I'd make usage of the hilly terrain of the park and have CCI build me a nice terrain woodie maybe with a turnaround right at the banks of the river (but there's no room to build back there unless you relocate the picnic pavillions)
And for goodness sakes I'd build a LONG coaster. I'm so sick of SFoG building coasters that are over before they even get started. That's the main reason I'm not all that excited about S:UF because it's just as short as everything else in the park if not shorter. I'd have Intamin come in and build a steel airtime machine on the backside of the park near the Great American Scream Machine turnaround. That would do it for me.
But in all seriousness, I'd have to call my home park CP instead of MA...
1) Revive the DT theming and keep one of those uniforms for myself.
2) Remove the trims from Mantis and MS.
3) Take a poll in the park as to what the original color of Maggie was.
4) Give all Buzzers and ACE members 1/2 off tickets.
5) Revive the what theming there was on Maggie.
6) See what can be done about all them lil bugs that overtake the Mantis queue during those hot summer nights.
7) Bring back the Mill Race for nostalgic reasons.

What say we do it RIGHT and make it like LR, with ONE control system...darn BGT (I can curse 'em, it IS one of my home parks)!!!

In the second year though I would start to construct the worlds lagest paintball feild which is open year round. ... Hotels, golf courses, monorail, and more coasters wold come next. Most coasters would be in house design and would be either record breakers or prototypes.
Slight counterpoint before I go into my own ideas: Tehre is a paintball field down the highway from GAdv already. You'd pass it if you're coming from the Turnpike (it's the mini-mall with the pizzeria across the highway from KFC). Also, I don't nkow much abotu how much space they really have, so it's ahrd to say how much you could get away with some of those other plans, but they're nice thoughts. :)
As for me, I'd see if I could find some way to get another generator/power grid from the power company. We've already been informed that the launches of the Chiller is effectively a whole power grid, so the extra power would certainly help the park. Leading to: Making sure that all of the rides are open and staffed Staff shortages and lack of power have been the reasons so many flat rides are down (and especially Evolution and Jumping Jack Flash).
Another behind the scenes change: I'd make sure that maintenence are doing their job! The coasters are aging badly, and it's obvious in many cases that good maintenence would help. (Or maybe just really train the maintenence workers well on each ride they're working on). GASM has been awfully rough the past two years (wheels feel like they're square), and one of the Batman trains always seems to be running on the wheel rims instead of the plastic.
It has to be said: Viper's restraint system needs to be changed! The ride itself is rough yet okay, but those *$%#$# restraints either dig into your shoulders painfully, or they dig into your chest if you have any curves. (My ex-gf can attest to having bruises for days after a single ride.) It loses the fang effect, but standard OTSRs would help a lot.
I'd rip out the seat dividers on Rolling Thunder and grease the track to smooth it out. I'd hate to actually rip it out completely (because we know how long that could take), but the squaling and seat dividers ruin a formerly good coaster. If it's tearing itself apart, I'd have to go with replacing it with another woodie (I prefer a GCI design, perhaps a dueller like Gwazi).
Find out if the flat rides are actually working or can work. I don't believe I've ever seen the Octopus running, Evolution runs extremely rarely,
Focussing on the current rides would be the main thing to fix for a year or maybe two. Lower cost flats would be the only option considering the cost the above changes would bring. I'd advertise the sheer number of rides available to get people in (because quite frankly, we're spoiled with such a good selection of flats as it is), just to avoid the fact that there isn't anything new.
I'd also really try to beef up the security since line cutting and the rougher crowds is still a big problem.
The third year would be the first chance to get something in, and I'd be inclined to look at either a B&M flyer, an ArrowBATic, or an Arrow 4D. GAdv has many prototype (Medusa, Viper), bigger clones (GASM, Batman:TR), or unique (Chiller, Nitro w/Hammerhead) coasters already, so this woudl be in line. I'd like to see a tunnel or two since all of the other coasters are open and could use some spicing up.
Big investments will fall to once every two years and in between, I'd bring theming back to the park since so much has gone to waste or disuse. Useful additions like sunshades on line queues and actual ride signs. (Anyone want to tell me where Pendulum or Jumping Jack Flash is written other than the maps?) Just some thoughts to help the park.
I wouldn't really do very many things differently in terms of running the place. Richard K. has just been a God-send for the amusement industry and Cedar Fair.
I probally would do something more to cater to even more company buyouts.
I would build several family restaurants outside the park and a few new resorts, including a Snoopy themed resort ( I know they have a floor in the Breakers tower for Snoopy).
I would refurbish Mean Streak and Blue Streak, put in a few new flat rides, (Frisbee, Top Spin, Breakdance) and a few more family oriented rides, re-paint anything that would need it, Enlarge the Marina, build some more game complexes, refurbish Kiddie Kingdom, and redesign the vehicle traffic flow (which is hard to do). I would do something about that empty Carousel Pavillion. (I know its used for the Haunted House and shady eating area already)
New coasters would include something from CCI, S&S and Arrow (4th dementionally speaking)
remove supercat and the garage behind it, only thing important behind there is the beach band trailer and that's mobile...a nice flat ride could go there instead of the aged caterpillar (the thing doesn't even go backwards). get rid of chaos and put a huss flat ride there, chance rides always scare me...not in the good kind of thrill either. as it doesn't seem like the park is expanding beyond excalibur and thunder canyon, i'd like to see expansion either by moving the entire parking lot backwards so that it's closer by the valleyfair housing commons (thus moving front gate up closer and freeing up a lot of area for expansion in front), or by moving the entire water park to that grass area across the parking lot. this would allow expansion on the original waterpark and free up enough room in the back. but main priority would be to make the place more beautiful. there isn't enough green space in my opinion so i'd put up more flower beds and possibly put a small park/rest area where the waterpark used to be.

2003: Add an Arrow 4D coaster, since PKI likes to go with unusual coasters, and name it Mission: Impossible with the Limp Bizkit song version playing. I'd put it behind the Racer's turnaround. Also after Tomb Raider is built, I'd put in a couple of flat rides in Rivertown.
2004: Continue to improve Rivertown with some more games and a shop that sells coaster shirts. Show movie clips pertaining to that ride (ex. showing clips from the movie Face/Off while in line for the coaster) by using the Q-TV sets. For the non-movie named coasters play some techno or rock music (ex. Vortex: anything from Chemical Brothers)
2005: Get a B&M flier or invetred coaster in Rivertown named the Bat's Revenge.
2006: Take out the King Cobra, if the rumors will be true, and put in an Arrow or Mack wild mouse and name it the Bavarian Beetle. Along with that add one more flat ride in Octoberfest.
2007: Upgrde the old rides and other park improvments like restrooms andshows.
2008: Screamin' Demon II: A B&M floorless located in Rivertown also. Take out Timberwolf ampitheatre and turn it in to a stunt show arena. The shows could be a different Paramount action movie each year starting with a Tomb Raider stunt show. For the stunt men and women, get real ones and have it almost like the Indiana Jones stunt show at WDW's MGM studios park.
That's all I can think of.

1. Remove Ninja
2. Put Viper inside GASM
3. Build Gravitron to left of GoKarts
4. Build ejection seat in USA area (Space Themeing/name)
5. More themeing on each ride
6. Build a B&M sit-down replica of Drachen Fire with lap bars over big lake
7. Spaghetti-bowl Coaster where Batman stunt show is (Mr. Freeze; Riddler; Two Face)
8. B&M Hyper-Floorless in that park area behind the big lake and intertwinded with B&M DF
9. Kiddie coaster in Bugs Bunny Land
That would make SFOG truely the best park on Earth, even though it will never happen

BEASTMASTER: I would never think of touching Timberwolf. It generates too much revenue from concerts. A stunt show wouldn't make enough of an attendence increase to pay for itself.
Well I could relocate the Timberwolf to Coney Mall and use the space it was relocted from for either a new stunt show arena or some type ride.

For some strange reason all your plans sound really familiar.

Excalibur Crew for 2002!
Tear down the wall! Tear down that ugly wall between Hometown Square and County Fair. Give us our bridge back. (I think I heard they are doing this.)
Another one they are doing... remove Cajun Cliffhanger. It has been inactive for years. Add some flyers in it's place.
Work on capacity issues to get rides running at peak performance. SFGAm is the best at this in the Six Flags chain but they are also one of the busiest in the chain.
Refurbish the American Eagle. Retrack both sides with something that will last more than a few Northern Illinois winters. Repaint the entire ride and put a giant flag on the outside of the helix so that it can be seen from the highway and the park. Also line the entire lift with american flags. Patriotism is in folks and with a name like American Eagle, flaunt it. Make this ride return to it's former glory.
Redo the theming on Demon to make it scary again. Get rid of the old beat up soundtrack that they were using last season that no one could understand the words to and sounded like white noise. Remix a version of the original song and add some scary sound effects. Repaint the track. The rusted look is not in.
Retheme V2 to a Superman theme and then retheme Yankee Harbor into a superhero area. Retheme all the buildings and flats in the area to match and make it like the Southwest Territory.
Repaint Batman. Again rust is not an in color.
Get rid of Power Dive and put one or two flats in it's place. A Chaos would be nice along with the planned Ferris Wheel. Theme these rides to the Orleans area and enhance the theming on Shockwave to be more New Orleans.
Add one more coaster in the next five years. A good choice would be a flyer. The floorless would be good too and would have a real high capacity as well. As for the location however, your guess is as good as mine. Maybe back where the diving stadium used to be.
Move part of County Fair, namely the part with Iron Wolf and Fiddlers Fling and either retheme them to Yukon(Iron Wolf wouldnt be too hard) or retheme the entire area. There just isnt alot to do in Yukon and general rethink on this area might be in order.
Add 3 or 4 flat rides over then next 5 years. This park does have a lot of good flats but could always use more. This will also help the capacity issue.
These are just a few of my thoughts on Great America.
