Michigan's Adventure Future Plans

Let's just say one of the folks here came up with an idea for his "own" ride...and I'll leave it at that. ;)

Are we talking about the original M:TR or a clone? From all the talk going on around here it would seem that M:TR is a bit on the used side.

SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) - The operator of Cedar Point said Wednesday it will spend $10 million on improvements at the amusement park for the 2004 season. Cedar Fair L.P. said it would expand the park's camping complex and add a play area at its neighboring water park.

The company said spending on improvements for all its parks for next year would total $25 million.

Cedar Point will have an additional 14 lakeside cottages, 30 cabins and 38 luxury campsites for recreational vehicles at its Lighthouse Point camping complex. The expansion will increase the size of the area to 64 cottages, 40 cabins and 97 luxury campsites.

At the 18-acre Soak City water park, Cedar Point will add Splash Zone, an interactive play area including a giant bucket that will pour 1,000 gallons of water on guests every 10 minutes.

At Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, Calif., Cedar Fair will spend $5 million on Rip Tide, a thrill ride that will twist and turn riders in 360-degree arcs as high as 59 feet.

A new thrill ride will be among $4 million in improvements at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Mo.

The remaining $6 million will be spent at Cedar Fair's other parks. Cedar Fair owns and operates six amusement parks and five water parks.

The expansion will increase the size of the area to 64 cottages, 40 cabins and 97 luxury campsites. If MA gets $2mil how would that money impact MA?

You're right. I'm wrong. You're pretty. I'm ugly. You're smart and I'm stupid :)
4 new toilets and some cabanas.

MrScott

How in the hell does it cost $5M for Knott's new Top Spin? Or are they including taking out the church, reconstruction it and any other infrastructure updates they're doing with that price?

Dat sheeet don't make no sense!

You suck big time.

Use it for advertising the park for sale. CF wasted their money on that place. The Ionia Free Fair is better than that place, least they have food, water, and shade.

With that sig, it seems you might be a little on the used side too!

Let's see....DR:TR. Well, it rhymes when abbreviated!

DirtyAss,

I beg to differ. CP did not waste money buying MiAdv. They are just wasting TIME developing it.

Nope, it will be the original, but still MiA couldn't afford it. ;)

MIZZOU-RAH!

Before buying MA maybe, CF should have worked with local goverment about the sewer system . Cp needs to theme the place and give it an atmosphere. It doen't have to be a thrill park to be successful. I think Ma needs to become like a HW or BGW. MA should have a look and feel of a theme park not a broken down carnie parking lot fair.

WHAT no coaster to be built in Ohio in 04? Why are we being punished! What next? No more Rollercoaster Tycoon expansion packs.

Been there lately Bob? It's looking much better already...
I think that a "Coasters" resturant is iminent. It has been added to almost all of the cedar fair parks, however it probably wont come untill a big steel coaster is added, because to my knowledge almost all of the "Coasters" restuarnt have as a backdrop, but "Coasters" is a really nice sit down resturant with a pretty good theming

With WOF getting a mouse, does that mean MiA should get a hyper? ;)
They need to do something about the atmosphere of the place. The park has no personality at all. That is a big concern of mine about Michigan's Adventure.

I still think that an S&S tower of some size would be a good investment, as I don't think MiA is ready to support a large new coaster just yet.

I think MIA needs to advertise more about being cedar points newest sister park. That is a good way to tell people the quality of the park. It may not be much but its still thousands better after CF took it over, and i believe most of the general public that may have visitited it years back and didn't really find the place appealing, would probably give it a second chance if they new what CF has done to it.
No way. People would come expecting another CP and be disappointed.

Besides, don't you think they'd rename the others "Knott's Dorney Park", "Knott's of Fun" and "Knottyfair" if they wanted to give them a chain-park presence? They don't wanna. They want to each park to maintain its own persona..in theory, anyway. If any more of that faux 50s stuff crops up, I won't be so sure.

Don't you think you have overdone the stupid M:TR crap a bit much?

Maybe so, but I'd expect doing that may be a good way to dissapoint people. Michigan's Adventure has a rather weak collection or rides and no atmosphere or energy about it. Basically, its the polar opposite of CP. I'm not sure that is the best way to approach MiA advertisements, because it builds up unreal expecations that most likely won't be met when visiting that park.
