Magic Mountain announces three new coasters, sort of

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

While no press releases have been issued, it appears that Six Flags Magic Mountain has announced three new coasters, which will bring thier count to a record 15.

A flier distributed to current pass holders describes a "super boomerang" called Deja Vu, a coaster simply called "X," that sounds suspiciously like Arrow's phantom 4th Dimension and a junior coaster called Goliath Jr.

No track underneath you! Wow! We've never seen that before, have we? ;)

These new coasters sound very strange. I'm just wondering if they're wise investments.
We'll see! :) I'm just glad I have a chance to find out!

no track underneath or above..hehe
There you go...

Although, we have seen that before, too. (See: Setpoint's Seizmic) I wonder whose was first, I really do. Which became publicly known first?

The coaster counnt record is dumb. CP doesn't *need* to rush to build four new coasters in two years, the record is just a tagline

I just don't get it. Why are so many people so angry on behalf of Cedar Point at the fact that Magic Mountain is getting three coasters? I don't think anybody will think lesser of Cedar Point just because of SFMM's lead in the coastercount. I know that it's natural to defend one's park, but
bashing SFMM just because the park wants to build more rides doesn't make sense. Like I said before some time ago on these boards, "quality vs. quantity" is really a "get-you-nowhere" assumption. Quality is just a matter of opinion, and people surely don't always agree on what coasters are of better quality.
Because Quality matters in conjunction with quantity. SFMM is only going for quantity.

Oooooh, my freekin' head.... Too many G's Too many G's! No, no, Too much Beer before the G's!
Not to all of us Skyboss. I think SFMM has both. So who's right?

I thought so... Setpoint, correct? Couldn't Arrow get away with it, though? I mean, if you ask me, 4-D is a lot different than Seizmic. You've got to wonder, though, if the 4-D's will make Seizmic look less interesting.

I think that they should judge the record for the most number of coasters on how good they are. Anyone can come out one year and announce that they are gonna build 3 snoozers. I would have to say that if you judged by the good coasters at a park; Cedar Point would win by a landslide.
Uh...how can the record for the most number of coasters not be judged on...(here's the surprise) the NUMBER of coasters? Come on, Magic will have 15 coasters compared to 14 for Cedar in 2001. Is it not a fact in mathematics and long-accepted common sense knowledge that 15 is greater than 14?..hehe..I learned this in Calculus. I'm not trying to say that Magic is the better park (cuz that's purely a matter of opinion), but Magic will officially have the most number of coasters. As for as quality goes, you guys can say that Cedar Point has better quality coasters, but others can repute that idea, and say otherwise. THEY"RE JUST OPINIONS!!!

Go Full Force: The 4D will be a snoozer!?! Get serious dude. How many CP rides are good? Talk about snoozers, if you ask me, only 5 maybe 6 of 14 are worth more than one lap per visit. Not a strong showing in my book.

"X" marks the spot in 2001!
Lynch: It isn't Sezimic either...check out the news item i posted about a month back....

Wow, I guess your showing your true colors, Soggy. Arent you the same one who said CP had quality and quantity and CP and MM are great parks. Your are acting just like the idiots who have the silly war going on between the two parks. BTW, I wouldnt exactly say MM has the best ratio, either.

You are right, Bernard. I got a bit carried away. Its hard not to get excited about 3 (2 grown-up) coasters in one year, only to have someone else call a 76 mph 200+ foot (probabally over 200') and another never before seen coaster snoozers.

I get tired of the same old "CP is better because we have more roller coasters." routine. Now the new routine is "Well, it's not about numbers, it's about quality. CP has better quality." BOTH parks have their fair share of poor quality and good quality roller coasters.

I'm convinced, at this point, that anyone else who continues to carry on this discussion, for whatever reason (especially to be "right"), does in fact need to get out a little, find a mate, go bowling, have an adult beverage, beat up their younger sibling... whatever. The geek factor here is going to scare away new members!
