Honest question.
But a loaded one, right? ;)
Seems to me the blog is pretty narrow in focus - it's for Cedar Point fans. People genuinely interested in the parks and rides. The type of demo that easily overlaps with the 'enthusiast' crowd.
I suspect that a large majority percentage of regular readers (not the occasional stumbler) also visit other fan/enthusiast sites as well.

I respectfully disagree with you all who think that the "GP" is a bunch of ignorant know-nothngs. The news covers such stories because there is a public interest. All of the info is on CP's website, including pics. Doesn't any of the members of the blissfully ignorant "GP" ever go to the site to check out what's going on at the park?
You're forgetting that not all the GP that visits CP is from the northern Ohio area. Down in Indianapolis, there hasn't been one single mention of Maverick's delayed opening in 'the media'. Hell, I had to be the one to alert some friends that were going to CP opening weekend about Maverick's delay the day before they planned to leave. They had absolutely no idea there was any delay.
I think it's safe to say that families planning a trip to the park are extremely likely to check the CP website before they ever leave home. But for the majority of teenagers and 20-some college students, they don't think twice about checking to see if a certain ride is open or not. *** Edited 5/21/2007 8:05:24 PM UTC by whoeverknew***
Stop me if you've heard this one... You could actually, you know, wait until you and other humans have been on the ride.

It all depended on how you answered it! :)
Anyway, that is what I was thinking, too, but I have to be honest in admitting I'm not one to get into blogs yet so I didn't know who was reading them.
Would the media get into a blog like CP's and take a quote or two? I know they do it in the investment industry from time to time.

There's little reason to even have them on Maverick at this point, since the roll is gone. What I would like to see is CP modify the existing restraint design. Basically, these newer OSTRs are just lapbars that come down from the sides instead of the floor--they just have those 2 OSTR "straps" attached to them. If they remove the straps and leave the "lap bars"--problem solved.

What makes you jump to this conclusion?
Read my "rant" that was snipped. It is on the previous page. I think what I said was pretty clear. If you don't agree, just don't worry about it. I can't make the ride a headbanger by posting about it. That is just my prediction.

Not sure I'd totoally agree with that. I suspect more than ever people are at least checking for prices and hours and stuff like that.
How about this...individual guests who check www.cedarpoint.com before their trip are in the minority, but the percentage of "trip planners" who check the website is much higher.
In other words, Mom.
Next time around, they'll buy....another Intamin... :)
Anyone closer to the park than Boston see any signs of new track?
Tom
Seriously though, I hope to see it up and running soon. While I agree that the delayed opening shouldn't affect anything at this point, if it's dragged into late June or July I can only imagine the outrage we'll see here at the Buzz.
Did the delay opening Mr. Freeze at SFStL have any lasting adverse effects? That opened an entire year late due to problems discovered during the testing phase. I would say no, so why should this be any different?
