most painful rollercoaster

Sawblade5's avatar

On my most recent coaster trip. I found the Gerstlauer trains to be very rough on my legs. I think all coaster with Gerslauer trains should have the trains replaced with PTC ones.

As for people saying FOF. That ride is a smooth as glass. Don't be saying its rough because of its lapbars. If you still think its too rough you shouldn't be riding any coasters until you know how to sit up right.

Man, did you see all those Sea Gulls at CP?
That's not roughness that intensity, unless your talking about Gerstlauer!

Ninja and Georgia Cyclone @ SFOG

Mean Streak @ CP

SOB @ PKI

and i could go on, but those have caused me so much pain...

SFMM- Psyclone and Flashback
CP- Mantis

Those three are my triumverate (sic) of coasters that need to be scrapped.

I found Shockwave at SFGrAm more than enjoyable, with very little headbanding. I'm just becoming more and more convinced that people don't know how to ride coasters, particularly Arrows, and how to obey those signs that say "keep your head back against the headrest".

Sometimes I feel like it's just me that gets good rides from Arrow coasters.

Sometimes it's up. Sometimes it's down.
But with God, life is one thrill ride that you'll never regret being on.

"Mine is Steel Phantom, that first drop killed me."

If that hurt I'd hate to see what the rest of the ride did to you, as Phantom's Revenge keeps the same first drop. Anyway, Mean Streak has to be the most painful coaster that I've been on.

Yea, but it probably hurt him because of the OTSRs. Now it has lap bars.

Anyway, my most painful is shockwave at PKD

Sorry, but a friend of mine had her neck seriously hurt on that ride, without doing anything stupid. I myself was praying for the ride to be over less than half way through it. Dear god, it was like a midevil torture chamber device! I rode the one at PKI the last year of the over-the-shoulder restraints. Even with the change, it was SO painful, I'm not sure I'd ever be willing to set foot on it again. Two years later, and my friend is STILL having neck problems.

You sur it wasn't a preexisting condition or just having the neck in a bad spot. A few years ago I was bowling and I hurt my neck. I sometime still have problems with it but not on rides. Anyway this neck thing can happen on any ride. Even the smoothest rides can do this.

the most painful coaster i've ever been on is Drachen Fire .

Wow i thought i was the only one who thought magnum was painful. The reason thou i think is becuase if you put the lapbar too tight and when goiing over those bunnyhills you get the pciture, but also the padding on the seat wasent too great either. Another painfull ride is Viper at Sixflags great adventure, that thing has just gotten more rough, and not a bit smother, the only that got smother was the last inversion after that hitting that tight turn at 45 -50 mph is very painful! Another painfull coaster is the Runaway mine train at Sixflags great adventure, it is so painful having a solid metal bar holding you in and going trou all those crazy turns, oh yea and Thunderhauk at Dorneypark is preety rough too,but its the good kind.

I recently went on Hurler at PKD - ouch! Rebel Yell was also a very rough ride.
Sonny and Herturnees, I mean Hercules, are probably the roughest woodies I have been on. Mean Streak use to be, but the trims have destroyed the ride. It actually use to be my #1 woodie. Now it isn't even in my top 30. Slow and boring. And as for the steel coasters, Flight of Fear when it had the OTSR, but now I would have to go with any SLC.

I just remember that when the Flight of Fear train came to a stop back at the station, there was no "yeah!" or "cool!" or any such reaction. The only reaction was audiable expressions of pain and "Ow!" and "god I'm glad that's over". It wasn't just my friend's neck that was hurt. My neck was as well, and I saw SEVERAL people getting off rubbing their necks.

I have no idea how they haven't gotten their pants sued off them for that ride. After that one ride, I would have petitioned to have the ride demolished if I could have. I honestly will NEVER step foot on it again, ever. Yes, the ride was THAT bad and THAT painful.

I keep hearing Magnum. Personally, The Manhatten Express and Flashback are a LOT worse. Magnum just has some age bumps but nothing that bad. I guess I am a little younger than most riders, thus I never get a headache and I could care less about roughness! Ha! In your face people over 18!

oh, I remeber one ride now that hurt me really bad. It was The Hurricane at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. I got some pictures of it on my site here:

The Ninja at SFoG, if anyone has rode this Vekoma POS they'll probally agree.
For me The Boss hurt sooo bad, especially in the back seat. The lateral G's were extreme on the turns. It almost seems like they forgot to bank the turns at the bottom of the hills.

Georgia Cyclone, Son of Beast, and Mean Streak were the most painful woodies for me.

Magnum (Lap Bar), Mantis, Shockwave(PKD), and the old FOF on the steel side.

Adding lapbars to FOF was a 100% improvement to me. It is almost a top ten ride on my list now.

Just wanted to add that after Coastermania/CBuzzCon, I still have no idea how Magnum could be painful unless you're kind of tall and/or you were in a seat with the wheel guard (those coulpe of inches more space would do wonders!). It's a bit rough, but not painful like the OSTRs on the Arrow multi-loopers lately. Those just have not aged well at all. (See GASM at SFGAdv and I can add Vortex at PKI).

SOB wasn't too painful, but the laterals going up the second turn shook the train pretty badly. The maintenance must be a horror there. FOF I thought was great (but it *IS* very twisty and I can see how neck pains can be amplified there. ). The OSTRs must have been horrible on that ending corkscrew, though.

Although short, Face/Off at PKI was pretty painful going through the cobra roll, but nowhere near as bad as the Arrows.

I think the Batman side of Chiller was more painful to me since the twist going up the top hat as harder on my ears than the cobra roll on Robin, but that corkscrew backwards was horrible on both sides.

Steel Phantom was the roughest coaster I have ever ridden in my entire life. They could have named it Steel Phantom-That-Is-Beating-You-With-A-40LB Sledgehammer. It it was still here I would never ride it. If it was the last coaster on Earth, I'd say "TEAR IT DOWN! TEAR IT DOWN!" And I did. And they did. (sort of) However, PR is my #3 coaster.

(#1= MillForce, #2= Wicked Twister, #3= PR)

Why do they report power outages on TV?

GASM @ SFGAdv is by far the most painful coaster I have ever been on. I don't think anything short of $ would get me back on that thing ;).
