I guess my best recent accomplishment would be AA'ing my second 9-footer, I Feel.. at the arcade a couple of days ago. I had no idea I'd comboed it until I finished playing it.
Also got A's on Rhythm and Police and Orion Civ Mix. Which brings up a question, I was looking at Orion's step chart and I noticed some weird arrow patterns. They begin at the bottom of the fifth column, the red and green ones. I just hit them like normal 8th's in the song (I never even noticed they weren't 8th's). So I guess my question is what are they? I don't think I've seen anything like that before, they look like some weird gallop hybrid or something.
Nice job on I feel...! Man, that's another 9fter. i can't AA and it's frustrating, because it seems pretty easy.
The steps on Orion Civ. are weird, they're 12th notes i think (just like Afronova's ending steps) but they're spaced out more. I'm coming close to AAing it, but i'm not there yet.
Other heavy songs that have triplets are Gentle Stress (Sexual Mix); Let the Beat Hit 'Em the last measure), Max 300 (before the two freezes); Luv to Me; Tsugaru (after the gallops); and, er... I can't think of any more.
Tommy P.
Stops also rule. Best ones: HVAM (of course), Telephone Operator and Stoic.
If I had to cite the best improvement in DDR from the first mixes to Extreme, it wouldn't be the frame rate, the freeze arrows or the mods... it'd be the creative stuff in the music like stops and speed changes.
I wonder what the first speed changes and stops were?? Anyone?
Passed a new song today. Well, not new. -_- I passed what I've seen called Kakumei (The first song on the K list) with a C.
When this guy that I know, Oliver, comes back next Sunday to Tilt, he's going to bring a pair of glow sticks for me. Going to tie them on my shoes and look REALLY cheesy. ^_^ Turning the lights off around DDR and PPD are fun, but when you have things like ropes or sticks, it makes it more interesting to watch, as per what happened on Sunday. Gotta take a picture of that sometime and post it.
Almost AA'd Holic today, as well. If I would have received less than 50 greats (my score was over 100), I would have easily got that AA. Tried Cartoon Heroes for the second time today. NOT easy whatsoever. -_- More later.
My favorite stop would have to be Tsugaru's. It's just awesome. Sweet Sweet Love Magic's stop is also pretty good and still gets me every once in a while.
My favorite tempo change would probably be Heaven is a '57 Metallic Grey. The first one gets me EVERY time. Burning the Floor Momo Mix's tempo change literally scared me the first time I played it and Sakura's are just nasty, but they're fun once you figure out where they are.
Cartoon Heroes - blah. It's the only 9'er I can't pass, and it bugs me. I remember when I first started playing 9's and I thought they were so hard, and they weren't any fun. Now, since I'm more comfortable with my skills, and I've gotten much better, 9's are fun, except Cartoon Heroes. It's just not a fun song to play. I figure I'll pass it once (hopefully..) and never play it on Heavy again. Good thing the Standard steps are a blast, though.
Other real DDR favorites are: :)
Heaven is a 57'...
Sakura
The Legend of MAX
Paranoia Survivor/MAX
and others that i don't have time to name right now. ^^;
I also AA'ed Matsuri Japan, and got 2 good on Justify My Love, the rest were greats and perfects, which I was proud of because that song has those two sections that are really hard. Also got an A on Witch Doctor heavy.
Know what? Screw the Weekly Update! I'm too impatient. ;)
Yesterday I AA'd Burning Heat, Dynamite Rave, and Broken My Heart! Wooshka! *doesn't know where that came from*
I've been in sort of a slump lately, but i think i'm back on top of my game. :)
Next goal is So Deep, which i know i can do. I tried it yesterday and got 50 or so greats, which would've gotten me the AA if it had not been for a few boos, a good and a miss. I'll keep trying tho.
EDIT: Witch Dr. Is pretty tricky as well. *** Edited 1/29/2004 3:57:18 PM UTC by Kel***
2 Easier 6 & 7 footers with an 8 footer inbetween.
Let the Beat Hit Em (AA), So Deep (B), and My Summer Love (AA). If I would have recieved an A on So Deep, I think I would have recieved an A for the overall.
Trying a lot more Afronova songs. Fun song no doubt, bt not easy whatsoever.
Last but not least I improved on Kakumei from a C to a B.
Another thing - Saints Go Marching - NOT easy when doing crossovers. -_-
The 50 year old lady is back on the DDR pads again. I'm finding even after taking some time off, I'm still able to get A's and AA's on most everything on light (yeah, yeah, big deal...wait until YOU are 50 years old!). Afronova is one that I have to work on. I passed it the first time, but GEEZ.
I'm pleased to see some oldies on DDRMAX2, i.e. Long train running (originally by the Doobies).
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
Some other oldies are on MAX2/EXTREME also. E.G. It's Raining Menand Let's Groove. Then there are some OOOLDIES like We Are The Champions, and We Will Rock You. lol
My accomplishment for the day: AA'd So Deep. ;)
Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."
I wonder if DDR will still be around when I'm 50. At first I think, not a chance, but then again, they're still making Pac-Man and Frogger for the newest systems. So who knows.
I *think* that I'm going to be able to hit up GameWorks tomorrow morning (crosses fingers). Even so, probably won't have any accomplishements to report... I'll probably just play all my favorites. Though I plan to try Max 300 a few more times... wish me luck!
Anyway, new accomplishment for me:
AA'd Sweet Sweet <3 Magic or something like that. Also i almost beat Exotic Ethnic as an Extra stage. I was at the last two freezes. >_<
Oh well. Here are my other (minor) accomplishments today:
-Got the Extra Stage again (AA on Freckles) but failed Spin the Disc... reverse still kills me.
-Got a B on Sweet Sweet <3 Magic, first time I'd tried it.
-Came one "good" away from full-comboing Stoic... that stupid step after the stop got me.
Er, that's it. No, no applause. Thank you.
I really, really like Sweet Sweet <3 Magic. I think it's a fun song. It's one of the 9-footers I can consistently do good at it. It's probably going to be the next one I try to AA. Although it seems like the only time I AA songs is when I'm not trying to.
My mini-accomplishment would be full-comboing Witch Doctor heavy, but I had like 115 greats so no AA for me.
Tried a new song as of late - Highs Off U. I like the beat, I like the steps. Hard song? Definitely. It should be a 9, I think. If I'm not mistaken, it's only an 8.
Something on Para Para for a moment. The songs that are on Ex and Para Para are fun to play. Don't know why, but the version of a song on DDR is better than it's counterpart on PP. Eh well. -_-
Highs Off U is a great song... one of the first DDR songs I ever played. It's actually a 7-footer, I think, but should be an 8, at least. It's so slow, it's hard to see those 16th-note runs.
Fun fact: Highs Off U has the f-word in it! I think it's the only real swear word in DDR...
Fun fact: Highs Off
