Magic Mountain announces three new coasters, sort of

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

While no press releases have been issued, it appears that Six Flags Magic Mountain has announced three new coasters, which will bring thier count to a record 15.

A flier distributed to current pass holders describes a "super boomerang" called Deja Vu, a coaster simply called "X," that sounds suspiciously like Arrow's phantom 4th Dimension and a junior coaster called Goliath Jr.

Go on, Magic Mountain!!!
Excellent. Aren't they supposed to make an announcement on the 19th? Or was that some other park? Also, Jeff, there is a spell check feature in the forums now!!! ;)
Yeah!!!! I had planned on going to SFMM for the 1st time next year. Now with a 4th Dimension going in there, it will be a "MUST HIT" park! Yeah Yeah Yeah 15 coasters in one spot. I love CP, but it's time to let someone else wear the crown for a year. I DO EXPECT CP TO GET IT BACK IN 2002 though!

Let's please not go there to the tired debate, but if SFMM marketed Goliath as the world's tallest roller coaster, what is Superman?

They marked it as the tallest continuous circuit roller coaster Jeff.

Top 5:

1.) Medusa (west)
2.) Stealth
3.) Goliath
4.) The Riddler's Revenge
5.) GhostRider
SFMM does list Superman as currently the world's tallest shuttle coaster. Jim Blackie did once call Goliath the world's tallest rollercoaster, but this is the same guy who claimed that Batman was his idea! He's a good guy, but some of the things he says...

Have you ever gotten the feeling that you've been here before? Six Flags Magic Mountain 2001...
Until CP or SFMM get some decent woodies, i still be at PKI. See yah there.....
I have to say, this makes me VERY EXCITED! Now, I have to extend the amount of times I hit the mountain from two per year to at least six or seven, heck maybe even 10 or 12! Since I have family down that way, they'll be seeing me a lot more often! ;) I tell ya, California is coming into it's own next year! The king of coaster parks is getting three new metal monsters, SFMW is rumored to be getting the Impulse, PGA is getting the mouser, DCA is opening up two new coasters, Legoland is getting the Mack mouse coaster, Knott's is getting a skycoaster, whew! That's a lot of coasters in one year! I cannot wait for the 2001 season! Here's to a great year! Happy Holidays everyone. Peace. :)
I'm with you on the wood thing Raven! Maybe in 2002, CP and SFMM will have a battle of the woodies(no jokes please) ;)

SFO is getting a coaster with and X in it too so maybe they`re getting a clone of the same ride. I hope so, i don`t want to go all the way out to CA to ride a 4th dimension. Since the rumor is SFO is getting a flyer maybe they`re both getting a flying dutchman. Or...Maybe both parks are getting the B&M flying prototye?Maybe that`s why the train is a secret.
Whats this mean for Cedar Point?
It means that Cedar Point is now just another amusement park, like everyone else. No record tallest/fastest coaster & no record amount of coasters & soon... no record amount of rides.

(sad, since CP is my fav of all parks)
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! CP better get 2 huge coasters for 2002! Even if they don't CP is still better than SFMM. And CP is NOT just another Amusement park. "BATTLE OF THE WOODIES 2002!" yee ha!

"Right about now you are about to be possesed by the sounds of DJ MFORCE"
Good im glad SFMM is going to beat CP.CP is from what ive heard way over rated and there roller coasters suck!but sfmm's are awsome:)
Dawg Byte, Cedar Point is one of the best amusement parks in the world. Just because they lose the record does not mean they are just another amusement park. This park is beautifully maintained and run, with one of the best line up of coasters(only SFGAm's line up is better IMO). What this annoucement really means for Cedar point is that you can now expect something KILLER for 2002. As for SFMM, they're taking the coaster wars to the next level and that can only be good for us enthusiasts! A few flat rides wouldn't hurt as well.

The park that everyone is overlooking in all of this is Knott's Berry Farm. Can you imagine what Cedar Fair has cooking up for that park???

Wow, thats such a *positive* response, Connor. Glad to see you dont have any biases.

Dawg Byte says: It means that Cedar Point is now just another amusement park, like everyone else.

I'm sure Cedar Point will dry up and fail financially because some park in SoCal that 95% of the guests have never heard of has more coasters.

Conner's remark isn't even worth responding to.

Remember kids:

1. Think before you post. I try to be really patient, but sometimes I see remarks that are so incredibly stupid that if I don't point it out, someone else will.
2. "Sucks" posts are a waste of time and bandwidth.
3. Your home park is not the source of religion any more than computer operating systems or political parties (all of which are often mistaken for things worth getting your panties in a bunch over).

Cedar Point's my home park, but I say bring it on. The more coasters the better. I'm not going to stop going to CP because they have one less coaster than a park in SoCal, and I might even go there to ride.

"I've never been there, but from what I heard they suck." Get a grip.

By the way, we all have biases, and that's not a bad thing (I hate the way people use the word "bias" in forums). Having a bias is OK if it doesn't interfere with your better judgement and common sense.

IMO there is now way CP is over rated. Even though it may not have records it is by far my favorite amuesment park. CP has a friendly staff, it's clean, and a nice setting. Those are three things you won't find at any SF park. Hey CONNER you say you heard people tell you CP's coasters suck! They have got to be on drugs. Hmmm lets think here ... Magnum XL 200, one of the best steel coasters out there. Raptor, IMO the best inverted by far(much better than any of the Batmans). Mantis one awesome stand up although RR is a little better IMO. Oh yeah, whats that other suckie coaster ... I got it. Millenium Force, out of all the coasters I've been on (yes, I've been to SFMM) it is the best coaster I've been on. Huge drop, high speeds, sweet turns, and massive airtime it totally surpasses every coaster at SFMM. BTW having two more coasters than onother park doesn't make it any better than onother. Any day I'd rather go to IOA then SFMM, and IOA only has 3 coasters!
