Oh, I understand the complaint. Just seems odd to complain about the OSTRs now when it's been known for months.
I personally cant see cause for disappointment before the train has even hit the tracks..
But im odd like that.

Disappointment in the ride? Yeah, too early. In the restraints? Not in my opinion. I was disappointed by that aspect on the day it was announced/discovered. Intamin really could learn from Zierer, or Premier, or Maurer, or anyone else that's figured out you can even do inversions without OTSRs...
Well and thats what I thought. My understanding was there was speculation between the train actually showing up with/without restraints, so for me I was unsure.
I thought maybe I would post something, seeing as you can see it with your own eyes. Whats the saying? I'll believe it when I see it.

Indeed. I don't need to ride the thing to know I'd like it better without the shoulder restraints. Not really a huge leap.
^Thanks Matt, I thought the whole OTSR thing was pretty self explanatory as well.
From the looks of some of those twists, it looks like even a loose non-metal core harness could hurt a bit. All that rubbing and buffing - ouch. Isn't Maverick somewhat painful in the transitions? Would a loose flexible harness help much or be an improvement?
+Another thing I noticed about the new Intamin OTSR(flexible) is that they look like they are easily removable, if the park ever wanted to take them off. Then you would just have the lapbar, kinda like Pilgrim's Plunge at Holidayworld.
Maverick does has some brutal transitions if you aren't ready for them.
Yes, they hurt. Maverick would be one of my favorite steel coasters if it didn't jab me in the neck. As is, there are many, many more-enjoyable steel coasters to choose from. On top of that, they obstruct your view, so the ride loses points before it even begins.

I still just don't get why they went away from the T-bars...or even just go with the lap bar part of the restraint and get rid of that hideous OTSR...that thing kills me on Storm Runner at the end.

StormRunner's twist-and-dive with lappies could be the next-best non-Anton inversion since Chiller went offline...
You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)
^^^I would think the reason all the new Intamin coasters have the lap bar w/OTSR is b/c of the fatalities on their rides a few years ago. It's a shame, I think there would be more of a middle-ground or proper training, but o well.
The good thing is that the new shoulder bars and shoulder straps look to be easily removable (physically) if the park wants to do it at some point (I have no clue of the legal matters involved, at least the option is clearly there.)
The really stupid thing is that the actual over the shoulder part doesn't do any restraining. All it does is box ears.

Pic of Dominion's I-305 train (well, the first few cars anyway) taken during a clearance test, can be seen here. Retraints look like those on Pilgrims Plunge...or am I not seeing it correctly?
The restraints do look different than Storm Runner's or Maverick's but who knows from that low resolution photo.
That's far more legit than I expected or what the renderings suggest. Badnitrus could have done better!
Now I must take a trip.
Well, I will be at the ACE "Jeepers it's Winter" event. We will be getting a construction tour tomorrow. I will be sure to get a closer shot of the trains. Not sure if I will have wi-fi access in the hotel. I will at least post a photo on my facebook page.
