Mean Streak Thought

I can answer that one easily: Summers-Dinn, makers of other problematic coasters such as Hercules & Texas Giant [both of which have trims of the first drop].

I actually didn't mind the trims on the first drop of Hercules - in fact, I kind of enjoyed it. The hanging sensation is great, especially looking down upon the curve and lake.

Edit: Trims :)

Trims, Eric...about 4 of them, I think...all in a row.

When I rode Herc we came to a COMPLETE stop on those trims. It felt like an Impulse.

God bless Intamin, Company that I love. Stand beside her, and ride her, from the opening to the closing of the day.

We came to a near stop, too, Brent.

I love Mean Streak, it ranks in my top ten list of favorite coasters. After being on her crew last season, I call her my giant wooden baby. I just cant wait to ride it again this season.

Riding a giant wooden baby?

I feel an urge to bring a certain M:TR topic up again ;)

And here ya'll thought it was dead.......

l. Every time I'm there, be it May, August, weekend, midweek, morning, night, there are long lines. And as I watch, many of the riders are repeaters. Somebody likes it.
2. The coaster generates heated discussions like this. And like it or not, these discussions generate interest, which is what a park wants.
3. The ride is an icon. It visually stuns people driving into The Breakers or the camping cabins. It appears on travel brochures and tv shorts. Millions of visitors go home with photographs of it. That sort of publicity is priceless.
4. The maintenance would justify the cost even if it were not a ride at all but merely a decoration.
5. We have to keep reminding ourselves that most people don't even know boards like these exist. They just go to the parks a few times a year for a great time. Those are the huge bulk of visitors that give the parks their profits. And they love the ride. if all of us enthusiasts boycotted a ride or a park completely, it wouldn't dent their profits much. That may wound our egos, but it's true. Looked at from this perspective, Mean Streak serves its public well.
The roughest coaster ever made, yet I still try riding it every time I'm at the point.
The best part of Mean Streak is the fact you can sometimes be the only one in the train (right behind a mostly full train I may add!) and they'll still distpatch you. And I thought the train felt like it was going to stall full... but when empty, you are SURE the train is going to stall. Great fun, I seem to catch it on good days.

One of the things I love about Mean Streak is you can just walk right on.

I thought that she was running much like it was last year. A bit slow, but nearly as rough as years past. It's really earned a bad reputation in the later ninties (which was deserved), but has also improved greatly since. Go ride it if you haven't in a while, you may be suprised.
Is it just coincidence that all summers-dinn creations are problem plagued? I ,unwillingly admit, it must be major flaws in their designs. Who knows,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I give up on this topic, I think we beat it to a pulp many times now

I actually was surprised when I rode it on Friday. It was much smoother than years past. My record of elbowing my riding partner in the face ended this week, breaking a record of 5 years. My (non-enthusiast) friends actually complained that the Blue Streak was rougher than MS.

"Hello, this is Molman in the morning. Good Molman to you. Today part four of our series of the agonizing pain in which I live every daaaay."

To be perfectly honest, I thought SOB is a lot rougher than MS. SOB gave me bruises out the wazoo! I'm still a fan of the good 'ol mean streak. It's had its ups and downs throughout the years and I admire CP for putting in all the effort to keep it in running condition. (as much as possible at least) It's always on my "to ride" list whenever I'm at CP :D
