PKI major announcement soon.

Well let's remember, Krax that they are dropping the paramount prefix from the park names this season so I don't see a paramount theme being used for this ride at all.
Their going to leave it green and leave it X-flght. why change it.

^"why change it"?

Well, it really doesn't sound too good to say "hey, here's the coaster we just got from up the road a piece." You want to market it as a new attraction. The reason I said "only in Ohio" would I bother...the cities/geography of the state means people in quite a few areas MIGHT be visiting more than one of your CF properties. Put that together with the fact that Ohioans DO visit parks more than most, and you've got a real possibility that people - I mean regular people, not us freaks ;) would notice that it's the used coaster they pulled out of GL.

Not a BIG deal, but, honestly, it's not a huge amount of money, now that the ride is DOWN anyway, to paint it before erection begins....

Yeah. I thought about that too, but I figured as long as Cedar Fair operates the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas, they will still be able to retain references to BORGS and what not. ;)

I'm sure you guys have covered this but I've been "away" from the board for awhile--X Flight is being installed next to FACE/OFF from what my sources tell me. Another front of park, almost in the parking lot installation.

^ I thought we had "agreed" that it would go back on the cleared land next to FoF...

Of course, the PARK has the final say.. :)

I cannot see it being installed near Face/Off. It's pretty obvious that there's significant clearing and ground-levelling going on next to FOF.

Does seem odd to place it there (FOF area)... sort of out of the way and off the midway. It would make sense to me if the clearing were on the OTHER side of FOF. In other words if they were squeezing it into the triangular dead space in between the Racer, Adv Express and FOF Drum.

None-the-less, there's so many other spots they could have shoehorned it in at. Rivertown has been crying out for a coaster for years now. Seems to me that over the pond or in the train station area would have been a better "esthetic" choice. IMO

Here's a link to the Dec PKICentral shot from the sky. There's obvious clearing next to FOF, and absolutely nothing going on in Action Zone.

Oh lord. I can see a "is it a new credit" argument starting soon. ;)

Oops.....:)

^ Once they add the launch feature, I can't imagine it NOT being a new credit...

Uh-oh, I wasn't supposed to TELL about that...yikes! ;)

Not that I have any reason to belive Barry but, there appears to be enogh room by Face Off. And, many people have said they thought 10Mil for a relocated ride was a lot. Maybe there'll be 2 new attractions. Or, the site clearing next to FOF could be for an 08 attraction. If Maverick has shown us anything, it's that there is no reason they can't start a project more than a year in advance.

I actualy belive it's going next to FOF, but I just thought I'd throw those few ideas in there. :)

Looks like they changed it...
They probably want to keep the mystery going a bit longer. *note sarcasm*

Are X-Flight & Son of Beast REALLY going to take ALL $10,000,000? I'm really hoping not.............
Seeing as that it cost $15,000,000 to build in 2001, and the extent of the damage on SOB, I'd have to say yes.
Yeah it cost $15 million brand new in 2001. There is no way it's worth any where near that value today. (Although not a steel, brand new Renegade is what $7mil?) Damage on SOB sure, that's not going to be cheap however I just don't see the combined cost of both projects to even come close to reaching $10 million.

I did think it was interesting that the article said there would be a new coaster... maybe you guys are right in guessing they just mean it's new to KI. I just kind of thought that was a bold statement for them to release. Taking the cost of SOB and Xflight into account, I don't see there being much left to build another coaster with. A cheap kiddy maybe, but after that huge Nick revamp, I don't think that's too likely either.
