Progress Reports and Accomplishments

Seriously, you guys have an Ex? I saw a MAX 2 there for sale but that was it. I didn't realize you guys got an EX also (i gotta look more carefully ^^; ). What days are you usually there, whether working or just hanging out?

Accomplishments of the week: (i think i'll do this from now on, just do a weekly thing every Sunday)

AA'd:
- Synchonized Love
- this song that starts with Y (the only song like that on Ex) with 10 greats
- Saint Goes Marching: Remix

yeah i still step on those stupid arrows... ...so what? >_>
Yozara No Muko is the song you're thinking of. I read somewhere that it was originally a 9-footer when it debuted on MAX, but was knocked down to an 8 along with Witch Doctor for MAX2. Yozora No Muko I can understand, but Witch Doctor? It's insane!

Not much news for me, but I passed A Little Bit of Ecstacy Heavy on Sudden, Reverse in Nonstop. I could never do reverse, but it suddenly just clicked. No maybe I can actually pass Extra Stage on Extreme now!

Kel, I can explain the Max 2. It's an Ex machine, but our bosses are too *cheap* to put an Extreme header at the top of the game. If you look at the game screen, it will say DDREx. Anyhow. Tried Bag today on 1.5x, then 2x. I got further on 2x than 1.5x, so I might try that more often.

Side note on doubles. Tried Nonstop Pop 4 on difficult. Finally passed it. ^_^

Passed V Oni with a B! So the only 9-footer I have yet to pass is Cartoon Heroes, which whooped my booty pretty good the one time I tried it today :( . But I'm hanging in there, I know I can do it! Also got a B on Fantasy which I'm proud of because that song is pretty hard.
Good job on the Oni version of V AB. Nice work.

As for myself? I passed So Deep today. ^_^ First 2 times with a C, then the third time with a B. Played it on 1.5x, and that is now my second song of 3 in my normal routine on the game.

Congrats, you guys! Recently i've been working on trying to AA I feel...and Luv to Me or somethin' like that. They're just as hard as tears, so i just need to keep practicing, i'll get it. I'm also very close to AA Afronova, but it's just those jumps at the end...it seems like that's the only thing stopping me from a AA :( *** Edited 1/14/2004 4:00:34 PM UTC by Kel***

In a rare game of singles that I played today with my coworker Joey, I passed a song that I haven't played in a while, and have only once passed it before.

I passed Rhythm and Police with a B. Another song that I've never completed (Saints Go Marching), I passed for the first time with a B. REALLY weird after playing doubles.

I've heard somewhere that after playing doubles for a long time, that singles is cake. Which is why I started thinking about doing doubles, but maybe it's not as easy as I thought.

yeah i still step on those stupid arrows... ...so what? >_>
The problem with doubles is - it costs too much. And, it's almost impossible to practice at home, unless you have two metal pads.

I play it whenever I get a timed card at GameWorks, but I tend to play the same songs over and over. I wouldn't say I'm to the point where reading the doubles arrows is "automatic" yet. The weird jumps still confuse me.

Well I just got back from Tilt where Niko works. And i had a good time, despite the fact that the DDR pads didn't like me much :) Niko's pretty good at doubles. Very good infact. And since the machine has joint premium and only cost 50 cents to play. It's a very nice place to practice doubles.

Of course i found out that i need alot of that practice, since i suck at doubles.

And Niko, i know i said i'd pop up on AIM but i was tired driving home, so i think i'm gonna shower and sleep. Sorry about that. But i'll catch ya another time.

Oh and my accomplishments will be posted on Sunday. ;)

It was a great opportunity to meet you Kel, that's for sure.

It's funny when you hear about people doing this or that and making others feel envious, but when you see it happen in front of your eyes, it's a LOT worse. Kel is wicked cool at singles, and to be honest, I'd like to get to that level at one point. He thinks I'm good at doubles, lol.

With his help, I passed Fantasy with a C. Pretty hard song, I'll admit that completely.

ALMOST passed Bag today. 3/4 of the way done, I think, with the 2x speed modifier. Trying again soon.

Come around more often Kel. I'll work you into doubles shape, lol.

Count me in the doubles "impaired" group. I really want to play it more often because it's so much fun, but I downright stink at it. After I improve my skills a little more (gotta get those 10 footers!) then I'm definitely going to focus on doubles. And speaking of 10 footers..

Tried MAX300 for the first time today, whew! Got a little more than halfway through it, just past the freeze arrow. I knew 10's required a lot of stamina but I didn't quite realize how much. I felt like I had done 5 catas in a row, and I didn't even pass it! I think I'm capable of passing it, I just need the stamina. And by the way Kel, you're insane. Three 10's in a row? I'd DIE!

Also, my latest accomplishment, AA'ed my first 9-footer! It was one I wasn't expecting, Twilight Zone. I FINALLY figured out how to the ending, where you have to cross over amidst all those insane arrows, but it was actually really easy once I just did it. It wasn't long after that I AA'ed it.

Also upped my score on Rhythm and Police from a D to a B. Now that I can do the crossovers nearly perfectly, I've decided it's my new favorite 9-footer :).

I haven't been here in awhile, and I don't play that much anymore, but I think the only 10 footers I can't pass consistently are Paranoia Survivor Max and Legend of Max. I've done them before, just not on a regular basis. The weird thing is, when I do them I get B's on them, so like it's either a B or a fail, no in between heh.

It's funny to see how some of you who were on Light/Standard when I left are now doing catas hehe.

Kel and Niko, I'm really envious of you guys, living close enough to meet up. I just wish I knew someone who played DDR... my friends either don't play games at all, or they're only into first-person shooters and sports games... ugh.

Keep practicing, Niko. You'll get bag soon. :) I need tons of practice on doubles before i get to that point.

It's too bad you didn't live here in Cali, Den. DDR is part of the California culture.

Nice job, AG!! I remember when i got that far in MAX300, lol i couldn't be happier. ^^ And it's surprising that Twilight Zone was your first 9ft. AA. I AA'd that one for the first time not too long ago. And also, congrats on your crossover skills. R&P is MUCH more fun when you can cross to it successfully, IMO.

Well ladies and gentlemen! It's time fooooor, KEELLL'S WEEKLY UPDATE!! *cue Wheel of Fortune music*

ahem..well, anywayz, for the week i've:

AA'd Electro Tuned
Gotten about halfway through Holic (heavy, doubles) before Niko had to help me out ^^; aaaaaand...

Passed Paranoia Survivor MAX (heavy) with a C, leaving only PSMO to pass, before i can pass them all.

whew...almost there. :)

yeah i still step on those stupid arrows... ...so what? >_>
Tried Yozora No Muko on Sunday (Doubles, heavy). Almost fell flat on my ass more than once, lol.

Didn't pass it, but got a feel for the song, definitely. This song, and another (The first song on the K list) are hard to do because for me, I have to do a lot of blind crossovers from P1 to P2 back to P1. If it's not missing the pads completely, I'd be slipping on the other half, so I have to work on those barefooted.

Speaking of which, Kel, if you'd see me play doubles barefooted, you'd think I was crazy, hehe.

All together in the past few days, 8 new songs I've tried. Break Down, Yozora No Muko, Maxx Unlimited, Paranoia Survivor, Paranoia KCET (Right Kel?), End of the Century, Witch Doctor, and Xenon.

All I haven't passed, but got the feel for the speed and arrows.

Kel gotta set up another meeting soon. You missed out on a 9 token wait on Sunday dude. That and my friend Oliver was doing a freestyle routine with blue glowsticks, lol.

DDR or PIU, hmm. PIU definitely.
Whoa, sounds pretty crazy. I remember seeing a guy named Kai at AI play Healing Vision: Angelic Mix (heavy) barefoot. pretty insane. ^^;

I used a new PAing technique today because i get tired quickly and i think this new one pays off. I'm not as tired and I AA'd two new 9ers using it and got 50 or so greats on HV:AM but i'm not saying which two 'till Sunday =D

yeah i still step on those stupid arrows... ...so what? >_>
I play barefoot. On my metal pad at home. Hey, it still hurts like a mother if you step on the seams.

Anyone going to be in Central Ohio soon? Anyone? (crickets chirping) (tumbleweed rolls by) We can meet up and play DDR! (vultures begin circling) I'm cool!

My blog You said, "I'm gonna run you down." I heard, "I'm an orangutan."
Barefoot is the way to play, but I haven't done so in about a week. I play a song barefoot first usually, until I pass it, then I move onto shoes. It works, AND I usually don't slip or trip when I'm barefooted.

Nothing new, except I almost passed bag again. -_- I got to the end of the song and miseed the last 10 arrows, making me fail. -_- Pissed me off, lol. I was barefoot, too, so I'm going to try that again soon.

EDIT as of 01/22/04-

I passed Bag on heavy doubles with a C today, using the 3x speed modifier. First 10 foot song under my belt on doubles. ^_^

I also managed to pass Xenon on doubles heavy today, right after Bag, also with a C.

EDIT as of 01/24/04-

Still having trouble getting above a C on Bag. Will try other modifiers soon.

I passed Xenon with a B today on 1.5x.

Added another 8 foot song - Insertion - to my list of completed songs. It's actually a fun song.

Funny story that was a MAJOR boost to my ego. Played 3 songs - Let the Beat Hit 'Em, Sakura Oni, So Deep - in front of about 5 people. I AA'd Let the Beat, I A'd Sakura Oni, and B'd So Deep. Averaged an A for a score. After I was done, a guy came up to me and tried acting like my best friend, congratulating me, and stuff like that. I guess it's ironic humor, but still funny.

EDIT as of 01/24/04 Night

A'd Can't Stop Falling In Love (Speed Mix)
B'd Bag *** Edited 1/25/2004 7:06:26 AM UTC by Niko***
