Knoebel's To Get New Coaster For 2004?

I was at Knoebels the other day and by the woods near the Phoenix I saw people clearing trees. I went over the guy and asked him what they are building and he said a new ride. He wouldn't tell me what new ride. But because they were clearing a lot of trees I think it might be a roller coaster, what do you think?
My guess is that they are buying Hercules from Dorney, and they are going to build the land up so that they can keep that 1st drop. They are going to remove all the brakes off of it except for the final brake run to restore it to the wonderful ride that it used to provide. ;)

Seriously you never know what they are doing there until they announce it. Maybe at PPP enthusiests may be let in on the secret.

Where in the woods was it? Is it on the hillside that the skilift is on? Not to spread rumors, but I have heard of either a boulder dash type coaster (hillside) and I've also heard them trying to rebuilt a classic coaster (Rye Aeroplane) or perhaps something else.

On a side note, I did hear one enthusiast at Streak Out 5 (Conneaut Lake Park) ask if any of us have heard about the rumored third wooden coaster. Nobody said anything more after that.

It was like by the kiddle go karts a little bit after the Phoenix. Maybe the are buying Herclues but I don't think so. I will be at PPP so yeah hopefully they tell us PPP.
i heard new wood next year also. would be quite nice if it was true..
i would say hercules doubful since dorney is owned by cedar fair, and knobels isn't. and usually i see ride buying/trading only within the same chain/comapny.
Don't forget that they really can't get Hercules in 2004 due to the time it takes to dissassemble/reassemble a wooden coaster. Hercules will start coming down in November and will be completely down probably late spring 2004. There isn't enough time to move and reassemble it.
I highly doubt Knoebles would rebuild Hercules although I wouldn't be suprised if they bought the wood and mechanical stuff from it to build somthing else if it would be possible. My guess is if another wood coasters comes to Knoebles it will either be the long rumored hillside coaster like Coaster Ken stated or a juinor woodie for the future coaster riders.

Signature will be closed today. Sorry for the inconveinance.

The later would be my guess. The Hillcrest coaster maybe?

Ask yourself; When was the last time YOU visited Conneaut Lake Park?

The one from Hillcrest makes perfect sense.

Plop down the Schmeck Jr. coaster near the Schmeck masterpiece and call it "Little Phoenix."

I'd still think the Rye Aeroplane would be cooler. Or the rumored Flying Turns, for that matter.

I can't begin to list all of the "rumored" coasters that Knoebels was supposed to have built by now... a Boulder Dash-style out-and-back, a Rye Playland Aeroplane recreation, and Idora Wildcat recreation, a new generation of Flying Turns... see where this is going?

While I don't question that Knoebels will eventually build another wooden coaster (and I don't doubt that Knoebels could have purchased some of Herc's hardware for future use on a new or existing Knoebels coaster), I don't think that it will be happening next year. The park seems to do fine with what they currently have.

Any of the suggested coasters (except Hurt-me-please) would fit in nicely at Knoebels, as would the return of a wooden wildmouse (hey, I can dream -- if any American park can pull that off, it's this one). I think at this point Knoebels should lean more towards a custom design, but if their next coaster is a restoration/relocation or something inspired by a great coaster of the past, I'm certainly not about to complain.

How about a Virginia Reel? Or perhaps (departing from wood) a Steeplechase?

There are just so many possibilities for Knoebels...

Or how about an Intamin Jr. Hyper running through the hills and woods?

Mmmm....Intamin....

If any park was going to take an older design and bring it into the 21st century with the spirit of the original, it would be Knoebels... so if they ever want to bring back an older design (I'm for the Idora Wildcat!), I'd be all for it.

Den, that's just TOO silly, even for me!

I really REALLY love chris' idea of "Little Phoenix", and think that fits in perfectly with what Knoebels is all about...someday they'll pick up an Arrow mine train just for me (and have Sally turn it into an interactive ride)....but for now, saving a junior Schmeck is the bestest thing KG could do...

I like that Arrow mine train/Sally interactive idea... the possibilities for a "special" PPP version are endless...

I still like my idea (from another thread) of LIM launched bumper cars...
