Members of the Ku Klux Klan say they plan to stage a protest outside the Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., on Saturday, where several thousand gay and lesbian parkgoers are expected for a ''Gay Day'' event. About 20 protesters are expected.

Huh... just like every hetero teenager ever born!
"...you did have a segment that wore the same clothes so as to draw attention to themselves and were acting in a in your face manner with public displays of a sexual nature meant to draw attention to themselves."
I guess it's like those black people who need attention by winning basketball shooting games and Jews with nice clothes that stop to pick up pennies on the midway. [/sarcasm]
Yeah... all groups do. I know our agenda this weekend at SFGAm is to promote safe riding and more ERT for enthusiasts. Who's with me?!
"...but lets not kid ourselves or be in denial, both groups are there with a agenda in mind."
Perhaps if society as a whole were not as subjective and scrutinizing about those that live an alternate lifestyle, then those who happen to be gay and living a conservative and "moral" lifestyle would me more apt to step forward. Thus breaking the terrible stereotype that protesters seem to dwell/capitalize on.
The fact is, we are all different... not one single person that ever walked the face of the earth has ever been completely identical. Even Sunday school classes teach songs about how God made us all different "Red and yellow, black and white" So any group that tries to force-fit everyone into a very narrow minded box simply contradicts the very unconditional love they are trying to profess.
It's really an embarassing double standard. I cannot imgaine God or Jesus walking today's earth scrutinizing who they will or will not associate with.
Heck, I'd love to have the chance to sit down with the big man upstairs and ask him a few questions regarding this. It sure would clear up a lot worry and stress that this issue churns in me.
Shaggy
Hey shaggy, why talk to God personally when you have PLENTY of folks running around who can talk to God for you? ;)
And on the marriage topic, IF the proposed admendment was truly based on biblical teachings, the proponents would actually have it worded as "between one man, one woman, one time each". But becuase a lot of churchgoers have been divorced and re-married, that'll never happen.
God will love you IF you do (or don't do) as someone else says....what I really wanna know is who made THAT person a moral authority on ANYTHING...
Sorry mister, MY God loves me regardless...and *she* loves you TOO.....:)
Robocoaster - actually, the Bible says divorce is OK in one circumstance - if one spouse is being unfaithful. I take this to mean unfaithful to marriage vows, which then could include cases of abuse, neglect, etc/
Of course we won't all agree but it's nice to see people agree to disagree and leave it at that and respect people different from onesself - well, except those KKK people ;)

I've always wondered why it is that those who oppose gay anything bring up sex first. As if being gay means you're having sex.
What is the connection between coaster/park go'ers and strong religous beliefs?
Serioiusly. This thread shows many of you have strong convictions when it comes to religion and when I visit parks I see tons of "Pray Hard" or similar religous shirts on people (that I normally don't see people wearing in everyday life)
I'm not trying to take this any more off topic, but the thread is going in a way that it finally felt right to ask something I've been wondering for years.
My personal beliefs lie between atheist and agnostic - leaning more towards atheist (just for the record). I really don't want to get involved in this discussion because I have very strong beliefs and one you get me started I'm not EVER going to stop.
But basically, is there a reason for the connection between many park enthusiasts/fans and strong religous beliefs or is it coincedental or what?
And let's not even bring up the Fox Network. *cringes*

Shaggy makes a great point. For those that feel us Gays have an agenda and shove our views in others faces, that is exactly how allot of us feel about the right wing religious fanatics in this country. If they would just practice what they preach, just live and let live instead of forcing their beliefs and agendas on everyone else, there would be absolutely no reason for us to have to fight and protest for the most basic civil rights that every other tax paying citizen in this country gets to enjoy.

And remember, just because one group of people doesn't agree with something doesn't make it right. When our very own narrow minded president is amending the constitution to discriminate against his very own citizens, would any one of you do anything less if the tables were turned?

Doesn't the bible state stoning as the punishment for adultery? Or was that just for the women? The amount of weed needed to punish the politicians alone is mind boggling.
Just an idea, not sure if it would ever fly though)

You claim that everyone is backwards for thinking that we should be separate. That's bull****. I am 37 years old, served my country in the military and saw happens when you have different races in a single country. You get a country that is on the way down. I don't believe all that the KKK stand for but I do agree with some. If any other group can protest why not them. IT's a free country.
Jan, I read your post and laughed when you wanted to shout Nazi at the people protesting Gay Day at the San Diego Zoo. Maybe you are in favor of Nambla which advocates in raping young boys. There is a few extreme gay groups out there as well.
