I'm not obsessed with it being an invert. I have information that points to it being an invert.
Forgive me if im repeating an earlier post, but saw on another forum kings island had posted something along the lines "in 2014 a mountain spirit will be dethroned" sounds like alpengeist topper to me
I don't think that Cedar Fair would make rides that continue themes from other companies. It's not like Six Flags or Busch Gardens will make a ride called "Son of Maverick" or "Millenium's Revenge".
Tyler Boes, are you implying the name is borrowing something from another park's pre-existing coaster? The hint, if it's real, is saying ALPENGEIST will lose it's "tallest invert" record. Or I guess we could call it "Banshee Kicks Alpengeist's Ass: The Ride."
I'm still skeptical that this will be an inverted B&M. However, if it were, it would give Kings Island a truly fantastic coaster lineup.

So we know where this info is coming from, the following below was posted by JMiller on UltimateRollerCoaster.com
"I'm gonna re-post, as best I can, a hint that I saw online somewhere (I forgot where, I was kinda link-diving when I saw it), as to what Kings Island's new 2014 coaster might be.
1. All of the speculation and rumors being thrown around by fans have diverted attention away from what really matters: having fun.
2. We won't tell you what you're getting; isn't it fun, hanging on the edge of your seat?
3. Next season, some people think KI will soar to new heights....but who's to say it won't fall to new lows?
4. In 2014, a mountain spirit will be de-throned."

I don't think that ...
I think you misunderstood the point of that "hint", buddy. "A mountain spirit will be dethroned" is implying that Alpie will not hold the record for tallest invert anymore, and not that it will be "Son of Alpinegeist" or anything like that.
What does this JMiller know that we don't anyways? Could he just pulling our leg? Who is he?

Not sure how Alpie holds the tallest invert record, since Wicked Twister took that back in '02.
I learned something about these social media hints after StR. I don't read them. Since Holiday World did the blog clues and pictures in '05 leading up to the Voyage's announcement, other parks have begun doing the same thing because of the buzz and attention it created. Then it got crazy. Clues that have absolutely nothing to do with the ride started coming along. And StR's was borderline ridiculous.
So yeah, I'm a party pooper. Sorry park PR people. I'm also the same guy that replies to chain emails with snopes.com articles destroying what they forwarded to me. Yeah, I don't get those emails anymore.

I guess I should have wrote "full circuit" in there somewhere.
Besides, everyone knows that Wicked Twister is not really a coaster. ;)
I remember even the "clues" that Cedar Point were giving about Gatekeeper were pretty misleading and pointless. I remember that in hindsight, some of them didn't even make sense.
However, so far, what Kings Island has given us, as far as hints, are pretty straightforward. We know for sure that it will be a coaster, and we suspect that is will be called Banshee. Umm... That's about all there is. lol

Wasn't one of Gatekeeper's clues alluding to Banshee as well? Again, I didn't pay too much attention to them.

Yes. But, now Cedar Fair has actually trademarked it. No, that doesn't mean anything. But, it seems more substantial.

The whole social media 'clues and games' thing is downright awful. They're dumb, nonsensical time wasters meant to do nothing other than keep a ride fresh in people's minds.
It's the laziest form of marketing - especially when done poorly.
Awful. Just awful. Worst thing to come out of the internet/social media era of the industry.
Hershey was the first one of those "games" that I recall to actually go beyond time-wasting nonsense into downright stupidity. Took me about 5 seconds to decide that others could play if they wanted, but that I wanted NONE of it. It actually came close to offending me....something that isn't easily accomplished.
I don't know...KD's whole Planet Snoopy campaign and the massive amount of anticipointment was pretty hysterical.
