Ever run or jump with a heavy backpack on?

Not often enough to remember the experience.

I understand the analogy, though. ;)

Having only ridden Inferno, I can't say for sure how the restraints will feel with lateral G's.There are no lateral G's on Intamin Ball coasters. However, these are very large and padded straps. They are also tight on your body. With the negative and positive G's experienced on the coaster, I thank the heavens that they didn't use the maverick style restraints.

I don't think there's any significant laterals on this ride. There really aren't on Maverick, either, not in the sense that we usually describe them. There are brief moments of rotational forces on you (often with the rotation centered on the heart line), but it's not the kind of lateral force you'd experience around a turn on a wood coaster, for example.

It appears that these restraints sit much lower on your neck. The restraints on Maverick make contact with the mid to upper portion of my neck. I also feel like I have nothing to complain about anymore...
It also seems like manufactures have perfected parabolic transitions to significantly reduce lateral G loads and maintain top speed.

I see what your saying Jeff. I guess just saying lateral G's wasn't exactly what I meant. Because I was referring to the quick sharp turns on I305, which are the same types of transitions experienced on Maverick.

But those quick changes in direction are what cause the neck jabbing, not the sustained lateral forces going around a turn.

Are these restraints made of a soft material or the hard rubbery plastic like on Maverick?

It's not hard/foam rubber. I assume it's Nylon.

It sounds like it's time to make a distinction between lateral forces and roll.
