There something thats holding the train in place where it is, it should have rolled back into the station. With the tarp on it, seems like it aint comin back into the station anytime soon, they are trying to keep the train from being damaged by the elements.
I think what happened is the catchcar shifted up for some reason when it deattached from the train due to the brake fins being up during launch (if that rumor is true of course, there is seriously something wrong with the PLC of the ride if that is the case). My guess is that the fins came up about 1/2 way through the launch slowing the train down a lot, and when it came off the brakes it was probably going about 20 mph and came back and hit the catchcar, grinding it to a halt.
If one of the wheel assemblies came off, I would think there would be damage to the rails above the launch area.
Of course its all speculation, but thats my best educated guess.
I don't see KK opening any time soon, unfortunately. Couldn't have come at a worse time.
Thankfully, most of my friends in the area have already gotten to ride...
Hopefully, it'll be up and running before the end of July...this is one ride that GAdv cannot afford to leave SBNO (unlike JJF, Chiller:Batman, Viper, Evolution, etc., from years past)...

There's nothing to be damaged by the elements. Rain and heat doesn't hurt them.
Most likely, there is some major damage to the train and they covered it to hide the damage from the public.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks, than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

My understanding (from a post I made in another thread) was that the train won't engage the catch car on a rollback.
I had noticed that the catch car resets before the train clears the top hat and asked it if could ever get caught. Someone responded that the train would pass harmlessly over it on a rollback and can only engage it at the other end of the launch track.

^What you said. It's to keep people like us from speculating and spreading rumors.
Well, it's obviously working well... ;)

shows some bent brake fins. I think the trains wheels or something probably broke or got off tracks and as it launched probably hit the brake fins and thats what caused the flying metal .
note jsut speculation on my part.
Just a thought
It would explain the loud noise, the metal chunks flying out the sides, and the fact that it hasn't rolled back into the station.

I said it before, and I'll say it again....why do I have a feeling that SF bought another one of these..maybe even bigger, before this one opened?
Your feeling on that gives me an even more sinking one ... to me, there's only one logical place it could go.
- Six Flags execs *do* care to some extent about records and all that as they feel it's the most marketable thing about their parks (which many times, considering the lack of customer service, etc., that's true).
- There's one park that used to rule the record books that hasn't for some time.
- this ride type is designed to go as high and as fast as possible for as "cheap" as possible.
- There's one market that Six Flags would love to absolutely dominate for years to come.
- There's one record that only about 3, maybe 4 parks would be even willing to come close to taking on. Two of those parks recently debuted coasters which took strides towards that mark.
If you haven't caught on to my line of thinking yet, I'll give you some clues, it rhymes with Tragic Fountain and the number has three digits and starts with a 5.
Maybe I'm way off base, but if your speculation is right Peabody, I don't see any other place it could lead to ... especially since Moosh's "sightings" at SFoG went all over the place, something the height rockets aren't designed to do.
Could the strata (or whatever we're going to call what I feel would be the conclusion of all this) coaster be the end of not only Intamin, but Six Flags? Who knows, but I think it's a distinct possibility.
It honestly wouldn't surprise me, and a big disaster wouldn't either.
All these people were like "KK is fine...very reliable....no problems..." before it opened, and look where we are now. How couldn't a larger and even faster one (or heck, even a clone!) not have the same if not worse problems.
I don't wish doom or failure on any park...not even the ones I don't care for, but I REALLY hope the park you mentioned doesn't get an Intamin...and NOT for fanboy reasons.
