I think "Little Phoenix" is a great idea too, but they should name it "Phoenix Rising" .....

Well, if it's the *little* Phoenix, shouldn't it be called Leaf Phoenix?

I'll do it to you like Billy White Shoes baby!

Oh man, if they could do a gravity group Boulderdash idea that would totally rock, but The Idora Wildcat idea is even better, I think. The areoplane would rock too, but I just dont see that happening.

Boulderdashdashdash

Out of all the things I've heard so far , the Little Kiddie Would be the best. Cheap , small , and Purrrrrfect for the Kiddies.

Or How About a Idora park and Hilcrest Combination and have Wildcat and Kitty?

When I was in church the other day my teacher asked if we knew anyone that was so smart they were weird.
I stood up and Bowed.

I'm up for thepinkdoomofmonkeys idea. I would LOVE to see a recreation of the Idora Wildcat.

"To get from one place to another you have to move." Just a beautiful insight from my social studies teacher, and we wonder what has happened to our school system today.

Have you even been to Knoebels?

I've never been to Knoebel's, and have two quick questions.

1) I am planning my first Pennsylvania Amusement Park trip next year, and wondered if Knoebel's is worth going a little out of the way to visit. It doesn't look like there's much there, but everyone speaks highly of it, so I've thought about maybe going.

2) In regard to the topic, I have a question (keep in mind that I know very little about Knoebel's). Everybody's mentioning that the next coaster there should be either this kind of woodie, or that kind of woodie. I was wondering if there's any chance they would get a new steel coaster, or if Knoebel's is not "into" those kind. Just wondering, since I noticed nobody was mentioning any. Thanks!

Take care and God bless! :)

Knoebels is no corporate park, it's a family park. There are 2 steel coasters there, the High Speed Thrill Coaster (NOT a kiddie coaster) and Whirlwind. Would I be right to assume that most here would take a lap on HSTC than Whirlwind? Back to your question, Knoebels is definately worth the trip, just watch out for the locals. ;)

Knoebels is definitely worth a visit. Phoenix is an outstanding woodie and Twister is pretty dang good, too. Their "kiddie" coaster isn't run like one. Only their Vekoma corkscrew is a loser.

Add the best haunted house EVER, a great classic Whip and Dodgems, other great flats, and a relaxing "Holiday World" like vibe.

How could you go wrong?

...Not to mention some great food. I do have one complaint: the entertainment (shows) end could use some work. Then again what do I care, I just ride Phoenix...

Don't you mean the local?

Knoebels is in the middle of nowhere, after all.

Someone asked about Knoebels and wood coasters...

Perhaps the fact that Knoebel's other business is a lumber yard has something to do with their preference for wood coasters...... :)

In any case, Knoebels is a very traditional park with, in general, very traditional rides. At least one, for instance, has been converted from an electric motor to an internal combustion engine! Anyway, wood coasters are less likely than steel coasters to have components that the park can't maintain properly themselves. That might have something to do with it, too.

Nah, there are a couple of cities nearby. Take Danville for instance: in 1990 it had a population of around 5200 people. Other "local cities" are Shamokin with 9100 people and Bloomsburg (12400). So yeah there are a few locals.

^On a side note, my hometown (Mifflinburg, PA) has 3500 people... ;)

Out of curiosity, how would you classify Catawissa?

I get the small town willies whenever I drive to Knoebels. Maybe if you're used to it, it seems like there's a lot going on, but man, there's nothing there.

And, oh. . . uh, I'd like for Knoebels to build a GCII ride. k. thx.

Your right there is NOTHING going on around the Knoebles area! Nothing at all for people to do. I don't really count going to see movies and going to "the mall" to hang out things to do. That's about it though. The closest place to see bands play is either State College, Hershey or Scranton and they are all about an hour and a half away. Even the bars are pretty lame.

Catawissa, hmmmmm, a small town nothing to do. My favorite thing in Catawissa has to be the garage with the monster truck and beat used vehicles for sale outside. What make it even better it the computer shop there! Just by the looks of the place I don't think i'd take a Commodore 64 there to get fixed. I just wonder if you get a computer fixed you get a free oil change or tires rotated!

DILinator it you were doing a trip in California a trip to Knoebles would be worth going out of the way for! knoebles is a true example of a park from the 20's and 30's only with newer rides. Gravel paths covered with trees, free admission, free parking, you can bring you own food and have a cookout, there's very few parks that are laid out like Knoebles. They may only have 2 wood coasters, a grown up kiddie coaster, small Vekoma corkscrew, and about 10 other good rides but it's a park you never want to leave.

Chernabog, It would be locals since I'm about 12 miles from Knoebles. :)

Signature will be closed today. Sorry for the inconveinance.

Hey, Bloomsburg is a pretty nice place and it is the only "TOWN* in PA. You can also take a little side trip and see the burning underground coal fires and what's left of Centralia.

I haven't been to Knoebels (shame on me) but it looks like there is a lot there, enough to keep me occupied for a long time.
