Magic Mountain announces three new coasters, sort of

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

While no press releases have been issued, it appears that Six Flags Magic Mountain has announced three new coasters, which will bring thier count to a record 15.

A flier distributed to current pass holders describes a "super boomerang" called Deja Vu, a coaster simply called "X," that sounds suspiciously like Arrow's phantom 4th Dimension and a junior coaster called Goliath Jr.

While everybody keeps on talking about CP and MM, they are forgetting that PKI is just a few hours south from CP. And PKI is a lot better then Cp. PKI has 3 of the best wooden coasters on the planet as in the Beast, SOB,and the racer.Cedar point has just 2 woodies and niether of them are that good. PKI also has some great steel coasters as in the Vortex, Face/Of,Flight of Fear, Top Gun, and Advanture Express, which is really a hidden gem. Besides Magnom, raptor, and Gemini, Cp has no quality coasters (Last time I wasat CP was in 99, so I have not ridden MF yet) Also, Pki has a better freefall ride than Cp. I mean, Drop Zone is a whole lot better than Power Tower. Also, lets not forget why we are having this argument at all. We are because a coaster opened up in 1972 and started a seocond golden age of roller coasters that we are still in today. Taht ride, none other then PKI's Racer.
Thank you, Charlie Brown, for your very intelligent two cents. We have had a nice discussion for once aboot CP/MM and I was just waiting for someone to screw it up. How can you make judgement if you haven't even ridden anything? I have rode Alpie and Raptor. Raptor is the clear winner. Raptor isn't as fast and disorienting as Alpie is, which makes it better for me. I am sure most other buzzers with sense will tell you that Raptor is better.

This cracks me up, what kind of thrill seeker would say that?? Punk, your the reason they are bulding Goliath jr. With an attitude like that you should be the Mayor of Bugs Bunny World.

I don't get why every one likes Raptor so much to me it was a bigger less intense version of B:TR (which is still a great ride I just don't see why it is better than all other inverteds). And Charlie Brown how can you compare rides you have never ridden, and I don't see how Mantis is one of the worst B&M's. Anyway getting back on subject # of coasters don't make a park the best. But it certainly dosen't hurt this should improve MM,( which seems to add a major attraction the year after I go there, went in 96 then in 97 they added Riddler.)

Yeah no kidding Punk, How can Charlie Brown judge judge the two coasters if he hasn't been on them. He's just bashing CP's coasters. I've ridden both and in the end, Raptor still comes out a winner. Don't get me wrong BGW fans, Alpengeist still a great ride.
I'm may make all of you mad. I'm tired of the CP is better than everyone arguements. I thought is was nice, but half of their coasters aren't that great. I don't believe that record numbers equals quality. IMO BGW is much nicer than CP. It's better themed and no one smokes in line like at CP. They also have Alpengeist and Apollo's Chariot. Hersheypark IMO is also a better park than CP. Look at their woodie selection: Wildcat, Lightning Racer, and Comet. As for the metal detector thing; if your park doesn't have them than do they really care about your safety? I think not. Gang members aren't the only ones who carry guns and knives. All it takes is one crazy person or an altercation over a line-jumper for someone to get hurt or killed. Do you really think your safer just because you're in the midwest? *** This post was edited by Intamin Fan on 12/16/2000. ***
I would just like to say how can every one be saying that Cedar Point has nothing in the wood department. Blue Streak is by far one of the best wooden coasters I have ever ridden!
And to the news of SFMM adding 3 new roller coasters, I say good for them. That is great for MM. But I want to make a point here. In 2003 will Cedar Point add a new boomerang and a kiddie coaster just so that they can have the title back? No, they will not. Now I'am not putting SFMM down, it's just that any park can build alot of coasters. But it is the parks that put effort into it. Just look at Holiday World! I know that SFMM is also getting this X coaster. HEY! This might be awsome! That's effort but the other two no. When Geauga Lake transformed into SFO they said 4 coasters. I couldn't believe my ears. But they really got 1 kiddie, 1 non-circuit, and 2 great rides. I'am not putting down SFO but it's just the little things like this that Six Flags are doing. In 2002 if Cedar Point builds 2 kiddie coasters and a shuttle loop, I would be saying the same thing I'am saying right now!

you people are only interested in numbers when it comes to coasters. When it goes down to the facts the only thing you prove by numbers is you have money, whats the big deal??!!! You have 15 coasters, whoopie do are they all good? Probably not! So what I conclude is numbers don't matter it's the quality of them, if they are smooth and fast I'll ride them if they are rough and fast I might ride it, if its rough and slow then forget it!

Talon is going to rock, roll, and take its toll!
And.... Six Flags has a long way to go to even touch Dinsey or Knott's in theming. I'll have to pick a cold day on the hill to go to SFMM becasue paying 40 bucks for one ride on each rollercoaster just doesn't cut it for me. Four or Five of each in a day seems more pleasing to me as it's not every day you can spend at any amusement park. (HINT DISNEY!)

Oh my freekin' head!
Didn't I say it looks better? Maybe I was exagerrating that it can't even compare, but I just said it looks better IMO. I didn't say it had a better overall ride, more thrills. I said LOOKS, LOOKS..

...And I also said I hear people say things. Like Mantis being of the worst. I didn't say I said it *** This post was edited by Charlie Brown on 12/17/2000. ***
Wow, this is alot of posts!
A lot of posts basically saying the same things over and over lol! Skyboss, I agree with you on Disney, still the best park in California. SFMM and CP are not about theming, and that's ok. If all the parks were the same, what would make the one YOU like so special? Think about it...

-------------
Have you ever gotten the feeling that you've been here before? Six Flags Magic Mountain 2001...
Hmmm... Good point, Simcoaster! I am also worried about Knott's, but it excites me to think what they may do to fight back.

Chill oot, Anit-Rumor, I have personal preferences that some do not have. I truly hope you can live with it. I like to fly on coasters and know where I am at. I like to turn into every turn, flip with every inversion. I don't like to tossed aboot so fast I have time for nothing except a headache. Should I be mayor of Bugs Bunny Town? No.

Wait a minute! Wait a minute! the 3 best parks in the country are Holiday World, Knoebels, and Hersheypark! I swear, some of you people have no heart.
Actually Knott's is my favorite, I was only elluding to the fact that Disney should do more for line reduction.
