More than launch, top-hat and breaks.

I don't get the punch line of the joke rollergater...

Xcelerator has two overbanks. This ride doesn't.

Sorry, the "punch line" must not have been too clear, since you weren't the only one who *missed* the humor. BRAKES stop a moving train, BREAKS is what seems to happen far too frequently with Xcelerator....I was kidding about the downtime issue, and hoping that it's resolved before CP finishes construction of TH:TR.....

Why do they need an elevator shaft up the tower? They would only need it if the ride had breaks on top of it. Aka, go up 415' (speculating) holding breaks then drop. But, I don't see the point of the elevator
The ride will have to be inspected, for one thing, and I wouldn't want to climb all the way up. In addition, there is the possibility, no matter how remote, of a breakdown at the top of the Top Hat. Instead of waiting 8 hours for equipment to arrive that can bring the people down, an already existing elevator will make more sense.

I'm interested and while I'm sure this will probably be a fun coaster the ride itself doesn't isn't enough to make me want to visit the park next year. Heck, even WT wasn't enough to make me plan a visit this year.

I'll probably wait until their next coaster to visit CP again.

They have to inspect it quite often. If you look close at WT, there is a ladder mounted to the track and someone has to climb all they way up there, both to inspect it and change light bulbs from time to time.

Spoken like a true hater. ;)

You know I'm just giving you a hard time.

One thing is that I don't think that if this ride truly is 400 feet tall...I dunno, I don't think people are really contemplating the magnitude of that. Just how tall that really is. And that you're going to be dropping face first at 90 degrees from that height...I mean, just imagine that for a second. I don't know what the layout of the ride is going to be, or how fast, or how tall, or whatever, but just the thought of that is pretty incredible.

My hometown was near Lexington, Kentucky, so that's my best point of reference. The 5/3rd building is 410 feet tall. For those that have been to Lexington, that's a pretty imposing building. And there's only 2 buildings in all of Louisville that are a hell of a lot taller than 400 feet. I dunno, am I making any sense here? It just seems a lot of people are just registering 400 ft in their heads and not really contemplating it.

If the shoe fits, find another one.

If the rumored height of 420' is true, think about this... that's 2/3rds the height of the St. Louis Arch.

For the math whiz-kids out there:

2/3*A~5/3*B~1*Dragster....assuming A=height of St. Louis Arch, B=Bank in Lexington (Wildcat territory), and Dragster, at 420', turns out to be the name of the new ride....

I think 400ft will be massive, intimidating and awesome. But it's still a novelty, and once that wears off, and you get used to the speed and height, how will the ride fare? That's the question I guess only hardened Cedar Point fans will be able to answer. I just personally prefer longer coaster with multi-elements, and will not wait more than a half hour for one trick pony rides. I'm not a big fan of S:TE, Xcelerator or Hypersonic.

"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

Yes, ravenguy98, I know how tall 400 feet is. I spend eight hours a day 44 stories off the ground.

I realize that being behind glass and steel is different than being in an open coaster train, I was just being a smart ass.

This type of ride does not appeal to some of us, no matter how tall or fast it goes.

There really just is not much more to it than that. You do not have to understand this position, as it does not affect you or your enjoyment of the new coaster (?) at CP. All you guys have to do is accept that this opinion exists.

Can anyone make up their mind here?

I can, by not being much of a fan of CP's last 3 choices for coasters, depsite all being built by the great Intamin. Other than Magnum, Wildcat and Power Tower, I'm just not a big fan of their rides.

Chris, just so you know, I wasn't really directing my comments towards you, or anybody that this coaster may not appeal to. My favorite coaster is well under 100 ft tall, is built mostly of wood, and is in the middle of nowhere in southern Indiana, and I can probably think of 20 wooden coasters I would rather ride than my favorite steel coasters.

All I was saying is that no matter how hyped or unhyped you are about this coaster...400 feet tall is really friggin' huge.

Cool, sorry about the mix up.

Can we go to Vancouver now?

CP probably did want to make it longer, but space, time, and money probably made it shorter. Before I go any farther, let me make this clear. The season is still going on. Cedar Point probably isn't going to start revealing too much of this ride because they know that enthusiasts like ourselves like to go and take pictures. They apprerntly have a reason for delaying the announcement and keeping from releasing too much of the ride. If they didn't, then they'de have announced the ride already. Thank you.

On another note - I think it's funny how enthusiasts just made up this "L-TH-B" term. I bet this will stick for future Rcoket Coasters...::chuckles::

Most people who have stood at the base of this thing and looked up at this point probably don't care what it does, because something that tall is going to get your attention and thrill you. I mean, drop rides just go up and down, and I don't see anyone complaining about them.

Why dont they save themselves a lot of money and space and just get a 420 ft drop ride then? Heck make it 500 ft and its even better. I had to say even though I agree with Jeff.

I love drop rides, but I won't wait more than 15 minutes for them.

I'm sure the public will be in awe of this ride, which is really the only thing that matters to CP, other than the fact that it breaks records and it a great marketing move.

Stop now with the Drop Ride stuff before that becomes a new theory.
