PKI 2005 announcement set... enthusiasts invited!

IMO, CP and PKI compliment each other. Whatever bases that one does not cover, the other does.

PKI and CP offer the Ohio region two different, yet fully encompassing experiences.

As far as PR Departments, indeed PKI does go above and beyond. However, I think that Paramount Parks as a whole allows more opportunities and a larger budget for their PR teams to offer such incentives.

Cedar Point also has a stellar marketing and PR team, and has been a huge supporter of the enthusiasts community for dozens of years. The difference is, I think that CP's hands are tied a little more in the budget department.

Yet, they still are very generous to us.

There exists a very friendly rivalry between PKI and CP, however none of it is malicious or ill-mannered as some enthusiasts woudl like to think. In the end, enthusiasts benefit from the playful rivalry... especially at fun events like No-Coaster and East-Coaster, where each park goes out of their way to out-do with their presentations.

Did the Italian Job do that well? Is it that big of a franchise? Does it carry as much name recognition? In my mind, no. Not as much as Adam's family.

If the ride-theming decisions were based on film grosses, Tomb Raider woulda been Forrest Gump's Big Baaawx a Chawwwwklits.

The Italian Job did manage to draw $100 million domestically. Hardly earthshaking, but not bad either.

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

I think Tomb Raider fits because:

A: It still is "an outdoor" theme. That may be pushing it, but it isn't as bad as a foreign/car/spy/money movie.

B: The building is on the perimeter of the park. The "proposed" location of the antique cars would be one of the first main attractions at PKI that you could walk all around. That is why I don't see them slapping a building there.

I see them doing something where some of the ride is inside building(s) and some is outside kind of like Test Track, but it could be more back and forth. I would imagine the entire Antique cars area would be removed and the ride will take up most of that area... And if it does, being a centerpiece ride of the park that will draw a lot of guests to that area of the park, I hope the ride/theme will be really popular, high capacity, and extreme reridable for guests. I hope it's something that will make people want to exit, jump up in the air, and head back to ride it again. ;)

Now Danny's post is the smartest I have read in regards to this in quite sometime...

But of course it's all speculation until the PKI tells us what's up!

I was just wondering if anybody else seriously thinks a Giga could be in the cards for PKI?

Hmmm, you think they would?

JC, wonders too

OMG I have a new sig!!!
I wish I knew someone that knew for sure what it was. I would buy them an ice cream cone.
I would throw in the sprinkles.
But I don't like sprinkles. Trying to keep my figure, you know! ;)

You didn't seem to mind the whipped cream... ;)

Borg Ass seems to be a hit, While I don't think the new ride will be a flying dutchman, Some other type of ride themed that way is a huge possiblity.

I think Gemini Dog has the right idea, and with the above clues Chuck has tossed out, it does sound like it will be a MI:TR themed ride. And for those that don't remember, rumors back in 1999 were that PGA's Stealth was originally supposed to be themed to Mission Impossible, but according to those same rumors, the rights to theme to MI were more than Parmount was willing to pay, so we ended up with the stripped down unthemed Stealth.

Course we all know Paramount would never buy another flying dutchman, so my final guess would be a MI:TR themed B&M Flyer? Do I get the ice cream cone?

A giga for PKI? I don't think PKI should get one, I'm still waiting for a B&M.

Who says B&M wouldn't do a giga (or that a hyper isn't in store *from* B&M anyways) for PKI? B^)

+Danny, knows nothing... really ;)

Is B&M doing gigas? I thought they said they won't do anything above 300, which I could suppose PKI could get a 300, but I'm not sure if B&M will do that.
Let's just assume that PKI is getting a hyper/giga. Where would they stick the station and where would it run to?
Assuming PKI is getting a hyper or giga, I don't think we'll find it until at least 2007 and it would probably end up lining the outside of Coney Mall. If a hyper or giga ends up as the 2005 attraction (which I doubt), I see PKI keeping the operating side of the antique cars and putting the station on the side not used with the rest of the likely themed queue and the coaster would run... somewhere. =p

I see both sides of the antique cars gone and a single track built elsewhere. While the ride is popular, It is a complimentary ride whose marketablility is 0.

This attraction I believe will take up most of the area between the clock and vortes minus the lake.

Chuck, who knows nothing either but thinks it will surprise many, Maybe even me :)

I will be happy with anything other than a mouse, unless it's a cool spinny mouse.
There Giga or Hyper or Dive Machine designed by B&M will come in 2006 and will be placed by FoF, Racer, and Adventure Express. But for 2005 it will be a smaller coaster and themed to 'The Italian Job'. *** Edited 8/4/2004 7:28:12 PM UTC by Dave72***
Could that be the soon to be relocated dive machine from alton towers?? I hear its gonna be on the market real soon............

There are no bad coasters, only better coasters!!
