Pence criticizes DeSantis over Disney interference

Wow. I have a completely different take. The Conway/Korman dentist skit was one of the funniest things I have ever watched...and Korman breaking character made it even funnier in my opinion. I still laugh hard every time I see it.

It takes a couple minutes to get going, but that dentist skit was hilarious! Being absolutely petrified of needles I both laughed and screamed out loud at the same time with that first needle gag.

I have watched a few Carol Burnett skits here and there after seeing her guest star on the final season of Better Call Saul, and everything I've seen has been hysterical.

My grandma and I used to watch the Carol Burnett show together all the time. Words cannot express how much I loved Tim Conway on this show. Great memories. :) So much humor is time-sensitive, but something like this is timeless.

For the uninitiated:

Tommytheduck, love ya man, but I can’t believe your introduction to Carol Burnett was Better Call Saul. 6 Emmys and 23 nominations later… Maybe musical comedy variety series weren’t your thing, huh?
But it points to her versatility. I’m a Law&Order SVU fan and possibly my favorite episode ever was the one with Carol and Matthew Lillard guest starring in “Ballerina”. She received an Emmy nomination for that serious, murderous turn and deserved to win.
As for Tim Conway, he was certainly one of Cleveland’s favorite sons and along with the rest of the cast was a comedy genius. If anyone was ever going to cause a full cast to break up it was him. Well, everyone but Vicky Lawrence who came up with one of the funniest adlibs in TV history. After Tim upstaged everyone with his lengthy elephant story during a Mama sketch, all Vicky had to say was “You sure that little asshole’s through?” She killed everyone.

To be fair, Better Call Saul is the most notable appearance of Burnett's in many years. I mean, her SVU appearance was 14 years ago.

Yeah, I get that. Carol and Friends show up in infomercials most often these days, lol. And USA SVU reruns. She’s 90 this year- her first Emmy was 1962. It’ll be a sad day when she passes, not unlike losing Betty White.

But hey, that DeSantis sure is something, isn’t he?

I can't believe SVU is still on. By "on", I mean that 1) it's still airing new episodes, and 2) it's on our TV nearly every friggin' day (reruns). My wife likes it as background noise, mostly. I go into convulsions whenever I hear the opening credit theme.

I’ve come to believe that you can find some version of L&O on tv anytime of day or night, 365 days a year.
I keep it on for company, and sometimes Jim will come home and say “Jeez, haven’t you seen that one a a million times by now?”

But I’ve learned a lot over the years. Like don’t send your kids to Hudson U.

I never watch the show, yet I've seen multiple episodes often more than twice each. I would bet there isn't a single character in fictional entertainment history that's encountered as many terrible situations in their life as Olivia Benson.

And manages to come out looking just as gorgeous after each and every one of them.

Social Security is a popular program despite what a few Republicans say. Even if they did manage to pass legislation to end it, they’ll keep it alive for those of us who have paid into it already because the bill would never pass if they did. I’m cynical about a lot of things but not this.

No one is suggesting it be ended. They want to raise the retirement age as it has not kept up with the increase in life expectancy. They also need to stop giving benefits to every Tom, Dick and Harry that comes into the country. That’s not what it was designed for. It was designed for retired people and it needs to go back to doing that and that alone.

Neither a frequent flyer or a sock puppet. Been off the forum for about 10 years though. Retired so I have time to go ride coasters again. Amused by some of the threads I’ve read, but this thread was too easy to pass up. The lack of understanding of what is wrong with SS is absurd.

Yeah, but the thing is, there is an actual definition. Merriam-Webster defines “woke” as
: aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice.)
And I for the life of me can’t figure out what could be wrong with that.
