Maverick

If S&S can come back to CP, I don't see why Intamin can't.
A plug and play woodie would be awesome at CP, with the caveat that it would probably be better off replacing Mean Streak.

And yes, I can see Cedar Point making an attempt to break a handful of records if it is indeed an Intamin woodie.

That does sound like it would fit the name "Maverick" very nicely. :)

EDIT: The Intamin woodie might not be such a liability since its relatively proven technology. No hydraulic stuff, LIMS or support issues for the woodie. ;) Including El Toro, aren't there already 3 built? *** Edited 2/16/2006 6:53:27 PM UTC by CoasterFanMatt***

^Yes, El Toro is the third of those new Inatmin/Stengel Woodies. The other two are very reliable and Colossos will have it´s fifth birthday in a few weeks. Its still smooth, fast and gorgeous with no washboarding in sight.

I just hope that the adition of a cable lift will not mean trouble (downtime) for El Toro. Since the train has to attach to the cable outside of the station this ups the possibility for all sorts of "Intamin errors".

Simply retracking MS with the Intamin track would not be possible as it is a whole different kind of construction and structure.

wiki wiki wiki wiki...ahh shut up!

Assuming that the reports are true that MS's problems are structural and not trackwork-related, how is changing the track bed going to help?

IMO, "fixing" MS would require MASSIVE amounts of changes to the structure and even considerable tweaking of the layout (the second half is one long, slow, decline).

Oh, and add me to the list of people that think a GIANT wooden coaster needn't be a bad ride...although I *wood* follow HW's lead - any *record-breaking* wooden coaster should be an O-n-B in terms of layout, lest ye repeat the SOB experience...

Gator, MS has already had all that structural work, retracking ect. The even rebuilt the first drop at least once and shortened the third drop hill after the brakes were added.

And to think, The easiest cheapest solution was and is to shallow the drop by 10-20ft. Take off the brakes and let it run.
