PKI 2005 announcement set... enthusiasts invited!

When people start doubting RideMan and Shaggy, the end of the world is near.

". . . don't you know baby that life is a scream!" - Gordon Gano

Oh man I really hope it is a big, smooth steel coaster. I have felt that that's what the park has needed for a long time. I'm going to be at CP Tues. and Wed. that week, but I'm tempted to drive to PKI Thurs. morning. Maybe if I win enough money off of my buddies from poker, I might consider it. Wow I'm excited to hear what it is! Don't let me down PKI!
Wheres the King of the Hill Trailer Park at?

Little birdie say's "Think The Italian Job" themed.

Possible wild mouse of some sort with cars looking like 'Mini Coopers'.

Well, someone who works at the park and has a firstname.lastname@paramountparks.com e-mail address mention to me that the new ride will be themed to the "Italian Job" movie and that some ride (im thinking it was called the eagle) will be placed where the sky lab was. Im not to familar w/ the park being that I have never been there. But the person who told me isnt a coaster junkie and knew nothing about the survey. As far as what type of ride its suppose to be I have no idea but thats all that was mention to me............

Oh yeah there was also a mention about the car ride leaving the park. *** Edited 8/2/2004 11:54:04 PM UTC by coasterbruh***

There are no bad coasters, only better coasters!!

That would be weird if someone from Paramount Parks told you that... But the Flying Eagles rumor I've heard places them where the EuroBungee/Flight Commander used to be. We'll all know on Thursday and hopefully all the current rides at the park will still be operating in some form next season. :)

It was an unofficial conversation you know the kind that goes on here ;-}. "They" didnt go into specifics about anything else because thats the word going around the office and they decided to pass it to me. They know what they can and cant say (I have been told lots more) but it was cool that I mention that.............but remember its just idle gossip.

Okay okay! I'll go ahead and spill the beans now.

My sources who know a certain manufacturer's uncle's caterer told me PKI plans to retheme the flyers as GRAVY: THE RIDE.

Not only will each tub be painted as a shiny, stainless steel gravy boat, the steering wings will be decorated as succulent cuts of meat. Initial plans called for porterhouse, T-bone and sirloin decals....but work with focus groups indicated Steak-umm slices, Banquet chicken thighs and processed pork 'Ribettes' were a little more realistic for the clientele.

In-park spending is expected to jump about 700%.

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

hope its that big steel coaster ive been waiting for forever...... ahahahaha.
Man, I REALLY love Revenge of the Mummy and Premier Rides. Also, has anyone ever seen "The Italian Job"...neat movie. Hahahahahahahahahah!
While I like the Italian job, I think the Adam's Family thrill attraction would fit in MUCH better and have a MUCH better long term effect. Not to mention name recognition also. But again that's just my opinion.

As for where either one of these rides would go. I'd be willing to bet where the antique cars are...the ones PKI doesn't use anymore...and Adam's family theme would fit in nicely in all the thick trees there.

But there is also MANY places PKI can fit in rides still.

PS- everyone make sure to stop at the Ohio State Fair, it's definetly not a fair to pass up. :)

I don't know if this is what it is, but I've thought for a long time that PKI would be an ideal place to see the next Intamin Giga, that would be higher than MF. This would be an excellent move on PKI's part, as they will finally be getting back into the same league as CP with a move like that. Plus, they really need a ride like that anyway, at least a Hyper of some sort.

However, if it's going to be themed, then I would kinda' doubt it's one of the above. You never know though. Either way, I'm excited to hear this news, and look forward to the announcement! If only it was a week later, I could have actually maybe gone. Oh well. I'm sure there'll be a good representation of enthusiasts there.

Yes, it would be a great way to get into the same groove that CP is in, but the PR/Marketing folks have been making it clear at Beastbuzz for the past two years that they are striving to become "the Universal of the Midwest."

Creating a truely themed movie park would *not* involve white concrete and giant coasters.

While I do think it is a coaster and I do think its a bigger steel coaster (Not a mouse) PKI has made it clear they are not in direct competition in the coaster wars.

Why should the be when adding Delirium, Scooby and other moves have kept them the same or ahead of CP in terms of attendance?

Your Mission is to figure it out.

Exactly Michael.

And why should PKI be in CP's league when they are pulling in the same attendance figures?

They are doing just fine in their own league.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

PKI is turning itself into a THEME park. It has been an amusement park with some theme kicking around for quite some years now. It's time to finish the conversion.

If they can try something new while continuing to kick ass... I say let them. Not everyone who heads to parks craves, needs, and drools over record breaking coasters.

There are some enthusiasts who do crave, need, and drool over huge rides. The park addresses them as a very specific term when it comes to attendance: insignifigant.

The fact that all of us around here and the park know that the enthusiast population makes up such an insignifigant percentage of the population yet the park still does everything possible to keep us enthused says something amazing about the place. Keeping your enthusiasts enthused sells a few extra season passes come October. Nothing really signifigant, but every little bit helps.

I wouldn't go as far to say it's becoming a "Theme" park but it's an amazing amusement park putting in excellent "Themed" rides.

If PKI is turning into a theme park now, why don't they bring back the theming on rides like Top Gun and Flight of Fear that was either removed or reduced. Their theming is top-notch when they release a new ride, but they tend to forget about the upkeep shortly thereafter in my opinion.

Perhaps it has changed recently. I'll admit I haven't been to the park in a long time.

I'm not a PKI genius by any means and I really mean no harm when I ask this so here goes: How much theming has been removed from Top Gun? and Flight of Fear for that matter? The first year I went to PKI (in 2000) I really didn't pay a lot of attention to FOF and didn't notice the any theming but for some reason I took notice the year they redid the OTSR's on it. As for Top Gun, I honestly didn't realize there could be any theming to this ride other than what's already there. I'm sure there were more elements to both rides and I'd love to hear about them so anyone with any little tidbits could chime in here and enlighten some of us that are not so wise. :)

This ain't no book you can close, when the big light hits your eyes. Cropduster-Riot Act-Pearl Jam
On Flight of Fear, they simply removed all references to "The Outer Limits" and took out the, "There is nothing wrong with your equipment...we control the horizontal, and the vertical" segment from the ride pre-show video. While they were at it, they also replaced the shoulder bars with lap bars. And Joey, how could you have possibly missed that gigantic flying saucer? :)

Top Gun used to have "steam" coming up from the trench below the trains in the station, and the queue used to go through the "aircraft carrier" below the "flight deck". I think all that stuff is still there, but they now route the queue around it instead of through it. Honestly, you aren't missing much.

The key question in all of this reamins: How many seats are 'reserved' for the enthusiast community. For example it its 500, then I'd say that they can acomodate all those likely to attend, if its 100, well then you may want to arrive at the park early. (Remember we are talking about a work day here)

The next question is one of protocol, i.e. what is the expected dress code at such an event?
