Sounds more like you don't like it. If parkgoers don't like it, they won't ride it. But it looks like they do.
Some of you need to enjoy what you have. Boo hoo at a trim brake all you want, this ride is decent enough in the daytime and great nighttime.
I rode it a few years ago with the trim on hard and thought it was a lot of fun. I didn't find it rougher than any other woodie I have been on. In fact, I think Ga. Cyclone is way rougher than MS. Don't like it? Don't ride it. Pretty simple solution to roughness. Just stop complaining about it and ride something else.
Richard, who thinks MS bashing is as trite as Six Flags bashing.

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
The question is, if the train were more forgiving to the riders, could they let the thing run a little wilder, knowing that they weren't hurting people?
There is a fairly simple fix to the mistracking problems as well, but there is a lack of suitable hardware out there to implement the fix...so while the fix is simple, it isn't really do-able.

Who would love to design a new train for Mean Streak from the ground up, but who isn't really qualified to do so...
They don't underestimate costs. But they know they could spend an infinite amount of money trying to please spoiled enthusiasts.
GP, if I may.. Spoiled enthusiasts are park patrons. And if the money they bring in isn't enough to pay for the prime upkeep of a popular attraction then the parks, by logical deduction, underestimated the costs of maintenance for that ride. Wouldn't you say?
MS bashing is becoming a bit trite, I agree. But it's also understandable considering the ride has the potential to be so much more. It is an amazingly beautiful structure and a exorbitantly boring ride. :(

Lately, I can walk onto the steps without stopping.
Mean Streak's problem, beyond it's structural and tracking issues with that first turn, is that it spends most of its trackage as a scenic railway. Lowering darn near every hill by 50' might do it a world of good.
It would also leave you enough wood for a second coaster...
Nobody goes to The Point to ride Mean Streak. Many people don't even bother with it. It's not a draw, and it is expensive to maintain, they should plan on losing it in the next couple of years and replacing it with a seriously GOOD woodie.

I'll take The Beast anyday. :)

All who think Mean Streak needs a match taken to it say I.
Here's what they should do to improve MS: Turn the trains backwards.

Have you ridden a Toboggan?
And I am awear that Mean Stread is the highest maintainence ride there, so if they couldn't maintain it, it should have never been installed in the first place. I have ridden Son of Beast, and that was definitely a big mistake to install, because the track needs to be replaced in 1/2 year, so I am not a fan of bulding woodies over 100 feet. I know I was exagerating about the money thing, so sorry.
As long as a good GG woodie was installed in its site, and not some tame GCI thing, I would be totally in favor of it being replaced. I just don't want to see a woodie, even a bad one, go if something no better will be in its place.
But for now, I stand by my sig.

I am not going back to Cedar Point until they throw Mean Streak's brakes into lake Erie. There should be a law against killing coasters like Cedar Fair does.

Sugart, I know that PKD doesn't have the best upkeep of woodies, and they aslo don't have the best woodies to begin with, but saying that Grizzly is a piece of junk is just worth beheading. It was rough last year, but it was still an incredible intense coaster, and much better than that sissy Lightning Racer, shich has to be the tamest and least exciting woodie I have ever been on. And just this past winter, over 1/3 of the entire track on Grizzly was replaced, and it is one of the smoothest actually intense coasters in the world. Dude, you have to ride grizzly again, because that is the best coaster in all of Virginia, and kicks the snot out of anything at Cedar Point or Hershey.
I rode Grizzly awhile ago, and I remember I was unimpressed. It wasn't to rough, but it wasn't exciting. I was back over to Hurler right after the ride, which I think is an outstanding woodie with awesome airtime. However *my* opinion is that Hershey has a better woodie collection, and MS is better than Grizzly. But everyone has their own opinions, and I'm not saying yours is wrong.
What really matters is the GP.
I also would agree LR is sissy, the first half is great but the second half it just wanders through... however, I never bash the ride since this thing is a GP magnet, with great capacity, and isn't that horribly bad. I'd rather be riding it's neighbor, my #1 woodie (the Wildcat) which never has a pretty long line because the GP finds it to rough, but the LR always has people smiling and clapping because it is a very controlled, and comfortable ride.
When I rode MS, I found it getting a few complements afterwards. My Mom (who would be considered part of the GP) loved it and thought it was great how it weaved in and out of itself. It also had a 15 minute line while several other coasters were walk-ons there.
