Well, ok then. I was wondering how many of you (that are of age of course) enjoy having a beer or two when you go to a theme park? I never did, but the last time i went to SFNE, i went with friends who weren't all that into the rides and wanted to chill out and have a drink every now and again. It was pretty fun - a nice break. But, i don't think i'd go to the park expecting to drink.
On a similar thought, what do you think the park attendants should do about extremely drunk people who try to get on rides? I've seen people get on rides drunk and ralph all over the place, causing the typical half-hour shutdown.
Just some thoughts.
As if ralphing on rides isn't bad enough...imagine walking into the station and seeing a drunk guy releaving himself in the back corner on the wall. This was the scene for me when I entered the B&M station at the park that's "so big! so close!" to Cleveland.
You should have seen the ride-op's face when we attempted to answer her question as to if someone had "gotten sick" in the corner :o)

I only drink at my home park, because more often than not I'm in no rush to ride everything, and I can't go there without running into friends. I don't do it often, and do it to a point of intoxication even less. It costs about $25 for me to tie one on there.
And that beer pricing in a way helps control the consumption. Only the well-to-do people can get drunk. ;)

I've never consumed alcohol while at any park (unless you count the hotel room after closing at CP). I know it just wouldn't mix one bit for me. I'm not exactly much of a drinker anyway.
I'm not sure park employees can do much about drunk guests. Drunk guests annoy me more than just about any other type of disturbance at parks and I often wonder if selling alcohol at parks isn't just asking for trouble. Sure most guests will be responsible, know their limits and act accordingly but watching idiots stumble around the park and being loud just gets old fast.
Did I mention I'm not much of a drinker myself?

Mark, I actually remember when they "test-marketed" Killian's here in G-ville, when I was a student at UF....(yes, I do remember that far back, LOL). Of course, I wasn't old enough to drink then, and you know how strict they were about the drinking age back in the early 80s....;)....yes, Killian's IS (and WAS) a tasty beer.....
oh, and there IS a formula for dehydration....1 beer + 2 waters = no dehydration + many trips to the men's (or ladies') room....

I don't drink at all, ever. Well, maybe once or twice a *year* I'll have champagne or wine at a wedding or restaurant, but never have I drank at an amusement park. I've never even been drunk.
Guess I've just seen too many drunk people doing too many repulsive, stupid, dangerous, careless, reprehensible things.

Well, Kennywood doesn't serve beer.
I'll SOMETIMES have *A* beer at a park, under the right circumstances. I'm pretty snobby when it comes to beer, though -- give me a good strong dark beer, not that watered-down junk available most of the time.

I don't drink much when I go to parks.
1. It's expensive
2. I don't really think it has a place intended for families (look out for that drunk uncle thats a pain at family get togethers)
The only times I drank art parks was.
When we went to Dorney and had one with our dinner.
When we went to Conneaut Lake We had a few at the place on the beach. Then after the park closed we went to another bar down the road.
At Coney Island we went and saw Sideshow at the Seashore and began talking to the owner. For every beer we bought he gave us one. After about an hour and a half we staggered away and rode the Zipper, Wonder Wheel, the kiddie coasters and a lap or two on the Cyclone and had some kinnish. By that time our buzz was fading and we went home.

Beer on a hot day in a park is only begging for dehydration. Although so is soda. I stick to the water, especially if I'm planning on staying all day.I've dealt with Intoxicated people at a park, it wasn't fun. 1 may be fine, but if you're planning on getting drunk stay home, sit around the barbecue, and mess up your own place.
While I like beer, and have been known to "tie one on" more often than is probably good for me, I usually don't feel like drinking at an amusement park. Sure, I'll have a few once we get to the hotel/camp, but not at the park. I did, however, have a beer at SFWoA to help ease the pain of dealing with my teen-aged cousins, but that was an out-of-the-ordinary circumstance.
Now, if I could get some Jack Daniels at a park, it'd be all over.
