Even though i upgraded, the game is still slow and drags from the beginning.
Not only all the the performance issues well stated in the posts above, the poorly designed game is not as user friendly as 2.
You would think that since 2 had such a huge following, the would have made the basic design similar to that game so the users could maneouver around it the same.
The scenery menu is just pitiful for example. Instead of having a large menu of items you can just click on and use, it is a list, which has to be expanded, which creates yet another window you have to close out when you are done with the one piece of scenery. And like mentioned above, the control function doesnt exist anymore.
Building coasters is more difficult also. More clicks involved again. They should have just stuck to the same menu which worked well.
The game is pretty, and its fun to watch the people run to the flat rides and the graphics of the flat rides. But that lasts about 30 mintues.
I think most of us would have been very happy just to have new flat rides and coasters in RCT2 over this mess.
The most interesting feature far and away to me are the waterfalls/fountains.
More flats. An obvious addition and a solid one.
Laser shows? As worthless as fireworks.
Shark trains on the corkscrew coasters? Do I smell Wacky Worlds?
There had better be performance improvements or all these added graphic features (laser shows, water effect, that pirate ship battle thingy) are just going to cripple systems even more.
I'll continue with my reserved pesimism at this point but note that I do really like the water stuff. The fountains were a glaring loss in the transition from 2 to 3.

No. Trying to give something a benefit of the doubt before slamming it. As I think we all should do. It's a simple concept is it not? Wait until release before passing judgement. How many times must I say it?
I don't understand your blind defense of the thing, are you getting some sort of kickback from Atari?
Ah...yeah. That's it. I'm getting kickbacks. Oh no..you found me out. Please. Have a little more common sense. Go back and read my last post again. Hardly a blind defense. As I told Gonch, if there are significant (not piddly minor) things wrong or the expansion suffers from performance issues on my machine, then you will hear me holler just as loudly. But the difference between me and all of you it would seem, is that I am willing to take a wait and see approach instead of bashing something I haven't even played yet. Who's the close minded one here? It isn't me.
And drop the "Coasterbuzz isn't nice", you've tried to rile people up with that one three times in the thread and it didn't work, give it up already. You want happy, go to happytherapist.com or something.
Rile people up? Perhaps you got riled up and if you did that's your own issue. I only point out facts (as I see them). You may choose to agree or disagree as you see fit. Doesn't really much matter to me. And really, with the tone of what you posted, you certainly aren't changing my mind on that.
And with that said. I'm not going to waste anymore bandwidth beating this horse. Let's just agree to disagree. I'll wait to play the darn thing before I slam it, and the rest of you...eh..I guess you'll continue to be narrow minded and put something down before you even play it. Perhaps come June you will all be telling me "I told you so" and the expanded game will suck. But I'd like to see that for myself first hand rather then subscribe to a group think situation.

How can you blame anybody for not being happy for this? Even though I bought and supported the RCT2 expansions, they really were abismal, unless you liked scenery (which I did, but I really wanted actual new flats and coasters).
RCT3 got everyone excited, and it blows! Gonch was saying that in RCT2 you could make big themed parks that don't really cater to peeps, and you say that you can do that on RCT3 and Gonch is flip flopping. Not what he was saying at all. On RCT2, I could build a really pretty park that didn't fuction with peeps. RCT3 I can do the same thing, but the entire park dosen't function on the computer. Totally different.
You want to give the benifit of the doubt, we don't want to get screwed again. Agree to disagree, I can see your POV, why can't you see ours?
One of the biggest dangers of reading posts is automatically assigning a tone based on how you are feeling rather than how the author was feeling. Unless you're inside the author's head you can't be sure of the tone...don't automatically assume that without a smiley emoticon the tone is negative.
That's something I have to remind myself everyday, especially when I'm tempted to post a nasty/angry reply.

Alright...one more time.
1) Not riling people up. Or not trying to. Can't control how other people take things. And quite a few threads? I'm only currently posting in two!
2)Blaming anyone for not being happy with this? When have I ever blamed anyone for not liking the current RCT3? Never. But to "not be happy" with something they haven't tried playing yet and that is not released? Yeah..I can blame them for that I suppose. I do understand the "I've been burned and want to be cautious" feeling. That is totally understandable. But to say all RCT3 expansions forevermore will suck because the first thing out of the door did is a little unreasonable I think. Code can be patched, things can be rewritten and optimized. Will it pan out that way? We will see. But that's my point here...none of us can see what June will be like at this point.
Bottom line is that I CAN see a "I've been burned so I'll wait and see" POV, but not a "it will be awful before I even try it" POV.
Let the forum war begin. OOO ( thats my new signiture)
i'm not sure what to put here..
Soaked will also have:
- Better Peep AI. Will handle transport rides better
- Multiple stations for coasters and other tracked rides will actually work!
And they are also continuing to work on bringing tunnels to the game. But they are not sure if they will make it in Soaked or not at this point.
Okay, let me put it this way-If someone were to give you a box filled with human excrement as a gift, when I came back to give you elephant dung, are you gonna be happy with that? Sure, its different, and we don’t necessarily know that we’re gonna hate the elephant dung, but more than likely, unless it is gonna be platinum plated, you’re not gonna be happy bout it.

I'll still be buying soaked hoping its plated with platinum, but I really doubt I'll get over the stink it produces, nor the continuing stink of the first game.
We may be happily surprised, or we may be extremely disappointed. But unless we have a crystal ball, we can't possibly know that ahead of time.
Why? Because these artists consistently produce material that sucks. Is it really such a stretch to add Frontier's track record with the RCT series to that list.
I suppose Carrot Top could, in theory, suddenly begin spouting insightfully witty social commentary or Pauly Shore could turn in a tear jerking oscar caliber performance or the Backstreet Boys could suddenly obtain artistic integrity, but I doubt anyone with an ounce of sense is awaiting any of the above mentioned artist's newest effort with a "Hmmm. I guess we'll just have to wait an see. There's no way to know if that new (tour, movie, album) is going to be as bad as the rest."
Seriously, Frontier has failed to deliver time and time again. Why expect any different this time?

How many times in a row would I have to lift my arm and smack you upside the head before you started ducking when I lifted my arm? We're ducking. Feel free to stand there and see if the arm hands you a hundred dollar bill this time.
I still think the above quote is the most accurate analogy one can make.
Frontier gave us Wacky Worlds.
Frontier gave us Time Twister.
Frontier gave us RCT3.
What exactly about that pattern gives anyone any reason to believe Soaked is magically going to break the chain of punches (or turds).
I'm not standing around waiting for the punch this time. I've been socked three times in a row and common sense says I should expect to get punched again.
If that arm inexplicably starts handing out $100 bills this time around, then I'll get back in line pleasantly surprised. Until then, I'm standing on the sidelines as an observer expecting to see a lot of people get punched again.
Personally, 'buf has me convinced - I'm moving to Stepford too!
-Jimvy! How about fixing the original before money grubbing with the sequel?

:(
I love the backstreet boys
But then again. At least real coasters don't skip and run at like 1 FPS. :)
i'm not sure what to put here..
I explained it earlier Gonch, kickbacks ;)
Great more Fireworks! Too bad I could never figure out how to get that working anyway!
I think this game still isn't ready for the market. Gonch said gameplay sucks, and he is right. But also the performance sucks. Maybe in 2 years it would be great, when 64 bit processors and better video cards comeout and work well. But now, it's more of a fantasy then a realization, both from a performance and gameplay perspective.
Kyle Says: Diamondback was a lot of fun! Made his first time at Kings Island worth it all!

Ah...but the fatal flaw in your argument is that you are assuming the second gift would actually be dung. You the gift giver (Atari?) might know that, but I (or you) as the receiver would have know way of knowing ahead of time what that box contained until we opened it.We may be happily surprised, or we may be extremely disappointed. But unless we have a crystal ball, we can't possibly know that ahead of time.
Fatal Flaw? Did I not say I'd still buy it hoping for Platinum? Again with the excriment comments, if my dog goes poopy on the carpet, do you really think I'm not gonna smack him up side his back side when he goes to squat again?
Sorry, I'm not convinced that 'soaked' is gonna do anything but mmmmmaybe fix a few bugs and add some new stuff. For what you're hoping for, they'd have to develop a whole new game.
And moosh, I'm so not your friend if Infy is ;).
