Running Special effects constantly 10-14 hours a day, half of the year, is sure to cause normal wear and tear. Effects break. They are expensive to replace
Yes it is expensive to maintain special effects, but the initial cost of the installation AND the new theming is more expensive. If PKI does not want to spend the $$ to keep it up, don't put it in. *** Edited 8/12/2004 11:42:09 PM UTC by browntggrr***
Spring/Summer 2005 is gonna rule.
There are no bad coasters, only better coasters!!
The simpler the tech, the easier it is to main. I think we understand that now, looking at TTD vs. Storm Runner.

And, I've been told from the PKI employee who will be supervising electronics on this ride during construction, that there is 3 launches. Only two look to be from a complete stop, though.
Apparently nobody got the joke. :)

Will it blow the bloody doors off?
My take on this is one of serious excitement. From a business standpoint, I think they'll take Columbus market share from Cedar Point, the only real "swing" market they have. They continue to diversify the ride lineup and make it stronger every year.
An effects ride isn't going to be a problem for them. The flume re-theme is top-notch, and Tomb Raider shows they can do it and maintain it. That ride's show has received a lot of love. While they lose a few seats for capacity, its seating arrangement is at least putting up with the more narrow weight distribution.
I think the new ride is cool because it offers something different, not something taller/faster or whatever. I can't wait.

Way to go PKI/PCW! It looks like too good of a ride to just have in one of the parks, so thankfully our Canadian friends get one as well. :)
Joe, all giddy inside
Just because the annimation had three cars doesn't mean the actual train will. It may have four. It may only have three and seat four wide (Mummy) These details were not mentioned. It was mentioned that there will be separate load and unload areas.
Chuck, who thinks it will have pretty good capasity but was somewhat lacking in any stats after the presentation.
I going to hold back all my judgements until I actually ride this baby and then give it an honest opinion. Although I must say I was just a little disappointed not to see a huge hypercoaster. (I'm still pumped for this ride though!) I would love to see a big steel coaster compliment their skyline along with Sonny. Someday...
