Kingda Ka Media Day postponed.

For those of you playing at home, a new Coasters After Dark event has been scheduled for May 6th. Guess what that means?

Actually, that CAD has been scheduled since the beginning of the season so it's nothing new. It's definitely the most likely date for opening as of now, but just because there is a CAD doesn't mean anything.

Well, part of the advertising for season passes last year was "Season pass holders preview for KK - ride before anyone else." Not saying they have to stick to it, but, as you said, a very likely date.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I got a new E-mail from the park today.. in case anyone cares

Hi Lucky Winners!
As of today, I still do not have any new date for the media event except that it
is expected to happen in May.

The good news is that I am passing on your names to our Public Relations
department who will be contacting all of you with specifics for your memorable
Kingda Ka experience once a new date has been scheduled. They are running the
show and are much more in the know than this Purchasing Manager, so you are in
good hands.

Please still contact me with with names and shirt sizes, if you haven't done so
already.

Thanks for your patience. It will be well worth the wait.

Sorry to hear that Jeremy, but it'll happen when it happens. The good news is that from now on you'll be hearing from Kristin S., who seems to be *relishing* her role at "the Siebert of the East Coast"...;)

Similarity in their names a coincidence? I think not! ;)

KA will not disappoint...although I still think the investment in the Chicago-area park will pay bigger dividends in terms of gate receipts...

the PR sent me an e-mail and I posted in the "Hot Off the press" topic

but thanks. I can't waite to ride KA! WOOT

was at sfgradv yesterday (made it on only 2 rides) and kingda ka was testing all day. i have heard a few different stories about why there is actually a delay-----not too sure what to believe. i have been going there since i was a kid------min of 20xs a season--------------i love it but i have to admit its not the same and its not because i am older.
There might be bad news although i dont know how serious ot take this rumor. I heard (from a reliable source) that Kingda Ka failed inspection and would be torn down and rebuilt. I know this sounds ridiculous but no test runs were going off today while I was there and since it keeps being pushed back. I also heard before that it was going to be launched this weekend so I dont know what to think. Can anyone confirm this and hopefully say it is wrong? *** Edited 5/6/2005 1:49:22 AM UTC by MCBRIZZLE***

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

MCBRIZZLE, welcome to CBUZZ good luck with your first post!! ;)

I heard it was sinking!

You might wanna try Swillnetwork down the hall and to your left.

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

That news is currently in the queue for Absolutely Reliable's daily news and will be posted tomorrow. Thanks for the breaking news, MCBRIZZLE!

I heard that they are re-naming it to the Leaning Tower of Ka: The Ride.
I heard that they built the top hat wrong- it was suppoused to be the *other* kind of top hat. ;)
I heard that they will strap down al lthe rumour starters and run them over on media day lol
lol It must be me, but I see the BS flag waving! Does anyone else see that...

lol I thought this was funny when I heard it:

I heard KA passed its ride inspection yesterday and their waiting on paperwork! Also in the same conversation, it was said that one of the water dummies lost all of it water and that is what the hold up was about. Why they investigated that!

lol you can take that as you wish!

DISCLAIMER: this is NOT news... just what I heard!

I am heading to G.A. in abit and am excited about CAD. I know for a fact that K.Ka is not being torn down and has been testing every day that i have been there(3x's in the past week).

All the B.S. is just a case of the telephone game.

Hope you all have fun at CAD tonight!!!!!!

www.philly.com has an article about Kingda Ka up now. But you need to register to view the article.

The basic end of the article is that SFGAdv PR rep says all it is waiting on is state aprroval.

Gee thanks tell us something we didn't know....

Watch the tram car please....
I never believed it.
In the quarterly conference call this morning SF said that both the GK and KK will be opening May 12th...which is this Thursday.
