The most underated wood coaster I have been on is Cornball Express, yes I know it is ranked #17, but it kicks Shivering Timbers rump in every area, airtime, lateral g's and positive g's, not to mention those last two bunny hops in the back seat are the most violent and intense moments of airitme I have experienced.
Another underated woodie is The Villain, I can see how this is only though of as ok, because in any seat besides the VERY front it is a tad rough, but it is as smooth as any of the woodies with PTC trains, not to mention the second drop is some of the best long lasting airtime out there, and the turning bunny hopes are insanely cool.
Now on to steel: Magnum is good, and since it is a classic it should be on the list, but not number 3, it is just to rough for the #3 spot.
Wildfire @ SDC is with out a doubt the single best multi looping coaster I have ever been on, the loops are taken at high speeds, giving great positive g's and at the top hangtime, it is sily smooth with the usual steel vibration that I don't notice, and that first drop in the back is great, a pop of air then floating all the way down.
What are some of the most underated or overated in your opinions?
P.S.
I predict some high placing for Ozark Wildcat, it has 8 pops of airtime in the front seat and the lateral g's are good, as well as the positve g's.

I-4: The scariest ride in all of Orlando!
Underrated: Thunderbolt (KW), Giant Dipper (SCBB), Wicked Twister
Not much to comment about here except maybe I caught Thunderbolt on a good day (no trims and after some heavy rain.)

But, I can see the opposite point of view too...
Overrated - Goliath, Batman: the Ride, Villain - (When I go to WoA, Villain takes it upon itself to give crappy rides the entire day... Just because I'm there...)
Underrated - Wicked Twister, Great Bear (and Lightning Racer, for that matter), Xcelerator
Xcelerator underrated? I believe it to the extent that no one really talks about it after X debuted... I think that X is a fun ride and all, but I am convinced that Xcelerator is my favorite coaster in SoCal (and I've done them all, or at least all that were operating by March 1st.)
With Goliath, I think my distaste comes from the fact that I do enjoy a negative g force (at least, < 1) once in a while, and I don't know why it should be too much to expect any hyper to provide this. Goliath, for whatever reason, does not.
...and I know that a lot of people here love Batman: the Ride, so it must be the fact that I'm desensitized or something. Fact is, about a year or so ago, I rode Raptor on a Sunday, and B:tR the following Tuesday. I think it was that point when I started to feel a bit more lukewarm to the latter.
For the two Hershey coasters... No one talks about Hershey enough! Great Bear is over quickly, but it is really inventive during the short ride with the support structures and, of course, that weird drop action.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My motto: Just ride it. If you like it, ride it again. If you don't, move on.

What do I think is underrated? The Sceechin Eagle at LeSourdsville Lake, as well as my fave woody....the Lightning Racer at Hershey! Oh yes, and the Cornball Express is very underrated.

Because I know Ill need an explanation-Ive heard about Phenoixs great double dip and how this coaster is an airtime machine, well frankly I didnt find it as such I think that Shivering Timbers, Yankee Cannonball, Viper (SFGAm) and others have more airtime.
With Hulk my problem is that after the launch there is no positive gs, I need more. Titan is a hypercoaster and therefore should have loads of airtime, it doesnt and suffers for it.
Underrated-Viper (SFGAm), Alpengeist, The Beast, Yankee Cannonball, Magnum
Viper just gets better and better and in my opinion has one of the greatest ends of woodies from the double dip on through, breathtaking.
Speaking of endings, I think that the Beast's 270 degree helix could be a coaster in itself, and combined with the first half it makes it the best wooden coaster I have ever written, period.
Alpengeist in the front is a pure joy the tripple attack of the diving loop/vert loop/cobra roll leaves you breathless my favorite steel ride.
Magnum gives me the most air of any steel, and seeing that I tend to be a airtime freak I love the thing (#2) the only thing it suffers is that as in all out and backs there is no suprizes but still this coaster is better then big blue on the other side of the lake.
Yankee Cannonball was my first coaster so i might be a little sentimental, but it delivers everything I was told that the Phenoix was suposed to, air, air and more air, in the backseat you spend more time out of your seat then in on this ride it is just way too cool.

Thunderbolt(kw),with trims on
Beast,trims kill this one also
Underated...
Thunderbolt, trims off(took many a ride with the trims off when I worked there,(totally different)
Villain(sfwoa)
Legend,my no.1 coaster
Wildcat(Idora Park, defunct)THE MOST brutal coaster I ever was on!
I'm not sure if it is underrated, but Rattler at SFFT is one of the best woodies I've been on. Also, Beast is overrated, especially now that its son is here.
The Boss was just a little rough for me, even for a woodie. Superman: Ultimate Flight is a good ride but after the pretz. it's a little slow.
Underrated: Scooby Doo's Ghoster Coaster, Flying Super Saturator.
Ghoster Coaster caught me totally off guard. Being a small coaster I didn't expect much but it has some kicking air in the back seat. Flying Super Saturator is just plain fun.
