Popular coasters that you just didn't "get"

That's how I feel about Alpengeist too. I love the enormous elements and think that makes for a much more interesting ride. But then the midcourse brake just kills the ending. If those final turns were taken at a great speed, it would be really exciting, but there are no forces at the end (after the incredible intensity of the first half of the ride). If they could couple the first half of the ride with Batman's second half, it would be fantastic.

After going back and reading the first post, I think if Gonch had ridden Nitro on Labor Day with me and Matt, he might have 'gotten' it. I liked Nitro on my first rides last summer, but on Labor Day, it was a totally different beast. The airtime was incredible. Even AVMatt was praising it.

And I still don't get Apollo's Chariot. Plan on going back to that park in the spring, maybe then I will.

Like I said (somewhere in the recent pages) I have since "gotten" Nitro and haven't made a single Nyquil crack since.

I never got AC either...until our visit to BGW this past June where it was running like crazy in a light, steady rain.

Oddly enough, I "got" Nitro while riding during some decent rain.

Maybe I just like rain?

I missed your Nitro comment. I don't know if I just expected to be blown away by AC and wasn't, or what. I hope that I like it better on my next visit.

It's a fun ride. It just doesn't wow me the way Intimidator, Goliath, and Nitro did. Light years ahead of the other '99 B&M hyper, though.

Out of the 5 B&M hypers I've been on, I'd rank them as 1) Intimidator, 2) Goliath, 3) Nitro, 4) Apollo's Chariot, and 22) Raging Bull.

Nitro was a top ten steel coaster on Labor Day. If only it was always that good.

I love Apollo. The first time I rode it, I was sitting next to Clint and I thought it was fantastic, but obviously the airtime on his seat was broken. lol I rank it above all of the North America B&M hypers except Goliath over Georgia (and I haven't ridden Little Intimidator yet). Nitro was better on Labor Day, but I find Apollo to be better more consistently. Goliath rules them all, but once in a while Nitro and Apollo give it a run for its money.
