. Pac Man/Galaga at lunchtime. :)

DDR is probably the only good excercise I get. I usually switch between DDR (good for the legs) and Dance Maniax (good for the arms) at the arcade.

Also stopped by the arcade real quick today, and of course, beat two new 9-footers. Dance Dance Revolution, which I actually liked quite a bit, and Frozen Ray, which wasn't nearly as easy as everyone said it was!

Did you know that Dance Dance Revolution (the song) is composed entirely of sections from classic DDR songs? I read a list of them somewhere once, but sections are taken from Dynamite Rave, End of the Century, etc.

I didn't know that. I recognized the beginning of the song from the 2nd Mix that I started out playing on. When no one was playing it would play a video and the song that played sounded a lot like Dance Dance Revolution.

Stopped by the arcade real quick again today. Passed Luv to Me Disco Mix, with a B. I liked it quite a bit, pretty fun song. Also got only one miss on My Summer Love, so close to my first AA on a 9-footer.

Just because you full-combo a song on Extreme doesn't mean you'll get an AA... you also have to have 93% perfects. I've full-comboed many heavy songs on Extreme, but only AA'ed Let's Groove, Cowgirl and Freckles.

AG, you're too close, but keep at it. My Summer Love was my first AA 9fter also :D

Yup, Den. That's pretty much it. A FC doesn't mean an AA, but on the other hand, you can still AA without a FC. Fortunately (or unfortunately...you choose ;) ) I've done it plenty of times. I remember when i've gotten agood, a miss AND a boo and still AA'd a 9fter.

I haven't posted here in a good week or so, so i have a lot to say. ^^;

1. I only have 4 or 5 more 9fters to beat with an A or better until i've A'd them all.

2. AA'd a pretty good handful of 9ers. (refer to sig)

3. Did a 10ft run a while ago, (with no rest in between songs) doing MAX300, Sakura, then LOM, but LOM won that battle.

4. A'd MAX300

5. Higher B on Paranoia Survivor (i got it back =D)

5. Tried Para Survivor MAX oni...failed halfway throuh it.

6. Tried another 10ft run with no rest, this time doing MaxX Unlimited, Para Survivor, and MAX300, but i was too tired and died at 300 before the freeze.

7.Got a C on MaxX Unlimited. (it's damn hard...what can i say?)

that's about it...i think...

oh! i took a fitness evaluation last week, testing my cardio somethin' and the guy had my do this thing where i step up and back down on this foot high block for 5 min. at 90 bpm. and was surprised when he recorded my heart rate had barely budged lol.

the beauty of DDR =D

yeah i still step on those stupid arrows... ...so what? >_>

I beat another 9' yesterday. Dance dance rev. It wasn't all that exciting. I'm at a point where I hate failing so I never venture out into new songs territory. I should try some new 9's but it seems like there's a LOT of variance in the difficulty within the 9' range. Maybe I'll try Paranoia KCET

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

There's a lot of variance in *all* the foot ratings. As far as 9's go, KCET definitely is on the bottom of the scale, along with Be Lovin', Irresistablement, Wonda (which I just played and beat today for the first time) and maybe My Summer Love. Then in the middle you've got average ones like Matsuri Japan, Tsugaru, Drop Out, maybe Dynamite Rave or Insertion. Finally on the hard end you've got Burning Heat, So Deep, Paranoia Eternal, Exotic Ethnic and Cartoon Heroes.

The 8-footers are like that too: compare B4U or Ecstacy to Witch Doctor or Waka Laka.

Para Eternal...man, if i ever get that song in a tourny or something, it will be the death of me. IMO It's the hardest 9 out there. Period.

Got a "B" on Silent Night 3rd Mix.

Not bad considering I've only been playing for over a month. :)

There are only 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who dont.
Silent Hill? ;)

I feel like an idiot playing that cheesy song, but those freezes and crossovers are so much fun.

Not much, but passed two new 9's today.

Trip Machine Survivor and Sakura Oni. I actually liked Sakura a lot, and am still trying to pass it on Heavy. I can do most of it just fine, but the part after the really slow arrow always kills me and the ending is tricky, too.

There is nothing good about Silent Hill.;)

Still trying to defeat the almighty Tsugaru....

---------------
Still on Standard level too!

Ah...Tsugaru. To me that song still remains as one of the most fun. What part are you having trouble on?

Progress Report:

I only have two more 9fters to A, then i'll have to work on AA all of them (HAH!). I A'd Dynamite Rave (oni), and DDR (oni), so i have Be Lovin', which i know i can do and Para Eternal, which i don't think i can A if my life depended on it, much less AA. :D

Got some good playing time at the arcade, passed a new 9-footer, Legend of Max standard. I also had an interesting experience with Nonstop:

I picked Random All nonstop on difficult and the first song up is.. Burning Heat. I've passed this song once at home and tried many times after but never passed it again. Well, I passed it and pretty good, I never even got in the danger zone. Then I finish out the set which ended with Afronova and I did surprisingly good on that too.

So I try nonstop again and I play through the first song and the second song is.. Burning Heat. Pass it AGAIN, doing awesome if I might say so myself. My bar was full most of the song, and it never dropped past halfway. I also had around a 230 combo at the end. Fantasy (the 9-footer) came up after Burning Heat, passed it, then I got Paranoia Eternal as my last song and got SO CLOSE to passing it. I got to the very end with the freeze arrows, which for some reason really confused me.

I tried Burning Heat again and passed with a B. That song may very well become one of my favorites now. :)

I recently got Konamix after playing DDRMAX1/2 at my friends house. I've beaten every song on Maniac with at least a B. My Favorites are Orion Ameuro Mix, Matsuri Japan, Absolute, Look to the Sky, and Dropout. I'm still missing 3 songs I haven't unlocked yet; I've beaten every song, so how do you unlock them?
Felix: I'm pretty sure with Konamix you just have to keep playing songs till you unlock another one. I have no idea how many songs you have to play to unlock songs, though.

Have some great news! Well at least I was excited anyway. Passed FOUR new 9-footers today. Leading Cyber and Gradiusic Cyber (both with B's) AND my two foes, which I have tried to pass countless times, Healing Vision Angelic Mix and Exotic Ethnic. I've honestly tried both of them at least 15 times without passing. I got a C on HVAM and a D on EE, so the grades aren't stellar but all I really care about at this point is actually PASSING them. :)

Those were the last 9's that REALLY gave me trouble, so now I'm pretty comfortable at playing and passing any 9 that might get thrown at me, with the exception of Cartoon Heroes.

Whoa! AG, is tearin' it up! Now you can keep track of your grades like i do. (:P) lol. Soon you'll be AAing a lot of 9s.

As for me, i've beaten Be lovin' easily with an A, but struggled with Paranoia Eternal. I finally got that A tho. :) So now i've beaten all the 9fters on DDR EX with an A or better. Now it's time to try and AA them.

I did beat Para KCET with a AA, but then again, that's a cake of a 9fter. *** Edited 1/1/2004 3:45:27 PM UTC by Kel***
