Magic Mountain announces three new coasters, sort of

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

While no press releases have been issued, it appears that Six Flags Magic Mountain has announced three new coasters, which will bring thier count to a record 15.

A flier distributed to current pass holders describes a "super boomerang" called Deja Vu, a coaster simply called "X," that sounds suspiciously like Arrow's phantom 4th Dimension and a junior coaster called Goliath Jr.

You forgot to mention Cedar Creek Mine Ride! Now theres a gem for you!
Thanks John, we can never forget that one. And a bunch of second rate rides? That's pretty harsh and I strongly disagree. Coaster for coaster, I think SFMM and CP come out pretty evenly and neither of them can match SFGAm in my view. Each have their share of mistake coasters, and coasters that make you say WOW! And WOW is what I say when I think of this new Arrow coaster as well as all the other improvements SFMM has planned. This is the only subject I can think of where a company acually gets criticized for adding something new and exciting for fans. So SFMM went out and got a couple of free agents for the stretch drive, I'll be too busy enjoying them to worry if it's as good as another park zillions of miles away. SFMM fans let us unite and enjoy our new toys, and let the bitter people keep comparing and complaining!

Well jeff now you know never to post anything about Six Flags Magic Mountain or Cedar Point ever again.

Everyone come with me to the I-X indoor amusement park where we can ride "Space coaster" for hours on end!!
I'm still keepin' an eye on Knott's. They must respond not only to SFMM, but DCA as well. Something huge is coming. That and the move of Boomerang to San Diego. Note: Cedar Fair, low capital expenditure year. Expect a ton of cash to pour out for 2002!

PS- I've said wow to SFMM many times only to go, well... Okay afterward. Colossus jerks ya, Goliath rips ya, Viper wrenches ya, Ninja just sucks, Batman was a good first attempt, Riddler rocks - but its a nutcracker, Psyclone just flat out sucks, Revolution is too slow, Flashback - OUCH, Superman - Montezuma without a loop, De Ja Vue - We'll see, "X" untested - could flop folks ie windjammer, David - good for kids. Am I missing something here? 15? I count 13 save the kiddies.

Oh my freekin' head!

#3: Tie B:TR/Raptor
#4: Viper (SFGAm)
#5: Goliath/Magnum
Knott's Berry Farm in a way isn't even a direct competitor with SFMM. It will never have the room that the Mountain has. What KBF does is leach tourists away from DL, they both complement each other very well. All that Knotts has to do is have rides that will interest the general public. I LOVE KBF, Ghostrider is D best...hands-down!

I beleive that CP is a great park, As well as Magic Mountain. Everyone just relax, let cooler heads prevail. If your a true chainriding enthusiast you should appreciate what both parks have done to advance our passionate pastime.

Bash this if you want...but you know the truth. I by the way am a SFMM passholder...if I lived in Ohio I would be a CP passholder.

It's 15, get used to it! Good coasters or bad coasters, SFMM is now the world leader! That's kinda hard to believe, but kinda sweet!

Well shoot. Simcoaster beat me to being the first person on the 16th to state the obvious. Anyway I think that both parks are equally great! I think that both parts have their pros and cons with the coasters, but in the end this intense competition with the the parks only gives us, the coaster riding public, more and more great thrills in the country. And even though it is past Thanksgiving, this is something we all should be thankful for.

10 on Jack. Well Nuts....
LOL! Well no one has actually talked about the coasters yet, which is the reason I'll be there on Tuesday. Deja Vu, ahhh whatever. It'll be fun if there's a short line. "X" all I can say is, WOW! 76mph, I thought this would be some Stealth knock off, but it sounds like the real deal. Goliath Jr. (bad name) is exactly what my son is looking for, more stuff for him to do. No one has mentioned yet that 6 flat rides are coming as well! I hope they're the latest Huss, Chance ect. As people sit and compare parks, the joy in my son's eyes when I told him the news is more than enough approval for me. BTW, he's 12, and he loves ALL the coasters at SFMM.

Is it just me, or does doing outside flips going 78 mph sound, well, fatal?
78 MPH, what another hyper? How else to you gain that speed?
why didn't they name the kiddie coaster "david"???
Remebrer that rumor a whil back about that one?

Well, at least I won't have to wait in line behind Skyboss. It sounds like he hates all the coasters at SFMM, which I find VERY hard to believe. Come on dude, lighten up, what B&M standup does not have the "nutbuster?" And what exactly was wrong with Goliath? "Rips ya" what does that mean? I guess some people cannot just have a good time riding coasters if they are not in Ohio.

-------------
So you want a coaster in your backyard? I hope you have a big backyard.
Skyboss, I can only wish that X could follow a "hyper" like format, but somehow I doubt it. However, despite your views on SFMM's coasters(which your certainly entitled to), I have yet to not be pleased with what SFMM has come up with. I have my fingers crossed that these three are good ones, and part of a bigger plan to improve the park. Sort of like what SFOT is doing.

all i have to say is the three best parks in the world are six flags great america, sfmm, and cedar point. who cares which one is better. They all have their highlights. But the force is still the best coaster on the planet.

bhilk
You forgot SFGadv bhilk :)

Six Flags Great Adventure rules.....well... on weekdays that is
And IOA, and BGW and SFOT! Sorry, I had to throw those in. Overall, Cedar Point is probably the best park in America, but that doesn't mean other parks should just sit on their hands and do nothing. Bring on the thrills!

I hear a lot about CP's coasters. Magnum, DIE HEAD DIE! Raptor, no themeing, just dirt. Mantis, one of the worst B&M in the world. Just to get on people's nerves, ALPENGEIST looks way better than raptor in so many ways it can't compare (I haven't been on one). I hope SFMM three new coasters and what I've read, 6 new flats are awesome. Whoever said SFMM won't join the thrill ride park thing or whatever, they've already have buddy, get over it.
i have to say i like both parks very much and both are very much hurtin in the wood department and opporation wise the turnover rate at cp is great they are well staffed and can load and unload quite fast but ever go when it isnt crowded and you arent allowed to sit in the last few rows on gemini or some of the other less popular rides.
then again if you are by yoursef at sfmm you cant ride the back row at all wich is almost as bad as not being able to choose your seat on MF at CP
speaking of MF as fun as it is am i the only one who thinks that this ride is WAY overrated
let the coaster wars continue because WE ARE THE REAL WINNERS if they build it we will come
people can say what you want about both parks
i think CP runs a park better but SFMM is quite fun and if they could get revolution back to a lap bar that would instantly move it back up on my list
For some reason Deja Vu doesn't impress me much, but "X" just sounds like it's gonna be dope. Trust me, in 3-5 years after "X" has become a big hit CP will follow suit and build an Arrow 4th dimension, just bigger and faster as the CP tradition goes...lol....
