Though track has been arriving for sometime now, Knott's Berry Farm has officially announced its new coaster, Xcelerator. The new ride will send riders up 205 feet going zero to 82 mph in 2.3 seconds. The full circuit coaster with be 50's themed with two trains. It will feature a 90-degree drop, straight down. Also put to rest are the colors, coral and "sea foam green."

It's hard to tell from those pictures, but the RRC cars look inspired from around a 57-60 Cadillac Eldorado. Those were the cars with the HUGE tailfins. Plus they had the sharp-pointed V-shaped nose on the hood.
2hostyl,
"The Best Cars", as with coasters, are extremely subject to personal opinion. I think that while '50's (and your mentioned 60's and 70's example) are cool, the true automotive performance renaissance is NOW. Your average family sedan can do 0-60 in under 8 seconds, all while getting 20~30 MPG and doing it reliably, every dang day.
BTW, my favorites are my beloved '90 Lotus Esprit SE, the Lotus Elise, and for nostalgia, the 1952 Allard J2X.

Also of note in that article is that Knott's is having to wait for approval from the city and the results from the Environmental Impact Report before beginning construction.

Then again, it's only conceptual art. The train and station look great!

Everyone else: the trains are NOT four across. They are standard 2 across.
