Italian Job At PKI in 2005!

I had a feeling it was Keith's work. I was wondering what he was doing all this time with the sparse updates on the badnitrus site.

Very good work Keith...so who paid you? ;)

Wow! I guess a trip to southern Ohio in '05 is in order...

A few observations/thoughts;

1) I love the concept! A combination of two of my loves, cars and coasters.
2) Anyone else notice the MINI billboard in the full-length video? I'll bet anyone ten bucks that there'll be real MINI Coopers sitting outside the ride queue, potentially even with a "See the 2005 MINI Cooper at such-and-such dealership" sign nearby.
3) I'd venture that PKI is getting a little something ($$$) from BMW for this level of product placement (FYI, BMW owns MINI).
4) I would guess that this corporate sponsorship/tie-in might have been a deciding factor in the Italian Job-vs.-Addams Family decision.
5) With two launches, we'll probably see at least four trains (unload, load, 1st launch, 2nd launch).
6) The water splash-down shows the whole train chassis getting wet. From this, I would guess Intamin Aqua-Trax as opposed to a Premier ride system. Anyone know who's making Powder Keg?
7) I agree with other opinions stated here that the maintenace of theming is a BIG requirement for this ride. I just don't see it having the same impact if effects are'nt working.

All I know for sure is that PKI looks like it has another family-pleasing winner on it's hands!

From my observations of vid....it looks like that track is in a troth (spelling) and the splash is simulated like on hulk and anaconda. But then again this is just an animation and my pure speculation.

There are no bad coasters, only better coasters!!

Actually, they brought out two MINIs during the announcement.
Let's see it only took 8 posts after the original for someone to mention that the effects won't be running after 2 years.

EV....Powder Keg is an S&S launch...although, all things considered, I think *I* might be more tempted at this point to get wood rather than steel from S&S...;)

Oh, and |>3/\/, *some parks* had the theming thing right ALL along....they're jst in FL instead of OH...:)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

I'm stunned. Great addition to the parks Paramount !

And indeed, Keith made another masterpiece as well.
Plus another ride preview and some good money. ;-)

By the way, it's definately a Gerstlauer imo.

Well thats what Paramount Parks are known for letting things go.

Top Gun, Adventure Express, Flight of Fear, Tomb Raider: The Ride, International Street, Oktoberfest, and even several of the kiddie attractions have missing effects as well. For a supposed "theme" park, PKI does seem to have a very difficult time keeping the theme aspect together. I thought that with the addition of Tomb Raider that would change, but apparently not. There are still four or five effects throughout the entire experience that don't work/aren't turned on. And I don't buy the whole "It's too expensive to maintain" crap. If you aren't going to keep the effects going, don't theme it in the first place.

Many people have said that Adventure Express has been worked on, which is apparent on the final lift, and I know Tomb Raider had a major spider web addition over the past month, so we'll have to wait for this new ride to open to see if Paramount has made any real changes to the way they run their parks.

As far as the ride goes, I think this thing will be a great addition to an already awesome park. (As long as they keep the theme up, of course) I wonder how close the animation is to the actual plans for the ride? If they are as close as Boomerang Bay was, I don't see how they could get this ride up an running by Spring 2005. Mummy was under construction for over a year wasnt it?

Premier rides is building the ride itself.

Woodyman, it's Siebert... not Siefert.

IJ:ST will take the place of the Antiques. They will no longer be operational after Sunday. Construction begins Monday.

The park is optimistic that the cars will re-appear by 2006, but has no immediate plans to re-install by 2005.

IJ will be a Coney Mall attraction. You will enter from that side of the park. As many tresses as possible are being salvaged. The Flying Eagles may be re-located, but the park has not made a decision.

3 trains, LIM launched, Under 100' tall, speeds possibly up to 60mph.

I think they oughtta consider getting the Antiques back up sooner rather than later....I know IJ takes precedence (and should, LOL), but the antique car ride is something *everyone* can enjoy, and is a relaxing part of the day for MANY visitors...

Flying Eagles, as long as they're up SOMEWHERE, and *snappable as ever*, I will make SURE to make them a part of my next visit to PKI.....Spring '05 sounds likely right now...:)

P.S. to Shaggy....BGT's Trabant is idling in storage, waiting for the Busch ride rotation program to take them to BGW...;)

I rode the Antiques today, for the final time in their original home. There was quite a line, and that was without the public knowing they are soon to close!

I expect we'll see them re-appear, the park woudl be crazy not to re-locate them eventually. Probably in '06 or such. But I predict it may be a re-conditioning similar to that of the change of KMLF into Thornberries.

From what I understand, the current cars are not aging well. Hence part of the decision to remove them for now.

Gator- BGW has already had a Trabant... in Octoberfest.... years ago.

I stand corrected. Thanks.

Good to see a high speed coaster attraction going in. I guess my 4 year layoff from PKI will end next year. This ride looks awesome.

Hmmm, in that case, Sea World in San Antonio certainly could use a flat or two, LOL...

What tresses are you talking about?

Thanks..

Three trains, each with 12 passengers?!

Does that scare anyone else?

Mike

I think this will be a rush job and will have another SOB on PKI hands. I wish they had one more set of trains. The line for IJ is going to be long.
