New RCT3 SOAKED Information:

http://atari.com/us/games/news/67?CMP=EMC-ContentNewsletterMar

I just got this in an e-mail. It's an interview and states that it will have quite a few new things. It does also hit at some of the new rides, coasters, sunburned peeps etc.

I'm glad they put the little kids peeing in the pool in there. That'll be great. I want to see a life gaurd come along with a net and scoop the "object" out. :)

i'm not sure what to put here..

The expansion looks neat but it doesn't look like it will add that much FUN to the game. RCT3 is the boringest RCT game so far. Adding more micro-management will not make it a better game. Just my 2 cents.

I'm out. No more RCT3 for me. I had signed up to beta test Soaked but even that isn't enough to make me keep the game. I've already listed it on Half.com.

Im always a fan of the "adding more flats" idea, I'm quite pleased already with what I've seen in the screens.

I totally disagree.

This expansion is focusing on all the wrong things.

The series gets further and further from what made it great.

RCT3 keeps getting more and more into Sims territory with all the peep focus. RCT was never about the peeps, they were secondary to building a great park. The game was an amusement park sim with a focus on roller coasters. It's not even close to that anymore.

The game already runs excrutiatingly bad and now they're going to use processing cycles to figure sunburn sensitivity, shallow/deep preference, mischief making, and the all time worst video game feature ever - peeing in the water.

Unbelievable.

It's now clear what direction they want the game to go and I'm pretty sure they're going to lose me as a fan a little more with each step.

Maybe I just don't get.

It's one of those things that makes you smile the first day or two, but even two weeks down the line do you think a little peep peeing is going to be something you pay attention to anymore let alone fnd amusement in?

Let me tell you the same joke a couple times a day and see how long it takes before you go from polite laughter to annoyance to a complete tuning out.

It's a short term feature that will get real old real fast and offers no gameplay improvement whatsoever.

I have to get a new computer before it will work for me. RCT3 didn't. Anyway I have to ask, am I the only one who wishes the game would return to its old RCT2 format but with the new rides of RCT3. It was easy to use. You could save rides and scenery and peeps drowned in the water instead of pissing themselves.

Maybe RCT4 will be a nice comb of the best of both RCT2 & 3

That's part of the problem though... a new computer might not help. My rig is pretty near top-of-the-line, and it's still not enough. I have the second-fastest video card in existence and it has almost no impact. I mean come on, I can play Doom 3 at 1280x1024, all effects on, and still get 50+ fps! And I can't get out of the teens on RCT3?

I agree that they completely neglected to identify what made the first two games so great.

I must completely agree, Its not what it used to be, and to add such useless features, even some that may seem fun, its a waste of CPU, they should concentrate more on performance issues in my opinion.
I played RCT3 once and haven't played it since. I've played RCT more times since then.

Yeah, I would have to agree that RCT3 really wasn't that great. RCT and RCT2 are more appealing to me as well.

Oh I still find it fun, but if it worked better, I'd play more often, I'm trying to compete with Gonch and build a park that slows to the most absolute dead crawl possible, lol! :) I'm most likely not going to buy soaked though, i dunno.
I dunno guys. Seems like such negativity on this site all the time. If you look at all the new pics for Soaked it looks like a HELL of a lot more then peep centered. I don't see how it's possible for ANYONE to find the expansion boring. Not at all.

You will have:

- New Coaster types (Rollersoaker, Flat PAX coaster track style, booster bike, etc.)
- New Flat Rides (Parachute, Wipeout, etc.)
- Waterfalls (That look amazing)
- Revised underwater view (Again looks great)
- Underwater tunnels that peeps can walk through with sharks, whales etc. swimming around them
- Trained animal shows (Killer whale show etc.)
- Swimming Pools of water that people can swim in, coasters can dive through the middle of and that even light up at night
- Waterslides (Too many to even mention.)
- New Water fountain shows
- New laser shows
- New path types
- New light types
- Plenty of new building pieces
- Hersheypark rides (Perhaps a scenario?)
- Other new scenarios bound to be in it as well

Here's some new screen shots 3/24/05.

And if you are STILL bored then look at what someone is doing with scenary editing (YES it is now possible!):

How can you be bored with all of that? I don't get it.

Meh.

A whole lot of pretty and no focus on gameplay.

RCT has become a graphic design tool.

Now we'll all have a whole assload of pretty running at 8FPS. Can't wait to drop my $$$ on that.

(note: you may need an umbrella to protect yourself from the sarcasm just oozing off of this post :) )

After having played RCT 3 with the updates, I'll stick to Nolimits. Peeps peeing in the water? Aw come on Atari. I'll save my money and buy something useful. Maybe I should sell my RCT3 disc on Ebay, Buy It Now for $1.oo. The gameplay sucks.

My Beautiful wife, Julia, is the best thing that has ever happened to me!

I agree and disagree with you coasterbuf. Those items that you listed are all neat and I think there's a lot to do/play with in that list. I love the idea of more flats and believe it or not even the waterpark part of it adds a bit of interest to me. BUT... (there's always a but too) all of this is virtually worthless if you can't play the game on your pc. The only way I can get any kind of semi-descent frame rate is when I'm in sandbox mode and have virtually no scenery/people in my park. Otherwise it bogs down to the point of 3-5 fps and that's just unacceptable. (now I sound like the SuperNanny whom btw I think is ultra-hot but that's another message board on a different internet :))

This ain't no book you can close, when the big light hits your eyes. Cropduster-Riot Act-Pearl Jam
Coasterbuff, the additons you list are impressive as are the screen shots. It's the fact that alot of people can't get the game to work right or in my case not at all. If all those things had been in a RCT 1 or 2 add on then you'd see alot more positive responses
Well again..let me reinterate some things I have said in the past.

In addition to all the pretty new things and new rides that I mentioned above, they have also stated that the expansion will also have performance improvements. Plus this time around their is a beta test to catch issues unlike before.

Further, you are all comparing an unreleased product to the way the game works now. I think everyone should at least keep an open mind here and see what they do with it before turning your noses up at it.

Might it turn out the same? Maybe. But maybe not. So many people seem to be so close minded here. I guess I just don't understand that. A wait and see approach is always better I think.

Coasterbuf, you are right, we are whining about an unreleased product but...

I think it is justified. RCT3 can't be fixed with an add-on. Especially a waterpark add-on. I'm not going to give Atari/Frontier any more money. Especially for an add-on to a game I don't enjoy.

I felt the same way about RCT2 but for different reasons. RCT2 was a good game but the add-ons were lame.
